  7. thank you! I am really going to try and make R&S work, I feel like it was a good choice....I dont want to change. I think I need to break it up more though....too much all at once. Maybe we will do the flashcards before bed with daddy????
  8. Well, I tried to break out Right start and she screamed about it being "kindergarten math" I diddle daddle in it with her brother who is a K'er. Anyways, we went back to the R&S book and brought the abacus with us.....we did the problems together and I let her see how the numbers relate to eachother (that helped a little) I really feel that I HAVE to get her grounded in facts...especially after seeing her brother struggle as a 4th grader (still counts on fingers). I made the mistake with him in doing too much conceptual math. Thank you for your support!!!
  9. I am afraid that may be the answer.....ugh. I so did NOT Want to have to switch....and I just cant do two programs, not with having four kids who needs math instruction. So I have to scrap R&S....she is getting burned OUT! I am afraid that she will not learn this way....the memorizing way. She is not taking to it....she may be more conceptual. I have RightStart B on my shelf....I suppose I need to break that out..... I am so tired.
  10. Everytime I bring out the math she yells and rolls on the floor...she says its too much, too hard! I know its because its all drill drill drill. But, I made the mistake of not doing doing drill drill drill with ds (did BJU) and he still suffers as a fourth grader to get it! So, I vowed I would not let dd2nd get away without knowing her facts....R&S seemed the best way to do it. What to do??!!! I dont want to drop it, she shouldnt get her way....just because she is homeschooled. But she is literally making me go MAD!!!:banghead::cursing::cursing::banghead: And, we dont do the whole page...we do 1/2 page. I simplify it and sit with her, but she DREADS it everyday and I am so tired and worn out!!!
  11. i should have.....its been a bad day, hiding in my room right now!:banghead:
  12. boy, come to our church and community!!! We'd LOVE him, he'd fit right in....seriously. Its a shame what they are doing to him, remind him that its not like that everywhere and God will provide...

  14. Is it enough for me to do the whole town package? She has had GWG 3-5 up to this point, do I need to do GWG 6 or BJU Eng 6 as well? Can I just do MCT, will that be enough?? We are also doing SWB's new writing 5th grade pilot program. Any opinions, cause it would be nice to simplify....kinda stressed over here!!!:001_huh:
  15. Well, I try NEVEr to use the word never. But, public school is NOT an option! Not as long as I am healthy and alive! :)

  19. I know I want the kids to get out into nature more this year to study it and enjoy it, draw it, record it, journal it.....and, I now have this HUGE resource...how do I go about using it? Do I have them find something, then we identify it with this book? Or do we start with the book, then try and find something? So many times I get a great resouceful book, and it ends up sitting on the shelf! CAn anyone share with me how they do nature walks, nature days....nature studies?? THANKS SO MUCH!! :D
