  1. Amazon Rainbow Resource Sometimes from the publisher-especially at a convention or if they have a sale.
  2. I choose curriculum with my kids in mind. But I still make the call. I add in review when I think it's needed. It's not really up for debate. But when they hate my choice....wow. It's tough. With RS can you move through the lessons more quickly? And totally skip the song. My kids don't like it either. I'm sorry they are not enjoying it so far. Can you try to give it more time? Some of the RS lessons seem silly but they are teaching concepts that will be built on in later lessons. I've also had to accept that my oldest will complain about anything that isn't her idea. So that means she complains about all of school. Sigh. It's so tiresome for me. I like RS too and I'm excited about it. It's frustrating to be met with groans when I'm doing my absolute best to make it engaging. Basically I have no real advice, just commiseration.
  3. I have. One day I spent four hours searching for a book that the library said was not yet returned. Then the library called the next day to say they found it on their shelf. I did actually return it. But that was it for me. I was sick of hunting down books and having to drive over there to return books on time. My oldest who is an avid reader has a Kindle and we might check out e-books but that's it.
  4. I was just going to share about a giveaway for Jim Weiss stuff but another poster said it was against forum rules. So.....nevermind.
  5. I thought Christian Light Education was this way. But I think their program combines spelling, grammar, and handwriting. Isn't Hake Grammar spiral too?
  6. I have no idea. I would call and ask. I'm doing two small TX conventions for them. They sometimes use local moms at conventions so hopefully they can branch out and be in more areas. This is my first year helping them though.
  7. 10% off orders of $100 or more and free shipping. I'm working a convention for them this month and that's the info they gave me.
  8. Totally agree with this. My kids have food allergies and our church often plans snacks that can include them. It's so gracious and kind. And it teaches other kids in the church to have compassion on those who are different while seeking to include them. If it's possible, I say try to include everyone.
  9. My dd just started this book! Lol
  10. I buy a cheapie prep workbook and go through it with them. It helped my kids know what to expect. I approached it in a casual way and we ate jelly beans while we work on it. So I found it helpful.
  11. My dd is in 3rd and is a strong reader. I just pick chapter books for her. She reads some to me and the rest to herself. She reads a lot to herself... I get ideas from various homeschool publishers like Sonlight, Memoria Press, Veritas Press, and Heart of Dakota. I focus on spelling with my dd which will also give her the skills to decode longer, more complex words.
  12. I use AAR and don't use tiles. We use a whiteboard. Easy and simple with no distractions. If you like the program and it's working for you then I would just drop the tiles and use a whiteboard or even paper to write the words.
  13. I'm listening in! I'm thinking about using it not next year but the year after for my dd who will be in 5th by then.
  14. I'm making a shopping list and we fly up next week to look at houses. It's a little overwhelming! Yikes!
  15. Update: So I called back the emergency clinic that prescribed the wheelchair and asked for a sticker. They said they could not issue one and that it had to come from our primary orthopedic doctor. But they did call his office and request one on my behalf. Two hours later a different lady called from their office and said they would sign the paperwork. I now have my handicap sticker and we've been out of the house a few times with our wheelchair. It's hard work to take her places but it's been so good for her to get out of the house a little. She's also in less pain and feeling much better overall. We go back to the dr this Friday for x-rays to check the healing. I'm hoping she can have a new shorter cast soon so she can bend her knee.
  16. You might get more responses if you ask in the chat board. I don't like hot dogs so I can't help....
  17. Real Science 4 Kids astronomy? The middle school level
  18. Whatever you want! The curriculum has no list. I choose a mixture of picture books, easy chapters, and longer chapters and read aloud every day. My kids love our read aloud time and I just choose a variety of books that sound interesting. And most everything I read is above their reading levels.
  19. Has anyone used this program - The Write Foundation? I had never heard of it before. I'm just exploring all my options for teaching writing and ran across this website. Can anyone point me to reviews or share personal experiences? Thanks!
  20. NL 5 is being written. Not sure of the release date.
  21. Someone will have to post a review once they read it!
  22. This is what I use currently. Love it. Easy to use, no planning, very hands on, and my kids retain the info well. I've blogged about it quite a bit. If you want to read about what it looks like in our homeschool I can link up later.
  23. Does the website have samples? I couldn't find any when I was looking on my phone.
