  1. You might look into having your membranes stripped prior to an induction. My dr did that on my second pregnancy real well and I was in labor the next day which was her due date. My next 2 babies were way overdue and my midwife wouldn't do it so we ended up being induced. Definitely check the policies where u are about that because here they are really friendly at only 1 hospital the rest you are stuck in bed. Also a foley bulb can be used to start labor at times and requires no mess given. That is how they started my induction this last time and it went real well :)
  2. Around here it varies depending where u are but there is a 13 acre piece for sell for 85000 and then add the house on top of that so probably near 300,000 for a nicer house around here.
  3. Well they both have been doing pretty good so thanks for the advice. As it turns out my dog is kinda scared of the kitten :)
  4. I'm not a morning person but I try an hour before the kids. I am up at 7 and then the baby will sometimes wake up around then or later depending on the day. The rest of the kids usually wake up around 8. They probably let me have my hour since they go to bed later. If I lay them down early for bed they are up early.
  5. We did introduce them last night. My dh held the kitten and Coco kinda jumped around dh while I stayed with her. The kitten just kinda hissed at her the whole time. Do you think after many repeat exposures the kitten will mellow some? It seems pretty calm so far and has survived all 4 of my kids so that is probably a huge adjustment for it so far anyway :)
  6. My dh rescued a little kitten...probably about 12 weeks old. We told the kids we weren't sure if we would keep it or find another home for it. It all depends on if we can get our dog to tolerate it and not try to eat it :) Our dog is a medium sized dog and very playful. Anyway, we have never had both cat and dog at the same time so wondering if anyone has some tips to help them tolerate each other :)
  7. This last year we used Beyond. I loved it and it was a great fit for my 2nd grader at the time. I tried to tag my K student on but it didn't work out too well for the whole program. She did do well joining in a lot of the activities for science (My 2 year old at the time tagged along for some of these too). If I had to do it again I would probably used Beyond with the 2nd grader and just focused on Reading, writing, and math with my K'er :)
  8. I'm only on core C but my ds can do a lot of it on his own. He does science on his own with just a little help with experiments. I use the IG to make sure he is comprehending all he reads. The only problem with just the readers and RA is that you are missing the history spine. I know people do the cores independently. You may want to pick a core where your DC is in the upper part of the age range. http://www.se7en.org.za/ This is a blog that a mom does who has 8 kids insouth Africa and each does their own level of SL mostly independently.
  9. Thank you those are great ideas! Totally forgot about the mental math work in the HIG. I will get that out and have him review some each day and then maybe get the IP and CWP for over the summer. Love the ideas about using the money for borrowing. I don't think he would mind doing that at all :)
  10. My ds LOVES SM!! We have tried TT, Horizons, and MUS and he wont have anything to do with anything other than SM lol. Anyway we are coming across the problem of him not remembering concepts very well. We are on 2B and working on Multiplication and Division and he is forgetting how to carry and borrow with addition and subtraction. Is there anything I can add in that can help with review, or should i look into another program with more review. I hate to switch because he likes SM, but I don't want this to be a constant thing about forgetting how to do what he has learned already because of lack of review. Or maybe I am worrying for nothing :) Thanks for the advice :)
  11. http://www.homeschoolhelperonline.com/notebooking_history_geography.shtml Here are some notebooking pages also
  12. We tried book 4 but it was so confusing since most of it covers syllables and the rules of dividing words. It truthfully confused me. We went on to book 5 and had no problem.
  13. We were disappointed too by LHFHG. Some of the parts are great but overall not a winner. I added SL P4/5 along with it and helped. You can always for now add to it books from the Sonlight catalogue and FIAR book list and even veritas list. I will say that we did like Beyond a lot more than LHFHG but not enough to stick with HOD
  14. Thank u that's what I needed :)
  15. I guess that was what I was mainly wondering. I've only done level 1 of SE and didn't remember them having great writing instruction. I wasn't sure if I might need to add in something, especially for my 3rd grader.
  16. http://groups.yahoo....annah_hs_helps/ Hannah HS helps has some timelines that go with SOTW 2 and also cards like VP cards that are nice and free :) http://runofthemillf...y-of-world.html This one has some lapbooking stuff to go along with it http://elementalblog...e-world-series/ This last one if you click on SOTW she has a whole schedule of things in a Sonlight format
  17. They are both using SL readers, AAS and Shurley English at their own levels. Is there anything else I need to add in. They are 1st and 3rd grade.
  18. I feel like I'm constantly changing the little guy. My kids love to get dirty with food and dirt and anything else. I have a friend who has a baby the same age and he could probably stay in an outfit for a week the kid is so clean and the mom isn't constantly over him making sure he doesn't get dirty? Probably goes through 4 or more outfits a day :) Just wondering...
  19. Each program is good. If your dc can't sit through chapter RA books then I would rule out SL A. I like the Core, but some of the books are a little much at 5, but it is a good program overall. I've used about half of LHFHG this year with my dd and all of P4/5 and I like the books in P4/5 more than LHFHG. Little hearts is good with the history, but my kids like more science than it has and they didn't like the rhyme time and creative play ideas. My dd tends to be more of the type A personality and wants to make stuff up on her own. I like HOD, just not really LHFHG, we did like BLHFHG Also there weren't many pictures in the Burgess Books so her interest was a little lower with those. My older dc like the Burgess books though. We haven't used MFW before so I don't know how that one is :)
  20. Sci and history spines for Core A are very visual so I think that helps a lot and the readings are a lot shorter. The Read alouds are great also that come with the Core too so saves you some trips to the library :) I love SOTW too but I am waiting for 2nd grade with my dd to jump into it (I'll combine it with Core B)
  21. Can you find another ob this late. My third baby measured large and she gave me no other option than a c section. I found a midwife for the next baby who was very supportive and I was able to vac with that one. I hate csections though, have had 2. They said they have had no problem delivering 9 and even 10 lb babies and my last birth was the best out of the 4 and having someone not push me was great too
  22. Another vote for the moby :) it also helps my knees since I tend to carry a baby on one side so having the baby up front helps with more even distribution too :)
  23. I really hated what they did with Belle. I guess they need to beef up the bad guys again since they were all getting a little soft ;) What I"m wondering is what happened to the Dad of the boy? Here's the plot for the next episode... With the aid of Hook, Regina attempts to put a plan in motion that will help transport herself and Henry back to Fairytale land. But her plan revolves around a fail-safe that was planted within the curse, which if triggered could wipe Storybrooke off the map - and kill all of its inhabitants; and Emma's suspicions about Tamara grow. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, the Evil Queen asks Rumplestiltskin to transform her into an unrecognizable peasant in order to kill an unsuspecting Snow White, with the twisted aim of earning the love and respect of her subjects I hate having to wait a week for the next episode ;)
  24. Can I skip it? Or would I be missing out on too much. Right now it is torture to my ds :) I love the grammar portion of it so still want to use it for now. Thanks
  25. They really build upon themselves nicely. My ds actually reads them all himself but I like to read them too to find out what is going on with Fred ;) they are a little expensive but well worth it for us because it has given my math hating son a love for math :)
