  1. According to everything Dh and I have read you can send only the exams you want to send to Universities. Exam name and date taken for SAT Subject exams so you can be a bit brave with these.
  2. Kareni, Have a lovely time on your vacation!
  3. Thanks, we do have the big book of SAT subject exams which is how she decided to register for the German. She was closer to her needed admission score then expected but lots of room for improvement. A guide would be handy. We have the REA one for Latin which is wonderful or at least appears to be. She can't start her review until May nday for this batch of exams. There is also one free one online which we are saving until near the end.
  4. No scores here. :( Glad other's scores are showing up....I know they are still grading.
  5. We have been considering doing the same thing. I have looked at the same materials and all I can say is my conclusions are the same. Interested in real life experiences also.
  6. Dd is going to take the German SAT subject exam in June without listening. There are no real study guides for this exam other than a very old REA one on the used market for over a hundred dollars. I have been locating old gcse, A levels, and any other exams for her to practice on. I just ran into Schmoop guides, which I have no experience or knowledge of. Basically 24 dollars will provide her with a review guide and practice exams online for the German Subject exam. Is it worthwhile? Since I can't see it without buying it I am curious how good they really are. I realize I have nothing better but still hesitating..... Has anyone bought one of these for any of the subject exams? How did they compare to other study guides like Barron's. Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas! It really is wonderful having this group as a resource.
  7. Glad it went well for your dd. My dd just returned and is pretty confident she did well on the Calculus AB also.
  8. I still can't get over being brave enough to have a white dress designed for that moment...it was bespoke according to papers so she planned. Doubt that she has pantyhose on, I think she just has great legs because she never appears to wear skin coloured tights.
  9. Dd and Dh left before 5am this morning to get to her test site for AP Calculus. Stormy weather made them move up their departure. My birthday girl seemed pretty confident about it. She finally had a chance to take a practice exam yesterday. We think she did well but aren't positive which she found really frustrating. We discovered Barron's didn't really have a scale in the book for how many points for each grade. Hopefully the one I found online is reasonably accurate.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion but no scores for us. :( I am curious if it will work for anyone else.
  11. Angel, Happy Birthday and enjoy Harry Potter!!!!! You share a birthday with my dd. Right now she would much rather be going to Harry Potter Studio's than taking a Calculus AP on her birthday! She has been wide awake since 7:30 and is busy being studious-- today is a bank holiday here and it is lovely out. This looks really interesting. I plan to go looking for it after I get done posting. I finished Rock Addiction this morning. All the time I was reading it on my kindle I kept thinking about Robin's husband and the cover. I was glad to be reading it on my kindle.
  12. I loved the Wheel on the school when we read it aloud. Wonderful book. I hope all of your family recovers from their various ailments soon. At our house patient zero always receives a great deal of teasing because their germs always seem to get the rest of us in the end no matter how much disinfecting of door handles and light switches I do! I can't even imagine it with eight kids.
  13. Jane :grouphug: I am so sorry. I don't honestly think for me at least, it is possible to really expect someone to die even when we have been told. Somehow in our world filled with wonder drugs and last minute medical miracles we forget reality....at least I do. It is always a shock even when it shouldn't be. Watching my children grieving is heartbreaking. :grouphug: to your boy. Stacia :grouphug: Another day where I didn't manage to finish my book. Where does the time go lately? I did download a new to me (I think ;) ) Ruth Rendell, The Rottweiler. I will find an appropriate link after I read it!
  14. I just wanted to thank everyone for helping me figure out how I want to go about this. I think she is starting chemo late this week so I need to be able to work quickly. News matter what I do I won't make this week but late next week has potential with this pattern for me....depending on length. I finally decided to adjust a pattern I have made several times from the Mason Dixon knitting book....can't find my book so am quessing on stitch numbers but should be fine. The pattern is the Nina Shawlhttp://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nina-shawl. Can be adjusted to incorporate the three pattern easily and most importantly I think my friend will enjoy the colours.
  15. Noseinabook, you are so amazing. Definitely a great excuse for not reading! Stacia, thanks for the link. I think I may go hunting for a Ruth Rendell.....seems appropriate. I have read several over the years.
  16. Roughly what size are the ones you are making? I might create my own. I am on Ravelry but not great at searching. I signed up because of the long knitting thread on WTM last fall.
  17. I read Night Prince about a year ago and enjoyed it. I decided to wait to read the rest of that series after I finish the Cats and Bones series. Not sure why I haven't finished them, the time never seems right when the hold arrives. Someday...... I finished the latest Jonathan Kellerman, Motive, which is part of his Alex Deleware series. It was absolutely fine but missing something...the who did it part was not quite right for one thing. I can't say more without a spoiler. For a long time reader it was fine but I can't imagine that book inspiring me to read others. I started the Rock Addiction book that others have been reading. I am sure I will finish it soon! ;)
  18. Dd is doing the languages without listening. French and Spanish are offered frequently, I think. She did French this morning. Latin and German (without listening) are twice a year. I don't think the schedule is out. Both kids need 3 SAT or AP exams with high scores for University admission. She missed the AP exams other than Calculus which she is fortunate to be taking....special order of exam. Dd is hoping to accumulate a nice assortment of SAT subject exams (more than needed but we think she might need them for program admission later) before December and wants to get her foreign languages out of the way. I don't think the 2015/2016 schedule is out yet. Several are not available everytime like physics. We are trying to plan so both kids can take on the same dates and get this done before bad weather....test location is 2 hours away.
  19. Your pattern looks lovely. I am not a happy crocheter (not sure that is a word) so need to knit. I am planning on a lighter weight yarn for tha sake of my hands....I haven't been knitting much lately. I think I will pull out my blanket patterns and see what I have that might work. Bank holiday weekend here so shops are closed until Tuesday. I would love to get started and have an overflowing stash. I had some fluffy dk once upon a time. Ideas are still very welcome so please post. I will admit a small part of me is wondering about quilting one now that rectangular is a possibility.
  20. A few years ago a close friend was diagnosed with cancer and I made her thishttp://www.debbiemacomber.com/knitters-club/free-patterns/alix%E2%80%99s-prayer-shawlPrayer Shawl when she started her chemo. It brought both of us great comfort. At that time I did some research that led me to believe that they were supposed to be triangular to represent the Trinity. I am once again trying to support a close friend and thinking that a Prayer Shawl might be a good start. When I looked at ravelry many prayer shawls seem to be rectangular which would be easier because my kids will recognize the pattern and the implications. Right now not telling anyone about her illness. She is Christian....do I do a triangle or not??? Anyone have a favorite pattern?
  21. Can you order another copy of his birth certificate in time to get State ID? Both think the exams went well. They got a room and proctor all to themselves because everyone else was doing the main SAT exam which surprised me. The cut off for sign up on the June subject exams is May 8 so there is still time! ;) We still need to decide if ds is going to take one or not. He would rather not but that leaves him with a couple of heavy test days in the fall especially if his math ones didn't go as well as he thinks today. Two is realistically his limit because he tires quickly. Also need to decide if dd is going to do all three. She wants to do both Latin and German in one go because they are not offered again until late fall. Would like a high score off Latin with respectable on German. She did three fine today but not multiple languages....These tests exhaust me and I am not the one taking them!
  22. Just dropped them off for Subject exams. Both are somewhat conjested, could be cold or allergies. So fingers crossed. Dd hasn't prepped for he AP calc beyond a review (she took the class over a year ago) so starts doing that seriously later this afternoon. She is planning three more subject exams in June, two of which need major work to be ready for.
  23. Agree, 32 is a great score. Would probably not test if it isn't required for the department. Might have her try one of the SAT math subject exams if want to prove skills separately. That way you keep the good composite.
  24. Same here....even our local one is interesting this time. Friend invoved. Glad to hear she is in labour, there was some concern about a delivery on the day of the polls.....
