  1. I just dealt with this last week. I failed the 1hr (first time). I did the 3hr, fasting first thing in the morning, walked a bit during it too. You should be fine......I was panicking too, but the info that I found (Dr. Sears pregnancy book) states that only 10-15% of women fail both. It was probably a fluke, like mine. ;)
  2. Yeah, come to think of it, most of the stuff she sends is chain mail-type stuff. :glare:
  3. Found it!!! Wow, I had to get the magnifying glass out. Yes, it is on the side of the coin. I'm going to forward this info to the person who is sending the email. Thank you everyone!!
  4. But I got one of these, I'm looking at it right now. It has John Quincy Adams on the front (not the George Washington coin pictured) ther is absolutely no 'In God We Trust' anywhere on the coin. I compared it to the Sacagawea coin that my son collects, the Sacagawea coin does say "In God We Trust" right there on the front.
  5. I received this email today......... ----- Original Message ----- > REFUSE NEW COINS > > This simple action will make a strong statement. > > > Please help do this.. I didn't even notice that 'In God We Trust' was missing!!
  6. We are using SSR&W and loving it!! I have tried every phonics program under the sun but I can safely say that for the first time my children are actually enjoying their lessons. I'm using the Kindergarten (All Aboard & On Track books)with ds4-it's more of what I would consider a preschool level at first, covering letter names and sounds with cutting and pasting, matching, coloring etc. By the end of the year it will begin blends. He loves it and feels included in our school day. Lessons take about 20 minutes. I'm using the 1st Grade (Off We Go & Raceway books)with ds6-he's definitely learning how to read and write and spell I can see it! He started off the year knowing how to read simple CVC words (cat, mat, sat, rat, dog, log, etc) which is what the 'Off We Go' book covers so, we skipped that one and moved right on to Raceway. It stars off with a quick review (all the books have review at first) of letter sounds, vowels and blends (be-d, mo-p, fu-n, da-d etc) It incorporates cutting and pasting, matching, drawing, as well as a few games like bingo and go fish. In just a few short weeks he is now writing complete sentences (he was very reluctant with handwriting), he has no problem with spelling and his reading has really taken off. Lessons take about 30 minutes. I'm also using the Level 2 (Grand Tour 1 & Grand Tour 2) with Ds8 as he has really had some difficulties with spelling. I had tried many different spelling programs but with each one this boy was in tears by the end of the lesson, he just didn't get it. This is the first one that he can do and it's working. He's finally understanding the spelling/grammar rules. It covers vocabulary, grammar, spelling, handwriting, incl. cursive, proofreading and introduces referencing skills. Lessons take about 20-30 minutes. The funny thing is, we don't use the "sing" part of SSR&W, they just aren't into it. I tried it at first but they didn't like the music. It's fine without it. The quality of the material really impressed me also, the workbooks are really high-quality, the readers are very nice, and the charts and games are also great. I was very hesitant about 'forking out the money' for yet another expensive phonics program. I'm so glad I did though, for the first time, my children are asking to do their language arts lessons and I can see that it's really working. I plan on replacing the workbooks each year for the next child in line. (I did find a source for those, seperately. They can be difficult to locate) My children all have extremely different personalities and learning styles but this is one program that is working for all of them. Sorry this was long, I hope it helps. :)
  7. Thank you for posting this. Sure does make sense. (Much more than what the media is spewing :glare:)
  8. I'm in San Diego too!! Wow, there are a lot of us. I agree, we need a meetup!!
  9. I like to add Torani peach flavored syrup to my iced tea. I get it at Cost Plus World Market, it comes in just about every flavor under the sun. YUM!
  10. The no-nonsense approach backfired on us. I used it with ds#3 when he was somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3, basically took away the diapers, put on big boy underpants and said "okay, that's it, time for you to use the potty". I also encouraged him every hour to try to go. He was VERY resistant and to this day will 'hold it' until he's blue in the face. He never has an accident but is still resistant to just go when he needs to. :glare: FWIW, he's also my most stubborn child. The first 2 were easily trained at 2 1/2. (not with the no-nonsense approach) just by reminding them every hour and making it 'fun' by sitting with them while they waited for 'something to happen', singing songs, reading books, etc. and lots and lots of praise when they did it. Just my experience. Hope it helps :)
  11. Reading your post gave me chills, I would be freaking out too!! I did a search and found this site http://www.brownreclusespider.org/brown-recluse-spider-bite-picture.htm There are pictures of bites as well as some info about symptoms and things to look for (on the left column.) Hope this helps.
  12. I get these with every baby, right at the end. I agree, they are really annoying. Everyone is different though, and if you didn't experience them before, it could very well mean that your little one will be here soon. :)
  13. Where do you put the dots? On the tag? I really need to do this too.
  14. I seriously need to get organized! Wow, she did a great job.
  15. Wow!!I'm impressed! We will have to do that next year.
  16. Me too! The problem is......I make lists like "to-do" things around the house (paint the baby's room, paint our room, paint the eaves, re-tile the bathroom) but the list just sits there, collecting dust. Oooops, there's another list 1-dust off all the to-do lists. :D
  17. Nope, I really do think they changed them. They are definitely more crunchy now. They also take much longer to get to proper "mushiness" when dipped in milk. :glare:
