  1. I wasn't sure if we needed VT, but as I priced it out, it was $375 for the initial and they gave me no price for weekly visits. Years ago I bought a book, Eyes on Track, which is for families that just don't have the proximity or resources to get to a VT. There are tons of exercises in this book.
  2. Went with a Butterfly kit and a couple of Puzzlebit kits. Many thanks for the help, Kim
  3. Good idea if we were local. We live 400 miles away and I've never been to her house.
  4. I have 4 hours to shop and get this shipped. I need a gift for an 8- year old girl.. She is an only child and has just about everything known tp man. She attends PS so she may not have seen any of the toys geared more to homeschoolers. Links to Amazon Prime ideas would be ideal. Help appreciated, Kim
  5. I LOVE my iPads! I have 3 since there was simply too much fighting over one. The educational apps are amazing. My 3 year old is doing really well on her alphabet, letters and sounds, and penmanship. My older kids work on geography. And I've decided to go with iBooks so that I don't have to store them.
  6. We use the top of the line Sherwin-Williams. You don't need a primer. You typically only need one coat. It goes on beautifully. I think that with paint that the cheap often comes out more expensive (especially when you factor in all the extra time for lots of extra steps.)
  7. I have 8 children. My personal favorite is when I go someplace with 5 or 6 of them and I get the "Are these ALL YOURS?" And I say no, I've got more, just not with me. The looks on faces after that comment is priceless.
  8. I have a STRUGGLING 8 year old boy. We have done no less than 8 reading programs. Nothing sticks. He is just now starting an interest in simple addition. His brother is 2 years younger than he is. He reads and can multiply, compounding my trouble. So last night we sat down together and watched the samples of the DVD program. He loved it. Maybe he needs the structure and the visual stimulation. Anyway, so I was thinking that I might could either order 1st or 2nd grade and have both boys watch it together. Maybe we could accelerate 3 years into 2 years and merge the two boys together. My older kids have full loads at co-op classes but this doesn't start until 4th grade for us. Opinions?
  9. I have 2 teens at camp. If they get a package, they have to sing. So I was thinking that I will have Amazon Prime do all the packing and shipping. Anyone see any cheap, fun stuff to send to my teens at camp?
  10. Is that a centipede or a silverfish? Silverfish are nasty and they hang around damp places. They also eat the glue of book bindings.
  11. Terro works really well for small ants (they go for sugar.) I have big, black carpenter ants now. They appear in my bathroom. I keep a pair of tweezers handy so I usually pluck them up and down the drain they go. I'm over 40 so sometimes it takes a few tries to actually catch the moving target, especially first thing in the AM.
  12. I remember the old boards that the webmaster had to make links to new pages. I also remember the endless wait for SOTW 1 to release and ship. I'm not quite sure of the date but it had to be WAY back there.
  13. I have a Maytag with french doors with the freezer on the bottom. It is great for the french door section. But I typically only use the freezer for immediate use frozen foods (ice cream, ice, maybe a bulk bag of veggies that we are using.) Other than that, frozen goes in the stand-up freezer.
  14. I need one. SOON. Like less than 2 weeks. Not a gown. We have limited shopping here so I may need to drive a couple of hours. I need ideas of stores to shop in. I want to hit the consignment and thrift shops. Fancy dresses usually aren't worn all that much and off to donation they go. But I'm not limited to those stores. I am more concerned about getting a dress more than how much it costs.
  15. I have 2 Donvier yogurt makers that I am selling. I bought one from the BreadBeckers at convention and liked it so much that I bought another one. Each has 8 little cups. Plus I have at least 2 dozen extra cups. We have since graduated to going through 2 quarts of yogurt a day so I don't use these. I do have other yogurt makers as I like consistency and I wanted to have set instructions, times, etc.
  16. We have a wedding in less than 3 weeks. I need 2 flower girl dresses. Should I go ahead and buy from David's Bridal or buy cheap knock-offs from eBay? I'd like cheaper but I need quick dresses that fit? Opinions?
  17. You don't boil water in them because you really only want to go to medium heat on the stovetop. It just takes much longer that way. Get the silicone handles. The spatulas and such are awesome, too. They can go to a much higher heat.
  18. Le Creuset May 1 – 31 Buy more, save more on all Le Creuset & Screwpull Items* Buy $125, Get 20% Off Buy $200, Get 25% Off Buy $300, Get 35% Off
  19. I can't get into my email box but I think that they just sent out a Mother's Day coupon book voucher.
  20. Check out Williams-Sonoma. They have some good deals on Le Creuset, too. I have to go to DCA today. Maybe I'll call them and see how much a pasta roller and ice cream machine are. :001_smile:
  21. My daughter was on it. She has terrible side effects. It made her VERY tired. And she had slurred speech. And it didn't take long for the side effects to start.
  22. We spent hours looking for colors last night for our living room and dining room. We have a wedding in few weeks so we need to do this NOW. Good thing: We brought home 2 sample cans to try on the walls. Bad thing: One of the colors is identical to the color on the walls now. Our trim in stained right now. I like white trim but I don't like how scuffed and dirty it gets. Is stained trim the way to go? Our issue is that we are putting bamboo flooring in the dining room. My dining room set is cherry. I am just worried about having too many colors of wood. Help!
  23. We used to co-op but it was a struggle. That was because there was co-op work, and Mom's assignments. So we stopped. Several years later, we are back to the co-ops. The difference now is that our co-op work has become Mom's assignments. Our high school co-op classes are accredited and they are very tough. They cover enough material and give enough work to keep them busy for the week. And since I am spending a good chunk of money for the co-op classes, it only makes sense to not spend even more money on duplicate studies.
  24. I bought something from Atlanta. I am in Virginia. It went from GA to Memphis. Then it went to Dallas. Is this the normal path for media mail to go?
