  1. My childhood pet was an Aussie (she lived to the age of 19!) and one of our current dogs is an Aussie/rough collie mix. Both were/are absolute sweethearts and completely devoted to their families. I can't wait to see pics!
  2. The OASIS @ MAAP site offers a lot of information as well as a database of resources by location: http://aspergersyndrome.org/ My son with Asperger Syndrome did not need OT. However, many Aspies do benefit from OT, depending on what their specific needs are. Some Aspies have poor motor planning -- that may be why your friend's dd's OT had her do obstacle courses. Being the parent of a child with Asperger Syndrome can be very isolating. Your friend is blessed to have your caring and support! Just being there for her and for her dd will mean so much to both of them.
  3. I'll be 58 when my youngest graduates high school. I hope to have lots of grandchildren by then! :D
  4. Thanks so much for sharing! I can read the books on my iPad through the iSwifter app! If you don't have iSwifter, I think it's still free (trial version) and if I remember correctly the in-app purchase price was $4.99. It works well with many (most?) flash sites.
  5. Here are the votes from my house: 3 Spiderman 1 Batman 1 Wonder Woman
  6. I saw that! I'm thinking of trying that for our next art project.. :tongue_smilie: Apartment Therapy has a lot of good organizing ideas. Someone has probably posted this before, but I like this idea for spotlighting thematic books or current readalouds: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/inexpensive-forwardfacing-book-135897 and of course there's the always-popular Ikea book ledge: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/diy-book-displayreader-project-105770
  7. Fronm the Apartment Therapy site: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/how-to-hang-your-toilet-paper-correctly-165219 I guess the Hive isn't the only group to discuss this issue. :D
  8. So happy to read that he is doing well today! I think he looks like a Toby! Please continue to keep us posted on his progress. I have a soft spot for border collies and border collie mixes. Our border collie mix is named Baxter, which is the name he came with. I didn't particularly like it at first, but it grew on me and now I can't imagine him with any other name. We shorten it to Baxi sometimes. He's a sweetheart. We have an Australian shepherd/rough collie mix too (who is every bit as sweet). They entertain each other after they tire us out! Both have always been terrific with our dc.
  9. I just downloaded an app called Articulation Station (by Little Bee Speech) that I think will be great for my ds with articulation difficulties. It's a simple app, but the speech is clear, the graphics are good, and the presentation is uncluttered and well-organized. It presents the speech sound in isolation, then progresses through activities at the word, sentence, and story level. We are working on /p/ at the moment and that sound is offered as a free sample. The rest of the sounds can be purchased separately. I don't plan on buying many, but will probably purchase a few of the sounds my ds has the most trouble with. I'm not affiliated with the product in any way, just wanted to share in case anyone else might find the app to be helpful.
  10. He's a beauty! Pamela, how much outdoor time/exercise will he get? I have a border collie mix and he really needs a LOT of outdoor time. My friends with border collie mixes have had similar experiences. Mine is just now beginning to be able to relax indoors for any length of time at 4 years old. At 1.5 yo he never stopped moving!
  11. I held off on iOS 5 hoping to avoid any glitches, but finally updated a few days ago. I'm experiencing quite a few crashes in Safari now, something I didn't have a problem with using iOS 4. Is this common? Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? Thanks in advance for any tips you might be able to share!
  12. Praying for safety and peace for your sister and her family!
  13. Congratulations! Olivia is such a pretty name!
  14. :grouphug: I'm praying for you, your dd, and your whole family.
  15. MSNBC live video on the MSNBC website (they are having a commercial break at the moment) I'll try to post the link, hope it works: http://video.msnbc.msn.com/msnbc.com/46058377#46058377
  16. :banghead: Oh well, it was a great season! And there's always the Puppy Bowl!
