I wanted to get some feedback on Sonlight's Literature Do you think this is enough for a highschooler? I have my dc read all the books suggested and have them answer the comprehension questions. If you use what is suggested in Sonlight's-- do you add or do anything different? If you don't use Sonlight's lit...what do you use?

I called Sonlight last year, they were telling me that I could take 2yrs to do Sonlight 120. So we have already done half of the course this year and will finish next year. This works out great for us, because I want to do a geography course as well. The reason I ask about time for each subject, we will be out of the house each day next year and that really throws things off for us. We will be homeschooling early mornings and late afternoons and car schooling mid morning and early afternoons. This is really bothering me because ds will have a lot on him next year and I am not sure how this is going to work.

Ds will be using Saxon Alg II Apologia Biology English I--R&S 8, Lit, Voc, Writing Sonlight 100--1 semester (?) Around the world in 180 days--1 semester (?) Keyboarding German--Rosetta Stone Bible

I am wanting to start a science lab class for my kids--the kids will get together once a week or every two weeks to do a lab. Thing is I am not a science person..so I am not going to be able to teach them. This will be for them to discuss what they have learned with someone else. I was thinking about asking $30 for the year, plus the cost of the science kit...around another $30. The first $30 would go towards another microscope and slides. Would you be offended to pay this and allow someone else to keep the microscope? I have no idea how this is going to work. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I saw on the website that they recommend a few textbooks and other books of interest. Did you purchase these books? If so do did you need to purchase them all? If you did not what do you use? How long does it take your dc to do the work? I am planning on using this with ds who will be in the 9th grade. I am also planning on him continuing his Sonlight 100 studies. Will this be to much?

I just soldmy Sonlight science set. IG, all the books, and the science kit(a few missing items--but I listed what was missing) Buyer just got the package today and e-mailed me, telling me that it was not what I had told her. She had asked me what edition it was and I looked on the inside of the IG and it stated 1997-2008. I looked at this last year before I purchased it and it was what was being sold. My dd used it this year for 6th grade. So I told her it was the edition that was being sold last year...obviously(so I thought) not the newer edition. She says that she did not want to purchase a 13yr old edition...which it is not. She wants me to refund her $30 so she can purchase the new IG. I refused and told her to send me back everything and I would refund her money. What would you do? I think she misunderstood what I meant by last years edition.

I am looking for the best and cheapest place to purchase Apologia General and Biology science kits and dissecting kits.

He has been humping for a few days around her. We would say something to him and he would walk away. Well this morning I noticed him and her outside and when I said something they were SORRY--joined. That is what I am concerned about...do I need to worry about it??? My MIL said he was fixed..she had to take him back to have his stitches removed. We(MIL and I) thought since he was fixed this would not happen....the humping yes but him actually...you know

trying to mate with a female. Our dog is in heat and my MIL is here with her male dog that was fixed last year. Well they were at it and were together--sorry I didn't think fixed males would be interested in a female..am I wrong? Do I need to be concerned?

Did you find something online to go by? Did you have your child read certain books and discuss them afterwards? So far am requiring CPR class and First Aid. We are also going on a CDC field trip in a few weeks..which will cover VD.

You can ask for them to place a hold on the books from a closer library. I know when I place a hold, I have to see if the book is local or South Ga. If it is South Ga, then it could take up to a month to get it. I use the Pines system a great deal and the librarian here works with us and lets us check the books out for 30 days since we homeschool. I am going to miss them if we have to move!

that is exactly what I am finding out as well. It is very discouraging!! My kids are active in some groups around here and to move were there is NOTHING..is going to be devastating! I was reading on one of the cities website that kids hang out at Wal-mart on the weekends because there is nothing else to do! :eek: I did contact one person and they said that there is a large group in Statesboro, but that is till going to be an hour or so drive for us. If my kids make friends, no one is going to want them to visit us or we are not going to feel comfortable with our kids an hour or so away!

in this area. My kids are active where we are now and I know this is in the boonies. Dc are actually starting a new activity next week...which they have been looking forward to since Oct. I hate to tell them that it is a big chance that we will be moving soon and they will not be able to finish this program and there may not be ANYTHING where we might be moving to! My kids are not little anymore and they look forward to meeting others and being involved!

almost 4 1/2 hrs from Vidalia. I am hoping to find if there are any active homeschool groups in and around the area for middle and highschool kids. I really am hoping there are!!!
