  1. My husband has replaced broken seat belts. He went down to the junkyard, pulled them out and installed them. They work great. And really easy to do. Some cars are designed for the seatbelt to lock in a crash. They have to be reset.
  2. My husband is at school in MN. He called today to say it was snowing. I didn't feel bad for him. It was 82 degrees here. I wish it was snowing to cool it down.
  3. I buy Hanna Andersson as it is European sizing, so it goes by centimeter of height, not weight. My 6yob wears 120 pants. His brother wears a 110.
  4. I'd sell it in a minute. I don't buy toys that have electronic sounds/lights (except video games). And this is just a novelty I imagine.
  5. Well, often times the cashier will specifically look at you and instruct you to come over. If they aren't that specific, I take a deep breath because I'm not racing anyone to the checkout.
  6. With the wheat prices soaring, you have a bit better control of your grocery bill if you can buy in bulk. Plus, wheat berries last indefinitely (at least that is what my preparedness book said, I think).
  7. There are definitely places to write, so I bought one for each of my writing students.
  8. My kids really like it. But out of sight, out of mind.
  9. I'm frugal (and pretty green), but I spend when and where I need to. We use: cloth diapers cloth wipes for baby family cloth (TP) cloth kitchen wipes (to replace napkins and paper towels) cloth sandwich wraps and cloth bags cloth wipes for runny noses or dirty faces mama cloth (you get the idea) I don't buy disposable items. No plates, cups, etc. I hate throwing money away. I don't use freezer bags, typically. I bought a FoodSaver and I have been storing food in mason jars, and using the jar attachment. I buy in bulk, such as grains, flour, sugar, and the such. I typically try to buy organic, so I need to buy in bulk to get the price down. We drink raw milk now. So, I am hoping that I won't have to buy heavy cream, light cream, butter and buttermilk. I make my own yogurt. I don't allow high fructose corn syrup in the house. I bake bread as well. I have chickens so come this summer, I will have a bunch in the freezer and probably 7 fresh eggs a day. I joined a CSA so we will be getting 1/2 bushel per week of fresh fruits/veggies for like 17 weeks. I buy our beef from the farm down the street. We usually get 1/2 cow every year. We all use Klean Kanteens and Sigg bottles. I don't buy bottled water. We filter our own water. I try to avoid plastics that leach and have BPA. I only buy brands of clothing that will retain a resale value. I make my own hand soap. We heat with wood. And, I've stopped buying the "What's hot" new curricula and settled on contentment with what I have.
  10. Well, I called the school and the speech pathologist called me back. She told me that no letter r is still age appropriate until 3rd grade.
  11. My college girls would LOVE Macs. But they can buy those on their own dimes, KWIM? The best time to get a laptop is July/August in the back to school sales. I bought a nice HP for $400 a couple of years ago. It came with the wireless card, Internet security, printer and a carrying case, too. My school laptop that I just bought this past August was around $440.
  12. My daughter's hands get really bad. Soap is the initial culprit. I make my own liquid soap out of Dove soap now and her hands are in great condition, and she needs no other creams or ointments.
  13. We are members of HSLDA. I will call them on Monday. I'm not sure, though, that they will really help me as their goal is to keep me independent of the public school system, so this goes against what they believe.
  14. I love the next board. I typically didn't talk much on the other board as threads would get buried. Now posts will be bumped into view. Many thanks!!
  15. We started in 1993. My oldest graduates from Moody Bible in 4 months. My next oldest also attends Moody. And my youngest is just 8 months. So, I guess that I have about another 18 years of this. :)
  16. Don't click on the first hyperlink. That brings you to the main boards. The next one brings you to the sub-board and the last one is the thread.
  17. I checked with our insurance carrier and there are no speech therapists in a 250 mile radius of my home. We live in Virginia and we have a religious exemption. I'm just not sure if I can ask the school system for access to a school speech therapist. I need ideas of what to do to help her or if I should further pursue the school to help us? Blessings, Kim
  18. I bought Lands End socks for my younger ones. I LOVE them. I was so tired of having 8000 socks, and trying to find a match. Now I have one brand and the size is written under the words "Lands End" on the bottom of the sock. (Getting a sock on used to be a challenge for my little one, but now they know that they got it right when the words on on the bottom of their feet.) Anyway, the fit is great and the wash beautifully. Plus, can we say GUARANTEE?
