  1. I so totally agree. I don't even think the Chinese girl was of age to add insult to injury. Our girl ROCKED her routine and should have won hands-down!
  2. Sept 8th! We like to take family vacations after Labor Day to give the college kids a chance to get off the beach, THEN start school! :001_smile:
  3. Another vote for Audible. I'm on the extrie delicious $15 a month plan. My ipod and I love audiobooks!
  4. . . . but last year we could count on a good 5 to 6 hours each day. That does include about an hour for lunch though. If we have to go to any of his enrichment classes during the day, add another 2 hours onto that, but that includes time in the car as well. This year I'm anticipating about the same. I try to squish subjects together as much as I can, but at this age, it just takes time.
  5. Wow! That website looks like a complete course, if you go to the site map, the entire textbook is available as a PDF, and FREE. Yummy! :D I thought I had other things to do today, now I guess I'm going to be clicking that website to death to see if it has everything I need.
  6. I hope to get it sometime this week IF they ship promptly. I've heard some hit and miss stories regarding their customer service, but it's a WP exclusive and the way they made it sound, they'd ship it right away. I'll post a little review when I receive it.
  7. I did get in touch with someone there. That package that someone posted the link to earlier for $99 did include the schedule and the 5 books listed, but you can get the schedule by itself for $20 plus $5 shipping, but they said they' ship it priority mail. I sort of went over the numbers and you do save a smidgen of money by just ordering the schedule from them and getting the books from Amazon, because they have shipping of $10 on top of the $99. The books add up to about $75 from Amazon (with free shipping) plus the $25 total for the schedule . . . so I'm sure you can do the math on your own. :D Also my local library has 4 of the 5 books, so perhaps you could save even more that way. Anywho, I haven't received the schedule yet. I may get it and totally want to toss it, but to me it's worth the $25 just to look over it. It may be something I can tweak to fit my needs. You know how it is.:tongue_smilie:
  8. He's so awesome, but I'm having more fun watching his Mom watching him than I am actually watching him win the races. YKWIM? She's so proud of him. It makes you feel good for all Moms and sons to see their close love and relationship.
  9. Shoot! I've got to get over to the Watercube, just reading that menu in my own house made me gain 10 pounds. Apparently everyone in there looks amazing. . . . I'm packing my bags! :auto:
  10. $104 a month. They have classes every day at 12 noon (perfect for homeschoolers) and two classes every night 7:00pm and 8:15pm and you are welcome to go to as many classes as you like and encouraged to go to at least 3 a week. It includes your first uniform, any extra you want, you'll need to pay for. Belt testing is quarterly and cost $17.50. They learn forms, self defense, and weapons training (those we pay extra for and the price varies depending on the weapon). They also offer self defense, MMA, boxing, kickboxing, and several all ladies classes. You can attend as many programs/classes you like for the $104 a month AND they are open 6 days a week, closed on Sunday to give the poor instructors a break. We LOVE it! :001_smile:
  11. I think you did the perfect thing. Sometimes it's very difficult for us Moms to stand up for ourselves and we end up being walked all over whether it is on purpose or by mistake, you were paying for a service that was very poorly and in that one instance not at all provided. Don't feel guilty for valuing your own time and money. It is VERY hard to come by these days. Bravo for you! :hurray: Now go forth and find a piano teacher worthy of that check!
  12. Hurray and Congratulations! What a beautiful baby and a beautiful name! Get some rest and can't wait to hear from you on board again!
  13. I agree that you can get out of anything what you can put into it. I was schooled exclusively with ACE growing up overseas and I think I turned out just fine (of course YMMV with that statement:001_smile:.) I did very well on SAT, went to college on full academic scholarship, and did very well in my career of choice until I decided to stay home full time. I've always been an independent thinker, even when I was doing the ACE curriculum I didn't fully agree with the extreme conservative religious slant, and never missed an opportunity to tell my administrator so (which led to me being kicked out of said school and home schooled - but still using ACE curriculum - My poor folks! But that's a whole 'nother post). Anyway, like with all curriculum it's a personal choice. A lot of people consider it inferior, but I don't really accept that. I think it's just different. Like with anything else, if you commit to it, it'll all come out in the wash. Boy, that turned out longer and more rambling than I thought it would. I hope it helped a little, LOL.
  14. Thinking Happy Thoughts for you! My spouse had this same surgery not too long ago. It's not overly complicated but does require sufficient rest when you get home. Not just the measly three days they tell you when you leave the hospital. Take care!
  15. :iagree: I so totally agree. It sure has turned out to be a disaster. I'd also like to be thrown in the bag with the other ladies. Aren't we a complicated bag of mixed nuts! :D
  16. :iagree: I SO thought I was the only one. I do meal plan religiously every month of every year of my natural life. But I have to admit, I get absolutely positively NO JOY from it whatsoever. I'm missing a seriously big chunk of the Mom gene.
  17. We are taking our family vacation this year the first couple of weeks of September to give all the college kids a chance to get back to class. We love having the beaches all to ourselves. Then we'll start school the last week or so of September. It's your world. Live it how you see fit.
  18. It's so sad. He was one of my favorites. Whenever I'm bummed out, I put on my Kings of Comedy dvd and laugh myself silly. He stole that whole show. They still show his tv show in reruns at night here and I watch him during the afternoon, it's better than a lot of daytime tv stuff. It's so sad. He just seems so ALIVE. Death is the pits. Nothing nice about it. Prayers to his family.
  19. :grouphug: I hope all turns out well. Sending good thoughts to your whole family.
  20. I love it when people are quick, short and to the point! You Rock!
  21. :iagree: I so totally agree. I don't think it matters whether you're a democrat or a republican, or whatever else you want to be. He's a sorry you-know-what. *SIGH*
  22. They came really fast. I didn't even know what they were until I opened them. I haven't started watching them though, but I can't wait. :001_smile:
  23. Thanks you SO MUCH for that! That looks like something I could work with. I'm doing a little happy dance! :D
  24. You've given me some direction, which I had NONE earlier. Now I at least have somewhere to start looking. :thumbup1: If anyone else knows of anything, please feel free to chime in!
