  1. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Minestrone-Soup/Detail.aspx I'd replace the orzo with rice if I were you, and use what veggies etc you have on hand. You can search their other soups as well on that site. There is an ingredient tab at the top so you can search for recipes with specific ingredients if you want as well.
  2. Lol, I wish. No, and her hair is still so fine it wouldn't stay in a holder anyway. I'm thinking I'll just invest in a few new headband bows and hope it grows fast.
  3. See, I think it would be fine as a 'get started' book. It talks a LOT about nutrition in general which can help someone who's trying to learn the ropes. Also, not all the recipes are bone broth and organ meats. There are plenty of 'regular' recipes for chicken, beef, veggies, etc as well.
  4. I know I've posted several times already, but I wanted to mention that if you haven't watched 'Sugar: The bitter truth' yet it is well worth the watch and could help push you over the edge from thinking to really doing if you know exactly what it's doing to you.
  5. http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Black-Teas/Cacao-Mint-Black-Tea.axd http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Herbal-Teas/Azteca-Fire-Herbal-Tea.axd http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Rooibos-Teas/Tiramisu-Treviso-Rooibos-Tea.axd http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Rooibos-Teas/Haute-Chocolate-Rooibos-Tea.axd http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Popular-Tea-Blends/Energy-ChocoLatte-Chai-Tea-Blend.axd http://www.teavana.com/The-Teas/Mate-Teas/My-Morning-Mate-Tea.axd I think they have more, but those are the ones I can find quickly. I really want to try the Tiramisu one! Can you tell I <3 Teavana :D It is looseleaf tea though, so you'll need something to hold the leaves. My BIL gave me this teapot http://www.bodumusa.com/shop/line.asp?MD=2&GID=7&LID=519&CHK=&SLT=&mscssid=BM7XHJTR23V19NAX4WNXVNRT6K2E0EBB It's great, but you can find plenty of other ones online as well.
  6. Ooo, the tea is a really good idea. Especially with the weather cooling off. Plus, many of the teas are naturally sweet, some even have undertones of chocolate in them. I love tea:)
  7. Ok, well if you eat out very much preparing 90% or more of your meals at home will help a lot. If you're looking for menu planning google meals 4 moms. The basic meal plans are free and the others are a very small monthly fee and it includes grocery lists. If you have free time you can make your own as well. I'm making up 10 weekly menu's with corresponding grocery lists and I'm going to just rotate them. I'm done with 4, and mostly done with 5 more. Try to make at least 1 meatless meal a week. It's not as hard as it sounds, there are plenty of good meatless meals. If you're looking for recipe books I like Nourishing Traditions, Dinning on a Dime, as well as online sites like Allrecipes.com and Cooking Light's website. As far as chocolate, one thing I've found is keeping those individually wrapped chocolate squares or fun size candy is good because you can eat a small square vs an entire chocolate bar.
  8. Well, maybe not completely, but I feel so bad right now. Well my 1 year old has been needing a trim for awhile now because her bangs were in her eyes. I was going to take her to the cartoon cuts place that does kids hair, but DH convinced me I should do it myself because 'it can't be that hard' and 'why waste the money'. So, today I decided to try. Man, I have no idea how they got as short as they are, but I feel horrible. I have the conciliation of knowing that baby hair grows fast, and at least now she can see, but my little girl just about looks like Cesar! Has anyone else done this? Am I a horrible mom? ETA: pic
  9. They were taking it with Vicodin, which also has acetaminophen in it. That caused a tylenol overdose. Is that what you're talking about? There was also something awhile ago where they pulled children tylenol cold medicine from the shelves. The measurements weren't precise enough (parents would only look at the age, not weight for dosage), or the parents were giving extra to make it help more or something, but kids under 6 were overdosing too much.
  10. Most people do go to college to make money though. I'm in a writing 101 class and one of the essays we just read this week was called Collegiate Life: An Obituary. One of the things he talks about is the change in demographics, and how today students are much more career oriented and the majority are there because they feel that without a degree they will not be able to get a job that pays decent money. I'm going to school for my English degree right now because it interests me. But I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about work at the moment. But I know that all of my other classmates right now are in school to further their careers.
  11. Teavana Japanese Wild Cherry Green tea My absolute FAVORITE tea ever!
  12. Ok, let me ask you all. For a kid with curly hair how do you get knots out if you don't comb?
  13. AHHHHHH. You all are scaring me. My almost 3 year old has very curly hair. My hair is strait as a board so I have no clue how to take care of her hair. It looks great sometimes, and than other times she looks like a wild thing. Sigh. I'm not fussy person who does hair, how can I ever teach her (or do it in the meantime)
  14. That's fair. I guess by 'college of life' I mostly meant 'not a classroom'. Besides, something in their life probably sparked them in their current direction. I'm also betting most of these people learned more by doing rather than from a textbook.
  15. Less expensive I'll give you, but how does it take up less space than video games? Our cards take up quite a bit more space than our video games. Discs can be consolidated into a small cd case and that's that. Our card box is a HUGE box where we keep all our board games.
  16. Do you have any walk in clinics in your area? They could probably help you out.
  17. http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/02/billionaire-study-harvard-stanford-business-billionaires-colleges-09-wealth.html Want your kid to become one of the richest people in the world? Send them to Harvard. The Cambridge, Mass., school tops our first-ever billionaire college study with an alumni base that features 54 10-figure titans, more than 5% of the world's billionaires. The University of Pennsylvania was third, with 18 billionaires, Columbia tied with Yale for fourth place on the list, each graduating 16 billionaires. Rounding out the list: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (11 billionaires), Northwestern University (10), the University of Chicago (10), Cornell University (9), University of California, Berkeley (9), University of Southern California (9) and University of Texas, Austin (9). Wait a second. It skipped from 1st to third place. Why? At the bottom, the last sentence mentions: Of last year's Forbes 400, at least 46 billionaires did not have a college degree. So second place, far ahead of 3rd, is the college of life. It appears life has a lot to teach a person.
  18. I looked into it real quick, and Ivy Tech is a state wide community college system for Indiana. http://www.ivytech.edu/about/ Ivy Tech Community College is the nation's largest state-wide community college with single accreditation. It is the state's largest public post-secondary institution serving more than 130,000 students a year. So it's a community college, not just a technical school. They seem to offer basically the same degree options as my local cc too.
  19. DH and I used to play a lot. We still have a lot of the cards. It's a lot of fun and we hope to play with our kids when they're older.
  20. I would definitely call. The nurse or doctor can advise you as to whether to come in (though I'm thinking they will want to see her b/c of the possible strep everyone else mentioned)
  21. Nope, he and the frat boys will probably make do with Ramen  I'd mostly suggest stuff that boosts the immune system so he can fight it off. Vit D + C, tea with honey, raw garlic, and lots of rest are the main thi ngs I can think of. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/ColdandFluNews/Story?id=6141948&page=1 There's an interesting news article that gives 10 'super foods' to eat to kick a cold/flu.
  22. Oh, I might try that. I have no idea if I'll manage 50,000 words, but it's worth a shot. Hmm, I wonder if I can fit that in between taking care of 2 kids under 3, 2 dogs, my college class, and taking care of my husband :001_huh:
  23. Lol, if I include kids books its: Goodnight moon Brown bear Brown bear what do you see God gave us you As for myself, Dead before Dark Strangers in Death Magic Kingdom for Sale I haven't had time for heavy stuff, though I have been trying to work my way through Stephen King's The Stand for a few months now. My 'to read' list is miles long, and I'm trying to set a goal of at least a book a month, preferably biweekly. I'm gonna have to start exercising my brain again soon though, I'll have to start reading heavier stuff for my English major soon :001_huh:
  24. Where I go there is only 1 chiropractor and 1 receptionist/aide. He always knows me, my husband, and the girls by name and greets us warmly. The only time someone else is there is if the receptionist is out sick/vacation, and then his wife takes over for the day :)
  25. http://www.cookinglight.com/ Their recipes are basically all in a searchable database. I love the magazine too, but I stopped subscribing after I found all the recipes were online. Be aware when searching though that it can also search it's sister recipe magazine database Southern Living as well, and I don't think those are as healthy. So look at where the recipe came from when you search. http://www.sparkpeople.com also has recipes as well as other weight loss articles and tips.
