  1. I was SO shocked they joined the sale!! I am stocking up! :) Those of you who have used Knowledge Box Central lapbooks try HOAC, they are MUCH better quality!! I own lapbooks from both and from AJTL and HOAC is definitely the most professional!
  2. How about Expedition Earth from Confessions of a Homeschooler? Her blog is filled with posts on her units, so you can get a good feel before you buy. I believe it is $15 for the download, I am impressed with it.
  3. Currclick is having a Pay What You Want sale. They did this last year and it was a fun way to try stuff you might not usually try. There are some good companies such a Hands of a Child Lapbooks, Knowledge Box Lapbooks and more. I was so excited about this, I thought some of you may be too. :) http://www.currclick.com/cclick_independence.php?&filters=0_0_0_0_0_0_30625
  4. I never had a good feeling about SL, just felt I wasn't suppose to use it. What does your heart say though? That is what is important. TOG is literature based and Christian. I am curious why you are opposed to MFW? Faith is interwoven throughout it. They use a lot of literature and have an extensive book basket. If you like unit studies you may want to look at Amanda Bennett Unit Studies. Her curriculum is very Christ based. She includes a huge suggested book list for each study.
  5. I'm using Guest Hollow as a supplement to Apologia this year. She has two options. One is a semester one using Ellen McHenry and the other is using Botany for Dummies as the main spine. The books suggestions are phenomenal! I have slowly collected most of them. http://www.guesthollow.com/homeschool/science/botany/botany_curriculum.html
  6. FUFI can be found really cheaply if you keep an eye on eBay and Amazon. Camelcamelcamel is great for setting a price you want to watch for on Amazon. I got my copy for $9.97 last year on there.
  7. She mentioned that she is going to have a sale in August. I plan on purchasing then. She has an internet option, so you don't have to have extra books. Have you looked at her samples? If you have Facebook I would write on her Harmony Fine Arts page and ask her where she things you should begin. I had questions about my soon to be 2nd and 3rd grader and she answered quickly. I personally wouldn't begin at Gr. 1, it would be way too easy. I would either start at Gr.4 and beef it up for the 7th grader or get Gr.7 and simplify it a bit for the 4th grader.
  8. Well www.homeschoolbuyercoop.com normally sells them and is sharing the deal on their site. They have seemed to have a close relationship with Discovery for some time, so I would guess it is legit. Here is their link in case it is different: https://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/discovery-education-streaming-plus-free-trial/?c=1
  9. They are amazing. They have artist studies, book suggestions, notebooking pages, hands on activities, composer and poetry suggestions and a Bible study. I slowly bought/won the entire series. Here is an online review with some go along printables: from one of my favorite bloggers: http://www.walkingbytheway.com/blog/spectacular-spiders/
  10. I have an old copy of Winterpromise's American Story 1. They recommend the 500 Nations DVD documentary. I am curious if anyone has watched it and what age they recommend it for? Winterpromise's forum has been down for a while now, so I thought I'd check here as I know quite a people have used or are using them. Thanks in advance. :)
  11. I thought the free selections from AudioBooksSync looked great this week. They are The Hiding Place and Code Name Verity. Thought some of you might be interested. http://www.audiobooksync.com/free-sync-downloads/
  12. I saw this posted on Facebook and thought it might interest some of you as well: http://moneysavingmom.com/2014/06/free-audiobook-download-diary-anne-frank-today.html. :)
  13. There is a neat NaturExplorer Unit available on birds: http://shiningdawnbooks.com/available-units/beautiful-birds/ These bird notebooking pages are free: http://www.currclick.com/product/16222/Nature-Study--Birds--Notebooking-Pages?it=1
  14. Here's a free resource for bird studies: http://www.homeschoolcreations.net/2014/04/bird-nature-study-printables/
  15. I don't think $1400 is worth it. I can think of SO many better things I could do with that type of money. Plus the tutors are not really trained, so why the big bucks? It bothers me to be involved in something that is so inaccessible to so many families, but that is me.
  16. This is free: http://www.ancientfaith.com/podcasts/series/the_chronicles_of_narnia
  17. How did you remove the password? I have the AW notebooking pages that I would love to have password free. To OP, I would love ebooks except I hate the password protection. I think it was such a dumb business move. I really don't think it protects their products in the way they think it does. If someone is dishonest they'll just print extra copies and sell them or share the password and email the product. Acting so distrustful of your customers doesn't sit well with me. I mostly buy digital homescchool products, this is the only company I have encountered with password protected .pdf's.
  18. AS1 has really great reviews. We are using an older version of it this coming year. The book selections are great. I buy only exclusives from Winterpromise and buy books elsewhere to save money. I've read customer service has been better the last couple years. If you search the boards most of the bad reviews are from years ago. I am also a part of their forum. It is quiet but there is lots of great info on the individual programs. They also have a Facebook page. You can see customer comments on there too. Here is a review of AA1 which is a mix of AS1 and AC1 from one of our board members: http://www.thecurriculumchoice.com/2012/03/winter-promise-all-american-1/ She used a lot of Winterpromise items.
  19. My wishlist disappeared and I have no idea how to access it. It is a pain!!
  20. This looks fun and is free. It is available for different levels from young to old kids. http://www.thinkingkidsblog.org/bible-road-trip-books-of-the-law-year-one-index/
  21. Thank you so much for posting! They had a deal on Long Story Short a while back. It is nice to get the other so cheaply as well. :)
  22. Yay, thanks for sharing!! I checked numerous times today and kept getting the unavailable message.
  23. I was so excited to see that Discovering Great Artists by MaryAnn Kohl is a daily Kindle deal for $1.99. I've wanted to get it for some time but it is usual pricey. Thought it might interest some of you as well. :) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005PSL72M/ref=amb_link_416369602_15?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0P5P4B1CXJCSWT3JRVE1&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=1811908982&pf_rd_i=1000677541
