  1. :iagree: I would not back down on this--- threaten to go to the media (print and TV) and don't let up. In the meantime, I would be looking again. If they back down, great, if not, oh well. :grouphug: I, too, hate buying cars!!
  2. Help! In looking at colleges, most specify that in order to receive freshman scholarships, a student must have no more than XX college credits (varies by Uni). My confusion is what is a "Freshman Scholarship"? For instance, if my kids earn enough cc credits that put them over that mark, would they be ineligible for merit scholarships like those for ACT/SAT/PSAT scores? I have no experience with scholarships (thanks to a no good counselor in high school!), so I'm out of my league here. Can anyone help me? The cc is registering for fall now, and I don't know what to do!! *insert puling hair smiley* Thanks in advance!!
  3. I'm so glad you're home. Now get some rest and heal yourself. :grouphug:
  4. That is FANTASTIC news!!!!
  5. I know you're filing a report just in case, but I agree with the others that it was most likely a predator. Two or three years ago I found a brown (wild) bunny, headless, in my back yard. In my 6ft privacy fenced, padlocked back yard. It was just in the middle of the yard and there was no blood, no scratches, no fur ruffled, nothing. It was like a laser had cut off the head and cauterized as it went. I searched and searched for the head (wanted to find it 'sooner' rather than 'later') and I never did find it. It was a while later that I remembered hearing a great horned owl hooting in the trees a few nights before so I wondered if it could have been the owl. Either way, it was one of the most gross things I have ever had to clean up!! I hope you don't have to deal with that again. It is gross and traumatizing! :ack2: And it's even worse as it was someone's pet. Hopefully it was over so fast the bunny didn't know what happened!
  6. Thinking of you all. Please keep us updated.:grouphug::grouphug:
  7. Thanks for the updates. Sorry to hear it wasn't a false alarm, though. Still thinking of you and your family!!:grouphug::grouphug:
  8. Regarding the part I bolded: I got something similar not too long ago when talking to a friend. 'Twas both funny and awkward at the same time!
  9. Oh, gosh. Thinking of your ds, you, and your family. :grouphug::grouphug:
  10. Poor baby! I was wondering how he was doing and was about to resurrect the other thread. I love your kitty's name. With a name like that he'll be better in no time!! :D I'll be sending him positive thoughts!! {{Thor}}
  11. Wow. I wish I had known that a few years ago! I have one of their programs and we never really got into it. It's been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. I keep meaning to sell it, but haven't got around to it. Thanks for sharing so others will know what a great company they are. ETA: We liked the product, but I bought "B" when I think my kids were ready for "C".
  12. :iagree: That's what I was going to suggest, too. Are there pets that sleep in or on the bed?
  13. I'm glad you are happy with how it turned out!! I remember how frustrated you were with the delay in knowing where you would be going. Congrats to your dd on her scholarship! I sent you a PM, too.
  14. You're welcome, but I'll bet it's not all that helpful. ;) I just wanted to share "just in case", KWIM? I never would have thought about an infection, since there was no obvious wound and he let us touch it, pick him up, etc. I was of the mind to wait and see as last year I dragged the same cat to the vet (20 miles away) for something similar, only to be told "he's fine, let him rest" and didn't want to hear that again, but when it didn't get better this time, I took him out of guilt. I'm glad I did! Hope your kitty feels better soon.
  15. I didn't see the show, but read an excerpt of it. I applaud him for what he is trying to do, but I have a feeling he could go about it in a different way. I agree that there is a lot of hype to draw viewers. I just wanted to comment on your flavored milk question. I grew up in Florida and every.single.day for grades K-11 (until I moved to a different state) the milk was lukewarm. Blech. Seriously---- the 'wheeled coolers' were NEVER plugged in, so the milk got warm fast. I chose chocolate flavored milk to cover the yucky taste of gross, warm unflavored white milk. Sadly, to this day, I can't drink milk *at all* ---- I'm sure it's because of my school years and having to drink that warm milk. :ack2:
  16. Quoting you, Shelly, since Quill quoted your post and it doesn't show up when I quote Quill. :) I would probably take the cat in for a visit/antibiotic. We just had this happen to one of our cats... he was fine when he went out but came back in limping. There was no obvious damage to his leg, though. After several days, the leg was swollen, but he still walked on it, sometimes even normally. We finally took him in and the vet gave us an antibiotic "just in case" there was bacteria inside. The leg wasn't hard or warm and didn't seem to be painful (as abscesses usually are, as Shelly mentioned). Where the swelling was, it was very soft and the cat just pulled away gently when we palpated it. The swelling ran the entire length of the front leg from "ankle" to "elbow". However, less than 24 hours after starting the antibiotics, the swelling went down. About the 3rd or 4th day, a teeny tiny spot of fur fell out (smaller than pea-sized) and lo and behold, a tiny wound was there, most likely from a scrape of some sort. Neither we nor the vet saw it when examining the leg. Kitty is now fine, but isn't a fan of the salmon-flavored antibiotics. :tongue_smilie: So, that's my long way of giving my $.02 and voting to take him in to be seen. :D
  17. It's been a long time since I had to deal with this, and I honestly can't remember what we did other than to 'work through it', but I did have an idea while reading your post. Maybe have her write (with your help) '2' and then a '6' right next to it (like 26), so they are 'almost touching' at the rounded part. Show her that they are 'back to back' and how the 2 comes first when counting. Maybe making some memory trick out of that will help. I'm not sure if that's even making sense, but I thought I'd at least give your post a bump! :D
  18. Wow. I'm the first to vote "other". :001_smile: I don't necessarily believe in ghosts, nor do I disbelieve in them, so for the most part I *would* stay in a 'haunted' hotel. That said, however, I would be less likely to stay there if the 'hauntings' were of an evil sort.
  19. Awww! What sweet memories! My kids would come down over, and over, and over.... that's where I would sometimes begin to feel frustrated, but I would really try not to show it as those little smiles were just soooo adorable! And their eyebrows would raise up just the slightest as they smiled at me.... I wish I had a photo or video of them at those times with their pajamas on and their hair a little mussed.... Precious!!
  20. I like Mr. Cool Sunglasses Dude a.k.a (to me) Mr. Sarcasm. I'm with you on Mr. Hat Dude. Why is he even here?
  21. Oh, it doesn't bother me so much as perplex me. Now I just laugh and sometimes use it to my advantage. Love it, love it!! I bet you need to clear your search history now! Yeah, especially if you inadvertently found what you searched for, but what you searched for wasn't what you wanted. For instance, what if someone is looking for a particular sporting goods store and types in *name*.com and gets a horrible surprise when, after getting pop-ups of a certain, er, type, that person realizes that the store is often referred to with a **nickname** and not the store's real/full name at all? So, in reality, while the person wanted a sporting goods store, the person really did find what they searched for. :tongue_smilie:
  22. :iagree:This. My kids are older now, but when they were young.... yep, I treasured it. Often, I would be tired (exhausted!) and I would want to sigh with frustration, but something about those moments are just so sweet!
