  1. I don't think dh is all in for feeding whatever he saw. The poor man is sufficiently freaked out. I didn't see what he saw, but over the years I have felt oddly in my home. And, he's not the first person who has "seen" stuff here. A few years ago we took a vacation and we had someone stay in our home to do our job for us (which requires staying in our home). That person reported (with a phone call to us in Hawaii) that she saw an American Indian walking through our house and right out the back to the river behind. I don't think dh saw an American Indian. I think what he saw was not something...good.
  2. Thanks for the hug. I'm a former Catholic, dh is Lutheran (so has no experience or learned knowledge of...this sort of thing), and the visitor was Apostolic Catholic (not the same as me - I think I would have been Orthodox - I'm not completely certain) - if that helps anyone.
  3. That was suggested by three different people. Imp - this is craziness!
  4. Okay, here is the vague situation; someone came to visit someone who lives in my house who is not related to us (but who has lived here for many years). When this person came over, dh noticed...shadows...swift, and fleeting, but there none the less (three in all, in different places within view of the visitor), and it kind of freaked him out (okay, "kind of" a lot). In later conversations with the visitor, he discovered this person "sees" things (she used a different name for the "things" she sees). My dh is not a "ghost hunter" sort of fellow. He is not crazy, nor is he paranoid. Our house is kind of a sprawling place. Our dogs tend to stay in our area of the house. Our lab, who is a...sensitive...sort of girl (see this post about her), was allowed to explore areas of the house usually not allowed to her tonight. She played along while sniffing out things, until she came to two of the areas where dh said he saw these odd shadows that gave him the creeps. When she approached them, it was gingerly, nose ahead - but she immediately came running back to me with her tail between her legs and refused to get any closer. This was in two different areas of the house - the third area where dh saw the "shadows" was beyond one of the other two areas, where the dog wasn't even willing to pass. Kinda freaked out. If you have any knowledge or experience with strange things of this sort, please let me know - pm me if you'd like to. Dh was sufficiently freaked out before the dog's part in the whole thing (I mean, goosebumps, unease, generally not good feelings), but now with Rosie's reaction to the same areas...I don't know. I really just don't know. There is more to the story, but I'm not feeling comfy putting it out here on a public forum, kwim? I'm not new here, for anyone who may not know me. I'm not cracked and not paranoid and the people who know me IRL call me Miss Logical and think I'm a smarta$$ stick in the mud. I'm just curious about this possible situation and know you all are an enlightened bunch who can offer some reasonable insight. TIA
  5. Haven't noticed in years. I did when they were younger, but I would say right around that 4-5 year mark, either not many people said anything, or my kids and I stopped noticing the questions and interested looks.
  6. Good grief - that must be where I've gone wrong in my life; all those da*n apples. Can't believe no one was kind enough to tell me. :glare:
  7. Woot! Congrats on the jeans - and that beautiful baby!
  8. Lol! I've seen it - I think we even own it. Perhaps I should rewatch it to shake my NotLovingChristmas mood. But, they were going to head off on their own; I would take dh and the kids for sure, and hope that the in-laws and my family came too.
  9. The season hasn't even begun yet, and I'm ready to book a trip to the Caribbean. I asked my mom if she'd be okay with that and she nearly blew her eyeball right out of her head. I'm afraid to suggest it to anyone else. But, if I could harness all the silly cash spent on "gift cards" and all the obligatory guesses as to which gifts someone won't want to return, we could take a very nice vacation to somewhere...not so cold. And if They did that, too, we could all go together and spend Christmas simply enjoying one another. Who is with me (at least in theory)?
  10. A great many of us for several generations have found ourselves living in a situation where we don't exactly "fit in", and many of us have lived in an area in which we may not belong long term. I say teach your child to the best of your ability, and teach them well, because what you teach them now, and what they will witness outside of your teaching, will help them to be the individuals they will eventually become, and arm them with the tools they will need, regardless of any current situation.
  11. I make stock from the turkey, but otherwise we just eat the leftovers. This year, though, we didn't have that many - enough for sandwiches for lunch and a bunch of various things for dinner. Back to cooking tomorrow - some kind of turkey soup for sure.
  12. I take it out of the fridge at least 30 minutes to let it acclimate before I put it into the oven.
  13. Gag. Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. In fact, I personally don't know anyone irl who actually does like it.
  14. Hmm. This is hard. Will get back to you. Hmm...
  15. I think I have it - a cross between Mrs W., Roseanne, and Martha Stewart. Can you see it? Okay, fine. Leaning more toward Roseanne, but I threw M S in there just for the food factor (not the insider trading and great table setting aspect). Now you.
  16. Resembles you? Not necessarily who you would like to be seen as, but whose character you think yours is most closely related? That's a tough one for me. I'm with my dd - I'm a cross between Mrs W. and Aja (and I did not like Aja in the beginning - I just...understood her). I'm sure there are more, so I'm going to come back and tell what I think mine is (are) when I come up with them, because, well, it's a hard question, and I'd like to get it right. It can be a combination of characters, from movies or books or whatever.
  17.:lol::lol: (oh my goodness, I think I just hurt myself from laughing so hard!)
  18. Same here - between Aja and "possibly" Alaska, I'm not winning any Mom of the Year Awards!
  19. Can you get away without making it and just making something else in its place? I'm just asking because if it's not in season, it might not be necessary for a Thanksgiving meal, which I consider to be an in-season sort of meal. Although, winter squash is in season. At least, it is here. And it's cheap. I just bought "fresh" green beans, and boy did I have to pick through that offering at the grocery store to find any that were decent. I feel like I should have just stuck with brussels sprouts. I might just do that, anyway, to be honest.
