  1. Ds rushed a fraternity on campus and is being inducted this weekend. He had no interest in one when he started at the school, but he has become friends with so many in one of them and is at half of their events. It is a Christian college, and sponsors are there so I'm not concerned about anything horrible being done. I'm just concerned about it being such a cold weekend. Ds has never been officially diagnosed, but we are fairly sure he has at least a mild form of Raynaud's. He told me that he discussed the condition with several of them, and he was assured they will make accommodations for it. This goes through sometime Saturday, and the coldest will be overnight Friday and Saturday morning (around 11 degrees). He called me last night just to talk because he won't be able to contact anyone while it's going on. I love that he knew I'm going to worry about him and wanted to put my mind at ease!
  2. @HomeAgain, If you ever want to take a walk inside, I really enjoy April and her mom, Aiko, at yes2next on YouTube. They have walking workout videos (and a lot of other things). I like their personalities! My second Zoom session was canceled because the dad's car broke down on the interstate. They had to leave to pick him up. Dh found out the pay cut at the charter night school would hardly affect his rate at all. I guess it is more of a cut for people who have been in the system longer and have the highest advanced degrees.
  3. Good morning! @HomeAgain , that sounds like a great place to go eat. Burgers are probably my favorite food. I got up early to make breakfast and pack lunch for dh. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. I've been having some scalp issues, so I just put coconut oil on my hair for a while before showering. Dh's breakfast and lunch coconut oil on hair and scalp Bible study/devotion shower get ready 3 Zoom sessions 1 in-person student meals tidy house pay bills/update records schoolwork watch something and relax
  4. @TheReader, I'm so glad he is doing better! @ScoutTN, I hope your ds gets in a better head space with being home.
  5. Dh is getting ready to go over to the school. Last night's basketball games were rescheduled to tonight. He got an email that there will be pay cuts next year at his night school job. He makes the hourly rate he gets from the full-time school, so even with a cut, it may be worth the time. I got a call from a lady I met 2 years ago when I spoke at a homeschooling high school meeting. She is forming a co-op in a town about 40 minutes south of here, and they are looking for teachers. So far, she thinks I could teach Chemistry, Algebra 1, and Geometry. They were thinking of meeting on Mondays, but I told her that day was out for me because my online classes meet on Mon/Wed. I would love to do it on a Tuesday, so we'll see if it pans out. I told her I would prefer to have a second day a week on Zoom for the math classes. Teaching a week's worth of math in one day is so difficult!
  6. Good afternoon! I slept too late to get on this morning before my classes started. I had 5 Zoom sessions today. I'm not sure if church is happening tonight or not. We normally get a text reminder about services during our prayer month, but we haven't got one yet.
  7. @TheReader, hoping the surgery goes well! @ScoutTN, the FAFSA was the easiest it has ever been! We slept in this morning since dh doesn't have school. It felt good to stay in the warm bed! It's 20 here with 6 wind chill. We didn't get any snow. Boohoo! Bible/devotion coffee meals 1 Zoom session schoolwork for tomorrow play Agricola (We haven't played it in a long time, so I've been reading over the rules. I might watch a video.) play another game (solo if dh doesn't want to play another one) tidy house/clean kitchen watch something and relax
  8. There is supposed to be freezing rain and maybe a bit of snow overnight with temps getting even colder. School is canceled for tomorrow. I only have 1 or 2 sessions tomorrow online. I was going to have the brother/sister duo after school, so I'll see them next week. The non-tree Christmas decorations are packed away. I will leave my snowman collection out until sometime in March. We have two trees to take down. I have a 6 ft tree in my office, and we have a 9 ft tree in the living room. It has A LOT of ornaments, so it will take a good bit to pack up.
  9. @ScoutTN, I should take down Christmas stuff, too.
  10. @HomeAgain, we LOVE Disney. That sounds like such a fun idea. If we ever get to go back with the kids, I might steal that and do something like it. @math teacher, rice pudding was one of my favorite desserts before I had to go off dairy, and I miss it! I should play around more with making it non-dairy, but most things never seem as good to me. 2 classes down and 2 to go.
  11. I slept in, and my first class has already met. Three more to go today. After my classes, I hope dh and I will play some games since he is off today. bible study/devotion 4 Zoom sessions tidy house meals play games school prep for tomorrow and some for Wednesday watch something and relax
  12. I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner, but I will pray for you, your family, and the extended family!
  13. Dinner was grilled chicken from Costco and a salad kit. I ate a bit of chocolate for dessert. I did some $$ data entry. I'm ready for tomorrow.
  14. Praying for all of you!!!
  15. Congratulations!!! That looked amazing!
  16. I met ds and gave him his stuff. He is rushing a fraternity this week and will have the induction weekend starting Thursday night. This is at a Christian college, so I know it won't be the same as a regular university. I'm most concerned about it being stuff outside because we are fairly sure he has Reynaud's. He told me he already talked to the guys about his problem, and they would make accommodations for him. I gave him a huge pack of hand warmers for Christmas, so surely he can use those. I got groceries on the way home. I just tried some goat cheese brie I was given for Christmas, and it was horrible.
  17. Dh said he and a friend were just talking about that scene a couple of days ago. He said both that show and Better Call Saul have some of the best acting he has ever seen.
  18. Dh and I played Raiders of the North Sea, and he crushed me. Ds is over at dd's gf's house, and I'm going to meet him with some of that winter stuff he left here.
  19. Dd will be the one out driving, and she has a small Nissan Kicks. She's a nurse, so her job doesn't get called off. At least ds will be on campus. He doesn't have classes for the holiday, and classes would probably be canceled for Tuesday if it stays around. The school has a lot of commuters.
  20. I asked dh, and he said Rhea Seehorn has a scene on a tram in Better Call Saul that was truly transcendent. I think I would need to think on it a bit, but the first thing that comes to mind is Liam Neeson at the end of Schindler's List. I haven't watched it in a long time, so I'm not sure if it was the acting or the topic that touched me the most.
  21. I keep watching the weather forecasts for us and for the kids (dd lives in Chattanooga and ds is on campus at Lee, so both in southern TN). They both have predictions of 4 inches of snow tomorrow. They (nor me) are used to driving in weather like that. Dd doesn't work tomorrow, but she planned to be at her gf's house down this way. She does work on Tuesday. Sometimes I wish they were still small and under our roof. I love them being grown in many ways, but I'd be fine with us all under one roof or even a compound of houses together.
  22. Good morning! I woke up at 6:15, but I did sleep all the way through the night and woke rested. I tried to go back to sleep, to no avail, because I didn't have to be up then. I'm having coffee now, and dh and I are debating the driving and attending church situation with me being asked to work in a kid's class this morning. get ready to go out help in Kindergarten class come home if dh goes ahead and attends the early service or stay if he decides to come to later one (the debate) meals schoolwork (my 4 math classes meet online tomorrow) ds will be at dd's gf house for D&D this afternoon, so take some winter stuff he left here (heaviest coat and some hand warmers I bought him) grocery shopping while I'm out doing that get dh to play a game or two watch something and relax
