  1. Charlotte is a nice airport for a layover too! They have skylights and rocking chairs in the center😀
  2. Someone can correct me, but I think Charlotte is the only one without a tram/bus, just lots of walking depending on the gates. Those buses confuse me😀But it’s very friendly and I think easy to navigate.
  3. I do the 30 plant products and have found it pretty simple if I’m paying attention and get in the groove. I get a lot of variety from nuts and seeds though. Probably at least 8 a week. I also regularly do 4 types of beans. I don’t do enough vegetables though, so this challenge is a good complement.
  4. Yes, I found breakfast Was key for me in this challenge. If I didn’t get some fruits or veggies in then, it was really hard to make up. That said, I’m trying hard right now to meet a daily protein goal and I eat a lot of nuts and seeds which don’t count. It’s a balancing act to get it all in!
  5. I’ll join in because it does do me good to focus on it. But, we did it for work a few months ago and my competitive side got the best of me. I found myself eating at night even when I wasn’t hungry and some days I would eat 800 grams of watermelon just to check the box. I love the concept though, so hopefully this time around I’ll be more balanced in my approach.
  6. These are such a treat! I’ve never been to Michigan- it’s on my list. Here’s some local WV and southern Ohio pics.
  7. Wonderful! You look fabulous and happy😀
  8. I never look at dates on hard cheese- no mold, it’s fine to eat by me.
  9. In our state, you have had to have worked a certain amount in 2 of the last 5 quarters to have eligibility. Your state unemployment website might have more info on any special programs.
  10. I didn’t even know they could do it without putting you to sleep! Maybe his are out and just need pulled? Instead of extracted.
  11. Definitely someone to go with him and a ride home and stay awhile. My DS was pretty loopy for several hours. We made something, but they do sell these that really help with the icing part of the recovery. https://www.amazon.com/NEWGO®Jaw-Surgery-Implants-Cosmetic-Injections/dp/B07VK72CP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2FXL0VFFKW722&keywords=wisdom+teeth+ice+pack+head+wrap&qid=1695841606&sprefix=wisfom+teet%2Caps%2C143&sr=8-3
  12. I’m not plant based, I call it plant forward. I start with plants, but I eat meat. Sorry for the confusion.
  13. Cronometer is an app like myfitnesspal where you enter all the food you eat and it tells you about all the nutrients in addition to the calories and macros. It is very easy to use, the free version works great, and it has a really extensive library of foods making it easy to enter your daily food choices.
  14. I eat what I consider a plant forward diet. I try to base my meals around plant products, and I eat a lot of nuts and seeds, but I also eat some meat at every meal to keep up all my numbers. I have three nutrition goals that make me feel my best- 800 grams of fruits and vegetables every day, 30 plus different plant products a week and 100 grams of protein a day. I don’t meet those every day, but that’s the goal!
  15. If your child was starting college now, are there any degrees you would think twice about because of future AI? Specifically what about math and/or engineering?
  16. DS kind of went the opposite way. He was pretty excited about NOT going to college and felt certain he could make something work. Unfortunately he wasn’t really into a trades idea, he tried a couple businesses on his own, and looked for entry level jobs with upward mobility. He’s a smart kid, and a good and reliable employee. He’d been working pretty much full time since he was 16 and had some relevant and varied work experience. But when he tried to apply for management trainee positions, office admin, even low level banking, he got zero interest. I know I’m a biased mom, but he would have been up to speed in any of those jobs quickly. None took a lot of technical knowledge. But without a degree, he couldn’t even get a look. Which I get, on paper, a person who made their way with some persistence and got a college degree looks like a better option. So, he’s at college this semester. We’ll see how it all ends up I guess.
  17. I read flat on my back on my kindle too. But I saw an easy stretch for this the other day- lie flat on your back with your knees at a 90 degree angle on a chair or couch or something. Looks like it would feel good! Said to hold for 5 minutes.
  18. Also, I’m not sure there is even car rentals at PKB anymore. The local Hertz office might be able to arrange something, but I don’t think they’re onsite anymore. Probably more info than you wanted to know 🙂
  19. I live close and have flown through PKB. It is very convenient, when everything goes well. There are just no backup flights if something needs changed. There are two flights in and out every day - only connecting in Charlotte. Leave some time to connect in Charlotte as well, as the contour gate is not convenient to other airlines. You can book directly with contour or through American if you don’t want to go Expedia. If you fly into Columbus, I do recommend driving down 33 instead of 70/77. It is a somewhat nicer drive. If you have time and want to sightsee on your way down, you will go right by Hocking Hills which has some pretty scenery and nice hikes. You would also be close to Amish country if that’s of interest, as well as Athens, Ohio which is another cool college town.
  20. Is there any info on reinfection times with these new strains? I am about 60 days out from a covid infection, and getting ready to travel. Just wondering if I have any backup immunity from that recent infection?
  21. Columbus is the closest to Marietta, but it’s still about 2 hours away. Pittsburgh is closer to 3. There is a small local airport- wood county WV, about 15 minutes away, but it only flies countour airlines through Charlotte for connections. You can book the entire way through American Airlines. It can work beautifully, or go very wrong. It’s very reliable other than weather, but then there is really no backup. i’m very close to Marietta if you have any other questions😀
  22. That sounds awful! Sleep is so important. We have a split king and separate blankets as well.
  23. DS21 has kind of decided he has candida. Symptoms are vague other than some white on tongue. And some persistent acne that does seem to be responding to anti fungal treatment. I know nothing about this or why he would have it, other than he used to eat a lot of carbs and sugar. About 6-7 months ago he went on a health kick and started eating a lot better. Maybe it’s a slow die off? Is that possible? Does anyone have experience with this or curing it? Or how a doctor diagnoses it?
