  1. I read "A Study in Scarlet" by Arthur Conan Doyle and my 10yo read "Little Red Writing" by Joan Holub - great illustrations. :001_smile:
  2. What are his hobbies or interests that he could turn into art? For example, he loves comic books...continue the story/drawings. Adding, my daughters just suggested Minecraft - creating artistic architecture.:)
  3. Are you ready for week 4? Wow :) Watch the video on how to make a perfect circle. What a great idea? We've been really enjoying Learners in Bloom - I hope you are too. :)
  4. I read "Richard III" by Shakespeare and my 10yo reread "Twig" by Elizabeth Orton Jones - she really loves that book, wish I could find more like it.
  5. Thank you to all who responded. I appreciate your advice and expertise. I bought Partnership Writing last night. Yay😂 It's all printed, hole punched and in a binder-wish I had a color printer. So far I've skimmed through the projects and began reading the intro. I'm really glad I took the advice to just get PW first, I think I would have been bogged down with reading before getting to the really awesome looking projects. My 10yo is already excited. She'll help to pull in my 12yo - I can hope. Thanks all you great ladies. Keep giving great advice.
  6. I discovered Charlotte Mason a few years ago and I felt like it clicked, but I also have classical tendencies. I felt the same when I started poking around the BW web site.
  7. Do you feel like most of TWJ is now mostly on the BW web site, blog, periscopes and such? Is there anything in TWJ that's not on the site that you've seen?
  8. Try chicken noodle soup - just the broth. One of our kitties was not well and not eating and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. I gave her some broth and she perked up and went back to herself.
  9. Someone mentioned the 80s fashion that's popular now. What is it? :)
  10. That looks so fun. I would love to try it out with my 10yo and 12yo.
  11. I've decided to get PW. I'll think about TWJ after we try out PW, but then on HSBC I saw Help for High School in a bundle with TWJ. Ahh, so many choices. I hope these prices last for a while. What are you using if you've finished FO? Is that when you could rely TWJ or do you jump into Help for High School?
  12. Thanks, Monica. Do you suggest not getting TWJ or just not yet? From other comments I think I might just get Partnership Writing to see what it's like. My youngest is a young ten so it should still be interesting for her, I wish HSBC had Faltering Ownership too.
  13. We were having dinner with my brother's family and I was eating the shells until I realized no one else was. I thought you ate it like a string bean.
  14. That's good to know about the HSBC deal. I've actually been looking at BW all year. I've read a lot of the posts and watched lots of periscopes and listened to podcasts and we do some of the suggested things. I just started to feel that there's so much great information on her web site what more could be in TWJ. I looked at the sample again and I do see writing activities sprinkled here and there.
  15. Did you feel like you still needed the TWJ? I read on a blog a comment about how there are hundreds of activities in TWJ and it lays out how to help your high schooler. So I thought if TWJ has so much than PW or FO wouldn't be necessary. I'm looking at the current deal on HSBC.
  16. Thanks, Jackie. I'd like to get TWJ, but there's so much info on the BW web site that I'm having a hard time justifying it.
  17. If you get The Writer's Jungle do you necessarily need Partnership in Writing or Faltering Ownership? Does TWJ have writing activities in it or is it more of a manual and the activities are in PW and FO?? :)
  18. Shakespeare's Animated Tales are really good twenty minute videos of about twelve of his plays using claymation, puppets, and more.
  19. Week three looks really fun :) How is it going for anyone participating either with or without book?
  20. My 10yo read "Story Thieves" by James Riley and I read Mark Twain's "The Prince and the Pauper." ☺
  21. My 10yo never had a problem with letter reversals until one day I was volunteering in her Kindergarten class and the teacher was just casually pointing out common mistakes kids make with letter reversals (b/d, p/q) and for some unknown reason my 10yo never forgot it and to this day still reverses the b and d. She has no learning problems, she just never forgot this. If she writes the wrong letter I mention it and we move on, no big deal.
