  1. :iagree: For me, modesty is about not trying to attract attention to yourself. Or at least not attempting to be the center of attention, based on dress/appearance. I think it's fine, and totally normal, for girls to want to dress up and look pretty. But when she is attention seeking and trying to be the most noticeable, that to me is immodest.
  2. I am an agnostic social liberal and modesty is important to me. However, I think my definition of modesty is very different than most here. I have no problem with showing skin. I'm fine with bikinis, tanks, spaghetti straps, short skirts, dance wear, etc., when it's appropriate. What I'm NOT comfortable with is deliberately dressing in a way to look like you're ready to rip your clothes off and jump in the sack. What concerns me most is the motivation. Some girls will love that dress because it's purple and flouncy and has pretty flowers on it. Other girls are going to love it because they know it's going to be provocative and they want boys to stare at them. I do think it's anti-woman for a teen girl to want to dress like a sex object.
  3. AKA a condiment composed of a specific crystalline ionic compound that absorbs all frequencies of light.
  4. Kalanamak stole 43 cookies! Rules of the game: if you find this (anyone except the cookie thief themselves) then post here to say "I caught the cookie thief! BUT... someone else took 43 cookies from the cookie jar!" That way we know this player has been caught and we'll look on another profile. Next, copy this entire post and paste it onto someone else's profile (player must have more than 100 posts and must have been active in the last month.) Lastly, change the type in red so that the numbers each increase by one. It will be easier to track that way. Please post your findings in the thread entitled SOMEONE STOLE A COOKIE! Forum Game. Have Fun!

  5. I don't know why it won't let me type that word. It's l y m p h a n g i t i s
  6. Red streaks = "lymphangitis", if you want to google. Here's some info. Basically, the infection is in the lymph system, and moving to the lymph nodes. The bacteria can multiply rapidly and can quickly become serious. She should be seen today. Also, she should have a tetanus booster if she isn't up to date, but tetanus doesn't cause lymphangitis. It's usually a type of strep or staph.
  7. There are some other views here. It doesn't look quite so short on this model. But it still looks like a negligee to me. :glare: and
  8. Ah. Got it. I see that one of the local bridal stores carries this brand. Maybe I'll call them and see if they can order it.
  9. Great idea, thanks! How would I know what store to have it shipped to?
  10. I searched and found a place that has the same dress, $40 cheaper, they will do a custom size, and they accept returns! But read their return policy::001_huh: :lol::lol: I hope they sew better than they write!
  11. Come to think of it, I don't know if you can even return store bought homecoming dresses.
  12. I've discovered that this is the policy for all special occasion type dresses. This particular website allows returns for store credit on some dresses, but not this one. Most places are no returns or exchanges at all. My guess is that they want to avoid people wearing them once and then trying to get their money back. :glare: It's unfortunate, because it's slim pickings around here.
  13. Unfortunately, the hypothetical dd can only find it online. No returns, no refunds.
  14. According to CDC growth charts, a 14 year old boy who weighs 150 pounds would be "out of the norm". According to your argument, people would find it acceptable to remove him from his parents. That's clearly ridiculous.
  15. Well, usually when someone makes some sort of an outrageous claim, they're expected to back it up with some evidence. I see a few -a very few- people supporting removing kids in extreme cases, like when their life is in jeopardy. No one here, or anywhere that I have seen, has EVER suggested taking children away because they consider their children's weight outside the norm.
  16. You have a stress test coming up soon, right? Will you be seeing a cardiologist? You may have better luck discussing your meds and side effects with him/her.
