  1. I don't see any difference in my children's retention if they listen to me read a book or if they listen to an audiobook.
  2. If you had read the complaints most people are annoyed that the website shows things as IN STOCK when they are in fact not. People feel taken advantage of and lied to. Then there is the fact that RR wants to charge you to have your other items shipped before your out of stock item. Telling people something is in stock when it is in fact not, is frankly wrong! It is manipulating a sale, IMO. It obviously is a huge problem with this company, you can see that just by reading through this thread, so many people have had the same experience.
  3. Most books count as one credit, even some compilations such as the Ramona series and Henry Huggins series count as one. There is a dramatized Bible that is like 90 hours or something crazy like that long and it counts as one credit :)
  4. Today is the last day of the sale. I bought the first Train Your Dragon book and am wondering if I should buy the rest that are on sale. Have any Christian homeschoolers on here read the whole series? Is there anything controversial or that I should be aware of in the other books? I'm also considering the Incorrigible Children books.
  5. Well, in the end I decided to write and see if I bought the Middle School bundle if it would be possible to get the 4-6th Grade bundle free (since I bought the K-3 before they changed the sale). I realized I was going to spend nearly that much anyways for things in those bundles and by buying them this way I'll get to try a bunch of new things as well. Now I am just nervously waiting for a response on whether they will be willing to do that. ETA: They were awesome and got back to me super fast with a coupon code for the amount off for my free bundle. :) I was super impressed with their customer service!
  6. Audible books can be burned to CD, so can be listened to in anything that plays CDs, they can be listened to on MP3 players, iPads or any computer. My kids listen on our laptop. Sometimes during lunch or while coloring in the living room.
  7. I'm fairly sure it's not legal to keep the mp3 though, it kind of like borrowing a DVD from the library and copying it.
  8. Did you listen to the audio sample? I found the background music too loud for my taste. It made it harder listening.
  9. Aww, a new puppy, how fun!! How does your older dog like the puppy?
  10. Saying things are in stock when they are not is just not acceptable to me. With so many computer programs out there that could keep real time track of their inventory, it just seem wrong to me. Punishing a customer for running a business incompetently doesn't seem right.
  11. Yes, I get overwhelmed by all the noise/chaos as well. I usually have to send the kids upstairs to play for a time so Mommy can wind down.
  12. Erin, it is so great to see you! I miss your blog! Will I get to see you on here now and again? I think what you are doing for your kids is so awesome! I got an email that seemed aimed at people who had already bought two bundles. I didn't because I didn't think the two bundles get 50% off was as good a deal, but you know I'm looking at the make your own bundle and realized most of the things I want from the other bundles are on there. Maybe I'll just go that route rather then make it complicated for the Bundle makers. I am sure they are getting a ton of emails and requests. I am very happy with my K-3 bundle purchase. I am very interested in buying more Ellen McHenry items, the Freewriting book and the Creation science books.
  13. They've changed the sale to buy two pre-made bundles get one free. I am really annoyed because I only bought one in the middle of the night because I didn't think the buy two get one half off was that great of a deal but I probably would have bought two to get one free. I feel a bit taken advantage of. :(
  14. We have been listening to the first audio and it is really fun! The random capitalization sounds annoying, glad we are not reading it aloud!
  15. I noticed that too. I was hoping to get some of the Write Through History books in the Bundle deal but they weren't an option. Then I saw this at the top: "Our "Build Your Own" bundles offer you the opportunity to select a certain number of products with a retail price of $19.99 or less." Write Though History books are worth more then that and so is the 50 States curriculum. Too bad!
  16. We've been discussing it over here: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/522202-build-your-bundle-bundles-see-anything-worthwhile/ :)
  17. I am loving the K-3 Bundle. It has Botany in 8 Lessons, Reading Lessons Through Literature Vol. 1, Math Mammoth items, Raising Rock Stars Kindergarten and a Grapevine bible study, plus much more. I was also really tempted by the Charlotte Mason Bundle, but I own quite a few bits from it already, so the deal wasn't quite worth it for me.
  18. We started Train Your Dragon today and are loving it. They have six other books from the series on sale, I think we'll buy them. We also purchased: The Boxcar Children Book 1 Swallows and Amazons Swallowdale Magic Marks the Spot A Bear Called Paddington The Mouse and the Motorcycle Series Socks Pippi Longstocking Henry Huggins Story's End Storybound
  19. The titles are $3.99 or under and they have a bunch of good ones such as How to Train your Dragon, The Mouse and the Motorcycle series, Amazons and Swallows and many more. I am stocking up. Thought some of you may also be interested: http://www.audible.com/mt/kidssale_ALL?page=1
  20. If you google Apologia Anatomy. You'll find many families that are using/used it with younger children. MeetPenny.com used it with two littles. I saw another blog recently that used it. I am going to use it with my 7 and 8 year old this year. I am using Guest Hollows plans as extras (it looks amazing).
  21. I wrote them yesterday. I think your best bet is joining Gateway to the Classics (which is the same price as the second set of books but you get way more.) They wrote me this in response to a question I had about Gateway to the Classics: "Actually there are now 161 ebooks available for immediate download (all different from the ones in the 225 set), with 100 more (2 every week) released each year of your membership." You get online access for the year to the first set as well but cannot download those.
  22. Thank you so much Hunter for all the information. I am trying to switch to ebook format. We are planning a cross country move into a tiny place. There won't be room for physical books. Do you know if I subscribe to Gateway to the Classics if I will have access to all the new books they have released? Thanks, Kris
  23. I am intrigued by the Baldwin Project's (people who make Yesterday's Classics) Gateway to the Classics. I am curious if anyone uses it? Are only these books included with the program? http://www.yesterdaysclassics.com/o/treasury2.php Would love any thoughts you have on it as a whole. Thanks,
