  1. I had to make madeleine cookies (with almond flour) because of these books! Never even heard of them before. I remember them as being very tasty. Love Louise Penny's vivid descriptions using all of our senses!
  2. https://www.amazon.com/Dilwale-Dulhania-Jayenge-English-Subtitled/dp/B00ZEBDGII/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3VJENUXTPL0LV&keywords=dilwale+dulhania+le+jayenge&qid=1642354866&sprefix=dilw%2Caps%2C77&sr=8-1 If you want a fantastic way to spend a winter afternoon (snowing a foot by me today) then this Bollywood movie is a blast. Overdramatic romance, fighting, singing, dancing-everything the Indian culture and me love to see in a movie. I also love their action movies-so much fun. Lots of awards.
  3. Praying that nobody looses power and has plenty to keep them happy, warm, and well fed!
  4. Elderberry syrup is super easy to make and much more economical. https://blog.mountainroseherbs.com/elderberry-syrup-recipe
  5. I am interested, but I write nonfiction-psychology, biology, and faith. Is that ok?
  6. I keep grains, legumes, spices, rich creams and sauces, dairy, gluten, alcohol, raw vegetables, and caffeine very limited when my inflammation flares. Probiotics, turmeric, meditation, yoga, walking, massage, sleep, and herbal teas help. Limit frequency of eating and portion sizes.
  7. I prefer to purchase meat that has the least amount of added hormones, nitrates, sugar, and other non healthy additions (organic if at all possible). These are the more expensive meats at the different stores I frequent. Often I find them at reduced clearance prices close to the expiration date. This is when I purchase all I can find and freeze. They may still be more expensive than the less healthier versions of meat, but they are much more affordable than their original prices.
  8. Salsa Verde Chicken (Super easy and delicious) -A package of chicken thighs (I purchase the organic from Costco-not sure on weight) -1 or 2 containers of chicken broth (pending on desired consistency) -1 package of full fat cream cheese -1 jar of salsa verde -1 or 2 pounds of frozen spinach (your preference on vegetable and amount-optional) Combine and cook until chicken is done Serve over cauliflower rice (optional)
  9. I decided to IF for the cellular autophagy (cellular detox) rather than weight loss. I also follow a very low carb diet, moderate to high fat to reduce inflammation in my body. I highly encourage you to watch Dr. Berg on YouTube. He has a huge amount of information on healthy keto and IF. I also read quite a few books on the subject before jumping on the bandwagon. The science makes sense to me. I work 9-5 Monday through Thursday. I start my day around noon with a liquid probiotic and then a green smoothy with seaweeds, ginseng, mushrooms, collagen, protein powder, and all the other powdered blended supplements that I feel necessary. Between clients (I am a therapist) I usually eat a thermos of a veggie, protein and fat soup or stew. I try to eat a smaller snack around 5:30/6 when I arrive home. I have lost some weight, but I am becoming more mindful of my eating habits and working to improve them. Jason Fung is definitely an expert in the field of IF.
  10. IF works well for me-18:6 and one 24 per week. Also, very low carb. I don't have enough digestive enzymes to handle certain carbs, lactose, and to much fat-so smaller meals with more veggies and protein.
  11. I was pleasantly surprised that the 2021 Kindle Paperwhite dropped significantly in price. That was my splurge buy. Everything else was necessary items that I purchased online. Many had !0%-30% discount. I have been pleased. My only brick and mortar shopping has been for groceries.
  12. If you have the 2021 Kindle Paperwhite, is the added expense over the 2018 edition worth it? Thanks!
  13. I'm planning to run a Skinny Turkey 8K on Thursday morning and then have a lazy rest of my day with fabulous books and a homemade veggie pizza.
  14. I always order from Mountain Rose Herbs, https://mountainroseherbs.com/, which I absolutely love. They are very expensive and shipping is expensive. I make syrups and teas for seasonal illnesses. I would also like a recommendation for a reputable and more affordable place to order organic bulk dried herbs and essential oils. Thank you.
  15. I have some Audible credits I must use. I really enjoy well written mysteries. What are your favorites that are Audible credit worthy please? Thanks
  16. Can you use a Vitamix similarly to make almond butter?
  17. I juice often. I juice because I have absorption/digestive issues and the juice is absorbed more easily into the intestines. I have a top quality Omega juicer that leaves very dry pulp. I primarily juice only vegetables-all kinds including lots of greens. I may add a few drops of liquid stevia. It is not typically tasty, but tolerable and extremely beneficial for my health to be able to more completely receive the nutrition from the vegetables. It is time consuming, but well worth it for me. I do think the type of juicer you purchase and your reasons for juicing make the difference.
  18. I use Vanguard.com. I pay the extra percent fee for management services of my retirement accounts. I can arrange phone sessions with them when ever I want and they are very patient to answer all of my questions. Their website has a tremendous amount of educational material. My IRA seems to perform better thank my husbands 401K with Prudential with the school system. We maximize our retirement savings yearly-as we are able.
  19. My inflammation tends to reside in my digestive system with occasional joint issues. I am finding that a non-dairy keto and intermittent fasting has reduced my inflammation tremendously. I also enjoy lots of non pounding aerobic exercise-walking, hiking, biking, swimming, and tons of yoga. I regularly use a foam roller, acupressure tool, sauna, very hot baths, and monthly massage. I think these activities have also helped to reduce my inflammation.
  20. My dh is a high school art teacher of 30 years. Both of these experiences are within driving distance (2-3 hours) from my home. I am thinking of purchasing tickets and was curious if anyone has had the opportunity to experience these and has reviews. https://vangoghexpo.com/ https://chapelsistine.com/exhibition/ Thanks.
  21. Just made an AirBnB reservation in Hartland, VT-between 10-20 miles from both Woodstock and Hanover for 1 week at Christmas. My dc are grown and not living nearby nor are they able to take a week off at Christmas to visit. We plan to be touristy, cross country ski, and snowshoe. Did I make a good decision? I have not yet booked airline tickets and can cancel if desired. I don't know the area well-living in WNC for 30 years and 20+ in Chicago. Thanks!
