  1. In your opinion would a child be able to enter CC at the Challenge A level when they haven't done CC before? My DD is behind in Saxon Math (we are completing 6/5 this year) and she is not very motivated. She struggles with completing assignments and complains about everything. I was hoping CC would give her more accountability and she would be in the class with 2 of her friends. I was thinking for next year when she would be in 7th grade. What are your thoughts? Thank you. Karen
  2. Has anyone taught SOTW 3 in a co-op setting and are willing to share any tips or has blogged their journey? We are setting up a co-op for next year and any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. We got our son Snap Circuits for the first time also, based on Hive recommendations! He loves it as well!!! Thanks Hive!
  4. :grouphug: I am so sorry. Our kittens and our dogs are part of the family!
  5. We tried CLE social studies with our 5th grader. It is very dry and the if you are used to the Sunrise Editions - you will hate it!! We quit only after a few lessons.
  6. I had mine a couple of years ago. General anesthetic and I was fine the next day. Minimal weight restrictions. I had a worse time with a laporoscopy that was done a few years before!
  7. I would love a Kindle, but money being what it is, dh and I are just concentrating on the kids!
  8. I would toss it too. But I freeze my shredded zucchini to make bread after every garden season. I freeze whatever amount I need (usually 2 cups for bread) in Ziploc freezer bags and it works great. Just make sure you drain it well.
  9. Would you use R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey for 3rd and 5th grade? If not, do you have another suggestion? We have had limited science exposure. Thanks!
  10. :smilielol5:Your son provided a much needed laugh today. Thanks for sharing!
  11. We are under the "rarely" category and I go through bouts when it really bothers me. My mom and stepdad both died the year before I got married and never got to see my daughter and son. I have no other family - living except my bio-dad who just came back into my life when dd was born. My MIL just has no interest in doing a lot of things with the kids. It has always been an issue for me because my mom and I were close and I know how much she would have loved being a grandma. My girlfriend and her mom are always doing things together with the kids (she homeschools too) and it hurts a little.
  12. I was in the kitchen overhearing a conversation my son (8) was having with his cousin (also 8). Cousin: I have a DS game that is rated M for mature! Son: You shouldn't play that. It's for grown ups! Cousin: No it isn't. Son: Yes, it is. That's what mature means. Cousin: That's not true. Mature means crazy! At least I know my son had it right!
