  1. I too find LLTL level one very light. I don't think it is too hard for Grade 1 at all. I am adding more Grammar for my Grade 1 with Grammarland.
  2. I purchased the 10 book set with this code last night. I thought some of you might be interested as well, since they rarely seem to go on sale. You don't have to order all ten, they give you an option from one and up. This blog is a cool one to watch for deals, I get lots of stuff free from it: http://www.freehomeschooldeals.com/homeschool-deals-life-fred-elementary-math-sale/
  3. If you look at the link address you shared the book is linked from this site: http://carlasabandar.files.wordpress.com/
  4. The website is a weird looking blog, it doesn't look legit at all sadly.
  5. Filler paper is cheap on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Avery-Filler-Inches-Sheets-14230/dp/B004K6LHBQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392689535&sr=8-2&keywords=8+1%2F2+by+6+1%2F2+paper It is cheaper to print your forms on full size paper and then have Staples or Kinkos cut it in half for you and punch it with a small punch but if you are OCD like me you might not like it. I find they can never get my paper cut perfectly down the center so I end up with paper that is different sizes. It drives me batty. :)
  6. I found an old post where someone said that Dr. Schmidt recommended doing one a month and cycling through them 4 times. Has anyone done it this way? Here is the post: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/354707-i-finally-got-some-life-of-fred-elementary-books/?p=3727233
  7. You would have to look at the original version and then MFW samples and decide which you like better. The description on MFW says some pictures are in color. I looked through the original and could not find the Snowy Owl picture. It seems the lessons are different.
  8. Blogger Cynthia Albright also redid and updated PLL. I wasn't fond of some of the literary additions so decided against it but it looks nice too. http://www.primarylanguagelessons.com/
  9. Well here is a dowload of the original PLL: http://books.google.com/books/about/Primary_Language_Lessons.html?id=JfAsAQAAMAAJ. I have it on my iPad. I love that Living books has lines for answering the questions and price. You can see a sample on their website here: http://www.livingbookscurriculum.com/catalog/product/b9549034aa34494daa4604fb263411e0 . The MFW one was really intriguing to me too but the $8.40 price for the full version of this compared to the almost $40 for the two parts of the MFW version is what made me make choose Living Books.
  10. Living Books Curriculum also updated PLL some and has both parts for $8.20. It is a lot cheaper then MFW. I ended up going this direction because of the huge price difference.
  11. Well had a bit of a frustrating ordering experience, but I am sure they'll make it right. I bought the Primary Language Lessons and the Astronomy Curriculum but only got a download link for the first. Perhaps ordering things separately is best? ETA: They responded to my email very quickly and sent me the missing download link. I'm very impressed!
  12. Someone mention that MUS classical has VHS lessons that you can buy super cheap. I am curious if the lessons are the same as what is on the newer curriculum DVD's? I know the order is different, etc. but am curious if the recordings are the same. Thanks. :)
  13. I am thinking of buying LOF for my daughters for next year. Which books do I need for Grades 2-3? I looked on the website and they list Grade 2 for almost all of the elementary books but I have a hard time believing we could work through all 10 in a year. Am I wrong? Thanks for your help!
  14. I think I am going to get Primary Language Lessons. I like that it has printable worksheets unlike the free scanned version that is on google. http://www.livingbookscurriculum.com/catalog/product/b9549034aa34494daa4604fb263411e0
  15. Really? I attended a Canadian high school and we were definitely taught evolution. ETA: It is so wonderful to see a thread with different points of view that stays nice. Thanks!
  16. Do you have any friends or family in Columbus, Ohio or Dayton, Ohio? I frequent both areas. I'd be interested in buying them from you if so. ;) Book consignment places such as Half Price books can be ok for selling books/curriculum to. Many used book stores give store credit for books.
  17. I don't answer the door if I don't know the person. I had a neighbor clear our walkway and then knock. I did not answer.
  18. http://www.litwitsworkshops.com/store/products/the-hobbit/ These ideas are free from their site: http://www.litwitsworkshops.com/free-resources/the-hobbit/
  19. It looks like a cool collection but I am afraid to try it. I have collected many of their free radio shows and often they are very poor quality. Thank you Stripe, I look forward to listening to the ones you listed. I think most of their stuff is in the free domain, I just wish I knew how to find it.
  20. The free ebook version on Gutenberg has the Denslow artwork in it. I downloaded it yesterday to see.
  21. I found all sorts of fun free activities on www.teacherspayteachers.com but it is just not coming together today. Sunday schooling seems to be a bust here. I'm curious if anyone else is doing Groundhog Day a day late?
  22. This has worked wonderfully on other groups I am part of.
  23. A great suspense drama is "Time Between Wolf and Dog". I LOVE it!! Lee Joon-Gi is a phenomenal actor!! It is not appropriate for young kids though. I also loved Il Ji-Mae, Rooftop Prince, Secret Garden, Goong/Palace. The King 2 Hearts was good too. I liked You're Beautiful a lot but found there was some chemistry missing between the two leads. Full House was so so to me. City Hunter was great but not one I'd want to watch again. I liked My Lovely Sam Soon until the end. Boys over Flowers was OK. It has some hot guys.
