  1. Do y'alls kids not bicker with each other? My kids are good on their own.....but gosh, if they are together, they will find SOMETHING to bicker about. Whether it be a book, who's touching who, or who gets to look at the book first. :D
  2. Oh gosh, that is awesome! Especailly the cemetary part LOL! I don't think it will work for us on this trip since we'll be on the interstate pretty much the entire way. And my 3 year old cannot see out of the window...her car seat is too low. I may have to play it with DH sometime though!
  3. Yep! In fact, DH just did it last weekend. We frequent Texas Roadhouse and they were offering a free $5 gift card with every $20 gift card purchase. We bought several! We figure that we will definitely use them, so it's free money.
  4. I can't read to them in be car....I get carsick too. I always drive. If I cant read, look at a laptop, or sleep....then I may as well drive lol. Maybe that's why I dislike road trips. I cant do anything to pass the the time. I like the cookie sheet and magnets idea....I'll have to check around for a cheap one.
  5. Hmmm....we have a Leapster. My 6 year old has never really cared for it. Ibe never shown it to my 3 year old. I'll definitely have to bring it.
  6. We are going on an 8 hour trip to Alabama in a few weeks. I know thats not extraordinarily long, but still, I really dislike road trips and would like some ideas. I'd like to have a secret stash that I can pull out of when needed. My girls are 6 and 3 years old. I just bought some wooden Christmas ornaments for the kids to color with markers. I also picked up some blank whit snowmen for them to decorate. We have a DVD player in our van, so of course we will bring some movies. I have a travel bingo game but that will only be good for my 6 year old since the 3 year old is not tall enough to see out the window. Any other cheap ideas that I can bring with us? I'm willing to spend a bit of money, but not a ton. But I want a stress free 16 hours lol.
  7. We live in North Florida too and would love to do the same thing. I'll be watching this thread closely! We wouldn't be able to do it in December, but maybe January.
  8. Definitely colored lights....never just white. White looks too elegant to me. We're definitely not elegant LOL.
  9. My kids are only 6 and 3 years old, but each time we go to the dentist she exclaims "They have great bites! Looks like you'll be able to save big bucks by not needing to get them braces in the future!"
  10. We never take long breaks, just because there are days during the school year where we just do not get around to doing any school work. So we make up for it when "regular schools" take their week and two week breaks. Last year we did "Christmas School" the week before Christmas. We learned about Christmas related things (reindeer, St Nick, snow, etc). We did Christmas crafts, made reindeer "food", baked some things, did some Christmas math (just christmas themed addition problems), etc.
  11. I don't do a big breakfast....I just don't have time in the mornings. My kids usually one or two things from the following list: whole wheat bagel with organic cream cheese sausage links graham crackers with peanut butter or Nutella half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread banana grapes yogurt organic fruit/yogurt bar organic granola bar organic chocolate milk all natural orange juice
  12. Love it! I think I'll borrow it and put it on my Facebook page.
  13. Fringe is awesome. We've watched from the beginning and I just got my dad the first season for Christmas.
  14. Yikes....I'd be a little concerned. I'd go ahead and give him the bath and see what happens. I'd also offer him something he would want to see if you can rouse him. A piece of candy? Play a game with you? A TV show he likes to watch?
  15. Oh, and the Disney store online (www.disneyshopping.com) is having some good deals....plus free shipping on all orders!
  16. Aeropostale online was having 50-70% off of everything on their site last night (and I think today too). DH is in desperate need of some new t-shirts so I snagged him about 5 shirts for $7-9 each. I also got me a hoodie and a few shirts too. I'm currently watching Amazon for some of their lighting deals.

  18. Unwrapped. This is how my parents did it with us when we were kids, and it's how we do it with our children as well. He leave the unwrapped gifts in front of the fireplace.
  19. DD6 is having reading troubles and not reading well yet....but I can't wait to be able to buy her books for Christmas! Right now I only purchase a few books for Christmas, but they are ones with lots of pictures for her to look at. She loves the Marley books so I got her a few of those.
  20. We are traveling to Alabama a few days before Christmas to be with DH's side of the family. They have an annual gift exchange....the kind where you put all the gifts in the center, someone picks, the next person can choose a new gift or steal the prior gift, etc. I like bringing the best gifts LOL. So I need two gifts that are about $20 each. It would be great to find them on Amazon since I have Prime. They need to be fairly gender neutral since we won't know what's in them when we pick them up at the gift exchange. I consider home decor to be gender neutral since the man lives in a house too. So what would you bring given this scenario? I want it to be good and something that people really wouldn't think to pick up and bring. Any suggestions?
  21. I think he will enjoy it. This movie isn't quite as "princessy" as the others. There's lots of action and Rapunzel is not the typical girlie girl...she's tough!
  22. Awww, what a sweet idea!! My parents have been married for 33 years....I'll have to keep this in mind for the future! Love the photo suggestions....as well as the songs. I'd do 50 great love songs. How about having M&M's specially printed with 50 on them? You can do that on the M&M website. I like that someone mentioned having 50 people write something special about them. And the 50 minute massages. 50 one dollar scratch off tickets....maybe they would hit it big! If you could get someone to string 50 hearts hanging from a tree in their front yard so they could look out one morning and see it, that would be neat. 50 flowers delivered to them. Weekend getaway that's 50 miles from home in any direction. Give them a night's stay there or something.
