  1. Line 1, my friend who is Catholic always crosses out the word "only" when signing a SOF for a group we both belong to.
  2. I was thinking about getting with some friends so our kids could write a magazine each month. Take turns being the publisher etc. Do you have any suggestions about how we should do this? Thanks! Diana
  3. I have a question, do you really save on things you use? I have a friend who does the grocery game but in the end she gets alot of stuff she doesn't normally use and that is not quite so healthy for her.
  4. I grew up about 8 miles from Oak Park in Warren another suburb of Detroit. My mother still lives there, a garden in the front yard would be a blessing to anyone in her neighborhood. Most of the neighbors are out of work and retooling trying to start over with another careers. Most of the homes in her neighborhood could only sell today for between $5000 and $8000 dollars. A new roof cost my mom more than the sale price of the neighbor's home. The homes have history, real hardwood floods, basements, wet plaster walls, etc. Warren will fine my mother if her shrubs are too tall, or her lawn is not mowed but unlike Oak Park her neighbor is free to grow his tomato plants in the front yard near the porch. I agree the communities in and around Detroit should not be wasting money on something so trivial. There are much bigger issues that should be addressed.
  5. I have a kitchen add. We use it to make dough, cakes, cookies, pancake batter, whip cream, etc. I have not purchased any of the attachments but they are on my wish list. I love it!
  6. Does anyone use the Amazon subcribe and save feature? I just received my first order this week. My question is can they change the price of the items in the furture without telling me? Thanks! Diana
  7. I would suggest as a Catholic you make the appropriate changes to the statement of faith. Cross out what you don't believe change the words and then you can sign it. Our local homeschool organization has a statement of faith that is not quite this bad but that is what the catholic homeschool support group leader would do to sign the SOF. Good luck! Diana
  8. The first two lines to start with the Catholic Bible has more books.
  9. My kids have blogs but we don't share them publicly because the like to post pictures. We have family and friends all of the the country and they like to share with them. But for saftey's sake we don't publish them. Diana
  10. 1. It depends on your children. Mine like to have their own books. 2. I would suggest UG if not a strong reader. 3. Yes you can do all levels together.
  11. Our umbrella school gives a real dipolma www.homelifeacademy.com. As well as Gateway Christian Schools in Memphis, TN. Diana
  12. My 21yo has read it about 5 times. She loved it. Me, I'm more of a movie girl (don't read the book because it might spoil the movie). :)
  13. Yes, we used it for highschool. Just remember you are not going to get all subject together. Diana
  14. Well, some life lessons my 21 yo dd just learned. 1. Just because you want something doesn't mean you need it or can get it. (DD wants a brand new car but doesn't have the money or credit to get one.) 2. If you have a credit card you must pay it off otherwise they take you to court and make you pay it. 3. You can't eat out every meal. 4. When you buy a used car have a mechanic inspect it for you before you buy it. If you don't you might end up with your bumper zip tied on, your head lights gorilla glued in, etc. (Oops! This happened to DD.) Remember sometimes you can give your children all of the correct guidance but that doesn't mean they will always use it. And every child is different. Diana
  15. We love TT. It is just a lesson each day, tests included. Diana
  16. We have a box of laminating sheets that we use. You don't have to laminate the pages and they still wipe off. Diana
  17. My friend and I have been taking about going away from home to do our planning over a weekend. We have been talking about doing this for about 6 years and have not done it yet. But we did just talk about it last week. BTW, what is HOD? Diana
  18. We have used TOG sucessfully. And we no longer us it. My kids really do like it. I just find myself wanting to do to much. And then it becomes overwhelming. We found it to be more fun when you do it along with friends on the same schedule and can plan a couple of things together each unit. Celebration was more fun with more friends. We were studying the battle at Bunker Hill and reinacted it with squirt guns the the back yard. The kids had a great time! Enjoy it! Diana
  19. I wish Ikea was not a day's drive away from us. I love their stuff and the price is right!
  20. My kids suggested "Garden Fairy Green" from Lowe's. That is the color in our school room. Good luck!

  22. We tend to school year round. We take time off as needed. We have inlaws we help care for and sometimes life just happens. We are currently off this week because DH is off work. We have no set schedule for when we take off we just let life happen. Good luck, Diana
