Please post about your first day, I'd love to know how things went!

  2. I am tired of people correcting me and calling me "teacher" as they do it. Grrrr.

  3. This is how I outline those subjects on my notification. IMO sewing is artwork. G. Fine Arts, including Music Create personal artwork utilizing different techniques and materials. Exposure to a variety of music genres, artists and instruments. H. First aid, safety and fire prevention Incorporating these into everyday life. I don't list any materials for these subjects.
  4. Our 7th grade plans... Keeping it simple so there's plenty of time to explore his interests. Math - Lial's BCM and LOF PreAlgebra with Biology Literature - Teaching the Classics Writing - The Writer's Jungle Science - Elemental Science LS Biology History - Story of the World Vol. 2 (second half) & Vol. 3 Extras - Logic, Art, Music, PE, etc... No plan, just playing these by ear.
  5. I have never seen any of the IEW DVDs and did All Things Fun and Fascinating last year with ds10. I just had a generally idea of how the program worked before we started. I did a lot of reading online about the program. I joined the IEW yahoo group and read a lot of good info there. I think one of the biggest helps while going through the theme book was the free webinars. http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/webinar-archive There's one for each unit. I don't have any experience with MCT, but with ATFF we had plenty of time to do other writing assignments.
  6. In series there is one component after another and all of the electrons pass through each and every component. The electrons get tired or weak so they don't have their full energy to give to each component. In parallel each component is on a seperate path and each electron only travels down one of the paths. So the components on each path gets the full energy of the electrons that go down its path. So your first question I believe the answer is A And the second question I think is D. Once you start doing the hands on part of building and seeing the different circuits in action it will be easier to understand.
  7. A short circuit is a path from the postive end of the power source right back to the negative end of the power source with nothing in between to slow the electrons down. There needs to be a light, motor or some form of resistance along the path (switches don't count since it's no different than a regular wire when it's closed). A short circuit diagram may look as if it has various components but if you look carefully there should be a path there that goes from the positive terminal back to the negative terminal while by passing all of the components.
  8. My husband donated a kidney to his father. Based on that experience, I'd have to say no. I would only donate to save one of my children.
  9. :iagree: :iagree: Common knowledge seems to be getting crossed up with what people want other people know. There are plenty of things I would love to know. Rather or not my brain has the ability to retain that information is not always my choice. I don't believe anyone with learning or memory difficulties has choosen it. So while there is information that most people seem to know, I feel it is unfair to say that someone "should" know something.
  10. Thank you for considering my feelings. It's not fun to eat humble pie... nor is it fun to fall off high horses. I don't feel like I'm the only one here lacking knowledge, but that's a whole new thread. So I'll just go back to eating my pie.:)
  11. No, I'm not sorry I asked. I'm clearly in the minority here and that's okay. I learned something. I'm very sorry that you feel like that was a punch in the gut. I am very aware of the Holocaust and the camps in general. The fact that I don't remember the name is not for lack of caring. Names and dates don't stick with me. When my family and friends are talking about famous movie people and such I'm lost until one of them describes to me what the person looks like. That's just how my mind works. So really I'm not surprised to find myself the odd woman out here. It's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last.
