  1. :iagree: The nastiness upsets me, even if I completely agree with someone.
  2. Yes. It's given because there aren't really any other options for kids. It's known to be safe (if given correctly), while sleep aids used by adults haven't been tested in kids and even if they might be safe, dosages haven't been established.
  3. It didn't help my kids either, and I was always suspicious that it might interfere with the immune response, so I didn't give it. I also don't like to give my kids tylenol or ibuprofen when they're sick for the same reason. I'll give it if they're really miserable, but otherwise I don't want to mess with their immune system. I'm surprised and disappointed the study hasn't got more notice in the medical community. It's only one study, of course, so it needs some follow up, but it certainly makes biological sense.
  4. PSA: There is some recent evidence that giving tylenol at the time of vaccinations decreases the immune response. IOW, it makes the vaccines not work as well. more at link Article
  5. :iagree: Or had a kid with a sleep disorder. For those of you freaking out about an extremely rare dose of a very safe medication, you do realize that your kids are at far, far greater risk every time you get in the car, right?
  6. So you don't take tylenol for an occasional headache, or ibuprofen for a strained muscle?
  7. Depends on how you define "need". Dd had always had trouble sleeping, but it was particularly bad when we traveled. When she was 2, we were visiting dh's parents, and she wouldn't go to bed. After a few hours of trying to get her to sleep, we gave her some benedryl. It made her worse. I don't think she went to sleep until about 2 or 3 am.
  8. New leukemia treatment exceeds 'wildest expectations'
  9. Oh, that looks great! How am I going to fit this in? We were just going to do Genesis as part of classics. Now I want to do the whole course!
  10. Sorry if this has been posted before. I know that some people have been looking for a Bible study curriculum that doesn't promote any particular worldview. I found this yesterday and hoped it might help someone. Bible History

  12. I've met Strider IRL. If Facebook counts, then add Astrid, elizabeth, Pam SFSOM, nmoira, and Mergath.
  13. How do you clean the vegetables from your garden? Is there anything better than plain water to get rid of the critters? I don't mind a little dirt, but I don't want caterpillars with my kale. :ack2:
  14. If you google Momof7inTX and click on cached, you can see posts made by "Momof7inTX". Then click on the regular link (not cached) and the same posts come up with the name Lauren R. So the fact that she had her name changed seems to be true. I'm staying away from the rest of it.
  15. Maybe I'm way off base, but I'm just wondering if the name Anna Marie is significant. Since Ree's real name is Ann Marie. And one of the names that her alter ego used for one of her kids is Paige. Ree has a Paige. And Anna Marie joined at the end of July, shortly after the thread about Ree's TV show. That thread mentioned some of the blogs that satirize Pioneer Woman. Maybe it's just a coincidence. But I don't think so. And I think the apostrophes and misspellings are deliberate.
  16. Theoretically, yes, it's safe if it's handled properly (no cross-contamination) and cooked completely. Salmonella is killed by heating to 165 degrees. NB: This does not hold true for all organisms! Some food poisoning is caused by toxins that are NOT destroyed by heat, so cooking is not always going to prevent food poisoning. I personally would not take the chance. Salmonella is icky.
