  1. I found this one, but it would not load for me and still wont load. I have found a few homeschool groups, but most are inactive. I am planning on calling a couple this morning that I found. I don't mind moving, but I am very discouraged in what I am finding for the kids. I have found a lady, who homeschools, that lives near Savannah...which isn't TO far. If we can live in between dh's job and Savannah I think it would work for us to continue homeschooling.
  2. The move would mean more money and this would be the highest dh could move up in the company, unless he goes to school--right now he doesn't have time to do anything! Will he be happy..YES. Will he have time with the family--not sure. Is the job secure---don't know for sure...we don't know if his job now is secure. We just know that dh is VERY unhappy at the job he is at now. The kids--I know as long as they could find others in the community then they would do fine. BUT, I have found that if others don't homeschool, they tend not to want to be friends with homescholers--especially in a small town. My niece has problems finding and keeping friends where she lives....she is very lonely. We have been very active with our kids. Finding things to do in our area now is pretty easy and there are a lot of homeschoolers around us. Dh and I grew up in a small town. Dh went to public school and I went to a small private school--I never had friends outside of school--due to the distance that everyone lived. We both know how it is growing up in a small town. It may not sound like a small town to some, but for me when I can not find one person to communicate with in the town that homeschool it makes the town even smaller. I love homeschooling my children..yes it is still possible for my kids to be homeschooled, but I feel that they are in an importanat time in their life that they need friends and activities to do...especially when they are use to having those things. Pulling them from something that they dearly love and putting them in a place that they will have nothing to do, but play in the woods or chat online with old friends--who will be reminding them of things they had---is heartbreaking for me! If they were a lot younger, I would have absolutely no problem moving. I know we would be fine...mom and dad would be enough to please them and make them happy, but now that they are in their teens/tweens they need friends--I know we still make them happy, but it is not the same. I have been up half the night looking and searching for something there that even mentions homeschooling. I have found groups..but when I e-mail them their e-mails bounce back! Our house needs to be sold. We have worked to hard to get what we have and have it ruined. Dh says we could rent the house...I don't know if I want to deal with the insecurity of not knowing if the person living here is taking care of it or will pay the rent every month! I plan on calling a few places today to see if they have any idea of local homeschoolers and I pray that I find something! Sorry for crying on everyones shoulder!!!
  3. Dh has a great job opportunity in a town that is very, very small. There is nothing there! The most exciting thing to do is hang out at Wal-mart and/or McDonalds. It is a hour and a half from any major cities. I have a horrible feeling that I will not be homeschooling if dh takes the job, due to no other homeschoolers in the area. My kids are at the age that they NEED friends and things to do..they are 14 and 12yrs old. We are pretty active where we live now, so I feel that if we pull them from here and take them to where there is nothing, we will make a huge mistake. The only thing I can think of is to put dc in private school and me try to find a job to help pay for the school. Which means I will not be home during the summer months with dc. The other issue is that we will have to sell our house within 6months or we will have 2 house payments! So the extra money that dh will be making will go to paying for 2 homes. I feel horrible that dh wants this job and I am saying no. My reasons may not be big issues for some, but I do worry about those things. What would you do????
  4. Can you print shipping labels through paypal if the buyer did not pay using paypal? If so please tell me how. THankS
  5. We started Saxon 76 and Alg 1 in January. My dc are starting lesson 85 today. Dc are doing 1 lesson M, T, & Th and 2 lessons W & F. If we do this then they will finish the book the 2nd week of July. Here is my question..I have heard that most of what is taught in the last part of the text is normally covered again in the beginning of the next text. Is this good to do or should we just finish the text and have a couple of weeks off before starting the next text? If it is ok to do this..where should we stop?
  6. I need advice on what to get ds for his acne. He has eczema so his skin can become very, very dry. We have tried to use the honey, but he doesn't like sitting for 15mins, so he doesn't use it.
  7. I have been thinking about waiting until the summer to do a few of the classes--Health and keyboarding I don't want to add anything else this summer, because we are covering math--we changed curriculums in January so they are behind now. Kayaking is a big thing for both of them. If I would sign them up for the league they would do it in a heart beat, but I won't---5 days a week and you have to be there at 7am-10am. I can't change the math tutor time---she is an individual that is doing it at no charge--so I have to do it when she wants to.
  8. Yes all of the outside activities, except band is done at the same time for both dc. Band my dd is 1hr later than ds. We do our best to get math and grammar done before we leave the house. This seems to have worked this year, but we only were out 3 days a wk..not 5.
  9. We are going to have a FULL year next year..at home and outside the house. I am trying to figure out how I am going to go about scheduling dc's day. Here is what we have going on next year 7th grade: AT HOME Saxon 87 Apologia General R&S 7 Sonlight 7 w/Bible Wordly Wise Rosetta Stone French I OUTSIDE EVENTS: Monday's Band Tuesday Baseball--8wks fall/spring Wednesday Kayaking 6wks fall/spring and Church Thursday Co-op---Creative writing, Sculpting and Oil painting Friday Kayaking 6wks fall/spring 9th grade: AT HOME: Saxon Alg II Apologia Biology Sonlight 100(1st semester) finishing last 19wks Around the World in 180 days and Mapping the world with Art(2nd semester) R&S Grammar 8 Wordly Wise Rosetta Stone Greek I Online Writing Class Health Bible--not using Sonlight Keyboarding..maybe 15 mins a day?? OUTSIDE: Monday: Band and Math tutor Tuesday: Baseball 8wks fall/spring Wednesday: Kayak 6wks fall/spring Thursday: Co-op--Speech, Debate, Preforming Lit(?) and Lab Class Friday: Kayak 6wks fall/spring Is this even possible??? The only thing I think I can give up is baseball...BUT I am the one that has started putting this together!:001_unsure: I didn't think this out before I started this!!!! By the way all of the outside events will go on during normal school hours
  10. Ds-14 told me the other day that he did his work faster in his room..since there were no distractions---his sister, she has a tendency to argue with me about her work, which distracts ds. SO I am going to allow him to work in his room..hopefully that will work for him.
  11. :crying:I guess I will wait until next month to see what their coupon will be. Thanks!
  12. I just found out that I could sign up for their promotions. I read that they send out coupons early in the month. I was wondering if I had missed it for this month. What do their coupons consist of--free shipping, % off or just certain products at a discount?? I am placing an order of $50 so I didn't know if it would be worth me waiting on a coupon code. Thanks!
  13. I am sure you didn't mean anything bad, but my dd is 12..so no STD's here!
  14. I think my dd has a yeast infection. Can I use an over the counter med or do I need to take her in? I have never had one, so I am not sure what to do. If OTC is suggested please let me know what brand to use...dd is 12. What exactly do I need to look for? Any advice????
  15. I would LOVE feedback if you use or have used this service. Thanks!
  16. I am so sorry to hear about your experience! I told dh last night that I am nervous about taking her on Thursday. I am definitely going to talk to the vet and let them know about my concerns. I will ask them about letting me bring her bed. AWW thats so sweet!!! My dh tells me that she has started howling when I am gone. I told him to video her, so I could see it.
  17. I know this is going to sound silly!!! If you have a Chihuahua, do you worry about leaving them at the vet? I am worried about leaving my baby at the vet this week to be fixed. I know she will be in good hands. I worry about her stressing herself out. I went out of town last week and left her with dh and dc. She was so upset and has not let me out of her sight since! If I walk out the door she runs out trying to go with me. Should I let my vet know about my concerns?
  18. I am needing to lose 25-30 pounds. I am a lacto-vegeterian. I like bread, pasta and rice, which I know is a BIG issue. I am trying to figure out how to plan a menu for myself. Do you drink any types of teas to help boost your metabolism...is there such a thing? I heard that green tea is suppose to help--is this true?
  19. I know you said you are only on lesson 3, but how do you and your kids like it? I was planning on using it along with 'Around the World in 180 Days' Thanks!
