Pictures Tomorrow-How about these shirts?
cookfamily6 replied to sparrow's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I would put dd in a solid shirt that coordinates with yours :) As for the mosquito bite, I use essential oils on my kids and it works wonders. Usually I use lemon or purification. My son had a unicorn looking one and it took it right down. -
I am just curious if anyone does "extra" stuff on the side to help bring money into the home and homeschools. I have done stuff here and there and recently restarted up an embroidery business from home. But it soon took off (which is a good thing) except I don't ever seem to have enough hours in the day to both homeschool all 4 kids successfully and keep all my orders caught up. So for now I have my business on hold till I can figure out a better solution. I like feeling that I am contributing by at least making enough money to pay for all the "extras". My husband would rather me just stick to homeschooling and the house and not worry about the money part, I just have a hard time feeling like I'm not contributing when I see him working so hard. Sorry I know this is long I just wanted to see what other homeschool families do and if any of the wives do extra stuff for money on the side (if so how do you manage your time?) Thanks :)

Taking a much needed break in summer?
cookfamily6 replied to Walking-Iris's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
This is what we are doing also. We will work on a few things here and there just to make sure they don't have any gaps that need filled before the new year :) -
twins sharing a bed, WWYD?
cookfamily6 replied to Runningmom80's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have identical twin boys who are 5 and they share a full size bed. They like to be together. We have a twin over full bunk bed that my 9 year old boy takes the top and the twins on the bottom bunk. It works well for us :) -

I may be considered over protective but I wouldn't let my children. Things are a different now and I don't trust anyone. May sound paranoid but I say better safe than sorry. -
At what age would you let your dd

No, I think marriage is hard enough with loving the person. I can't imagine living day to day with someone that I didn't love. My husband and I are best friends and completely crazy about each other so I couldn't do something that didn't make me this happy. And no we aren't bank rolling we have for sure had some VERY hard times. JMO

How old were you when you first got married?
cookfamily6 replied to DawnM's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I was engaged at 18 and married at 19. We have been married almost 11 years and I wouldn't change a thing :) -
Cool Looking Lego Sorter
cookfamily6 replied to JumpyTheFrog's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have 4 kiddos and Legos are the favorite toy in the house. I had a big train table with drawers that I decided to paint and make a lego table with. Now the kids know that is where the legos have to stay and I don't have to have hurt feet anymore ;) -
What do your kiddos wear
cookfamily6 replied to pbb119's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Every now and then we will have a PJ day but for the most part we just hang out in regular clothes :) -
I have always waited till the summer too and it just makes it so hard. This year I started much sooner buying curriculum that I need. (we are getting rid of most of what we were using and starting will all new stuff this year though so it is a bit worse) I think as soon as I get this years done I will start putting money back every paycheck so that it doesn't seem like I'm breaking the bank to get the year going ;)

cookfamily6 replied to PeacefulChaos's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I was sold on Apologia for us this year. A friend of mine brought it for me to look at and I really like it :) -
That is what my dh just said too. I guess since he is the one paying and doesn't mind I might as well right lol.

Thank You! I think I will try with 1 and see how it goes. :)

Do you "pack up" at the end of the school year?
cookfamily6 replied to Jeeves's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
We pretty much do the same as the others...I pack up TE and things that won't be used, but I keep all of the living books out. My kids love to read. Of course if something doesn't work for us or if my youngest is done with it, I sell off what I know we will never use again :) -
I am trying to get my order together for our AAS and AAR and was wondering.....I have 4 kids that are going to be using the program. I have heard the tiles are the same for spelling and reading....but do you think I will need 2 boards set up since I will have 4 kids doing it or are they not used enough to warrant buying a 2nd set? Thanks so much :)
