  1. Interesting. It all depends on your plans and your goal.
  2. Jousting I consider wordy. We did that before moving to Foerster's. He loved Jousting, but he did not read much of it on his own. I read it aloud to him. That is just our reality. I've looked at the samples and it seems as wordy as Jousting. So I'm thinking I would be reading a lot of it aloud to him. Frankly, that's why I was considering the online class so that I wouldn't need to read as much to him. I'm a bit disappointed that the class is text based.
  3. I don't want to talk about the weekend. It's behind me. Today was total body I've been not sleeping well the past few nights, and it's draining me.
  4. I do not have any books. I was thinking I should get one and see how he likes it. He works somewhat independently through WWS 1; I do read for him at times because it takes so long for him to read that a large chunk of his time is just reading a passage when he could use that time working. As for his math textbook he's using right now, no he does not read that independently.
  5. Why are course descriptions and list of texts needed? All you put on a transcript is the name of the class, amount of credit, and grade. B&M schools don't include course descriptions or texts used on high school transcripts they give.
  6. Um, yeah. Math = me :willy_nilly: English: WWS 2 (trying to finish level 1 this summer and trying to decide if I should go back to IEW), Daily Grammar Practice, continue AAS, and for Lit study.....undecided. Leaning towards Teaching the Classics Science: undecided; I have RS Bio 2 and Mr Q Advanced Chem; could also try online course through high school. We will finish Mr Q Human A&P this summer History: so so behind this year. Will do Hakim's Story of US and figure out how to ramp it to high school level. History is not his favorite to say the least. Latin: finish online Latin through high school and switch back to BBL 2 per his request German: continue Duolingo and maybe find online course Music: private lessons and continue exams through Royal Music Conservatory and start private theory lessons Logic: No idea. Sigh. Various co-op classes
  7. At this point I feel like we will never wrap up 8th grade
  8. I'm wondering how ds would do with text only for a math class. It's a concern because he is dyslexic. He is taking a text only online class for Latin and does not like it, but he's doing well in the class. He could do better, but he doesn't spend as much time as he maybe should.
  9. Read Boys and Girls Learn Differently by Michael Gurian
  10. I have the hardest time searching these forums. Can you tell me about your experience with AoPS online classes? I am trying to decide if it would be a good fit my ds as opposed to just doing textbooks/videos/alcumus on his own. I have read here that they are fast paced. For those of you who use AoPS but not the online class, why?
  11. I think you can ask the groom about it BUT do not ask the brother to be in the ceremony without asking the groom. My mom did that to me. She asked 3 women to be bridesmaids and made my sister maid of honor without asking me. I'd had no intention of those 3 women being in the ceremony. However, my mom informed me they would be bridesmaids after they had accepted. What was I supposed to do? Call them and tell them that I had not planned on asking them and my mom asked them without asking me first? Just don't do that!
  12. I can't get over that she is wearing *heels*. Is she wearing pantyhose as well? All I can think is that the LAST thing I would have wanted to wear 10 hours after giving birth is a pair of pantyhose. The postpartum bleeding yuckiness and pantyhose? Shudder I was wearing freaking depends underwear due to the amount of pp bleeding. Blech.
  13. Become informed about Small Dog Syndrome and don't fall into that trap.
  14. Yes, and there a few adults who are able to remember that world. I'm always impressed by them.
  15. That is exactly how I felt when I finished.
  16. Thanks! I was wondering if I could make it with stevia.
  17. What is weird for me is not weird for you and vice versa. I don't keep my music private. However, my dh has told me he strongly prefers it if I keep my *singing* of music private. :glare:
  18. I don't drink soda and very little candy. However, do NOT try to take my cookies. I likes my cookies. Speaking of cookies, they disappear quickly in the presence of children. They were faster than me and there were more of them and only one me.
  19. Yes! I love The Graveyard Book. Love it. I've read M is for Magic (collection of short stories), The Graveyard Book, The Ocean, and Anansi Boys. Graveyard Book is my favorite and Ocean is my second.
  20. Lower body didn't go as heavy on the dead lifts as my tush is still a little tired from a few days ago. I made peanut butter cookies last night for our guests today. Of course I had to taste a few. I mean I won't want to serve disgusting cookies. So, I am practicing self control by not eating any more today. Yet, my brain keeps telling me that peanut butter is a healthy fat. Yes, brown sugar is an ingredient, but that's the only bad part. The ingredients are just peanut butter, egg, and brown sugar. They are practically just little protein pellets! Healthy junk food! Right?
  21. My kids are barefoot more than they wear shoes. Often we drive someplace only to realize someone is not wearing shoes. That can get annoying. I try to keep a pair of flip flops in the car for each kid.
