  1. I probably "rented" my modem for 3+ years. I had no idea!
  2. We just replaced a fan looking thing on my dryer. We bought the replacement from Amazon! Make sure the seals on your drum are not ted.
  3. I apologize if this is long. We are possibly moving to Indiana. We live in Alabama now. How do we go about buying a house in another state? I'm not sure if I'm thinking this through correctly. My dh has been at his current job for over 11 years. So I'm thinking we need to start the process before he leaves this job for the other one. Add to that, my current mortgage company will not speak to us and so we are in limbo with our current house. They will not speak to us because they consider our account closed but we are still paying on our house. Thanks!
  4. I normally spend $2-4 per pair of shoes but never over $15 for my hard to fit son. I get Lili's clothes mostly on dollar days at the thrift store. I also shop on the 50% off days too. I have set prices that I refuse to go over, $5 for a pair of plus size jeans for example.
  5. I should have clarified my response. What the OP spent was great for buying new. I only shop at thrift stores an my "clothes" closet. I keep clothes from various sources and my older children in one spot. Lili is usually the only one that I buy for since she is the only girl. I never turn down clothes from anyone and because of this I am floating in boys clothes. Because of my situation I have a small clothing budget for the year.
  6. My Mil came over and measured every window. She came back with curtains for every single window. That was something i had not thought of.
  7. I feel like every day I say to my children that there is an h in both that and what. My dsd is a senior in public school. She consistently uses aloud for allowed and it makes me crazy...or cray cray which she uses too.
  8. Ok, I'm weird. I love to watch curling. My family thinks I'm crazy.
  9. I have an overflowing bookshelf in the bathroom.
  10. If everything is draining then try the snake.
  11. Are you sure it is a clogged toilet? Is everything else draining? If nothing is draining it could be your main is clogged with tree roots.
  12. First we try the plunger. If that doesn't work we use the snake. IF that doesn't work then the rental place will rent us an auger for $40 and they keep the size we need on file for us. As you can see we go through this a lot.
  13. I actually am in the same boat. My IL's feel like strangers to us.We used to have dinner at each other's houses and talk on the phone quite frequently. Now we see them on holidays, and we all live 5 miles from each other. I have always said that I try not to be the same person I was yesterday. I read and learn something all the time. These people are the same as they were 5 years ago. And they disagree with every single parenting choice we make, including shopping at thrift stores. One of my IL's actually told me that they thought you had to show proof of income before you could shop at thrift stores  I'm always excited to hear about great thrift store finds.....
  14. It seems like once a year something happens to make us think we are moving out of state. Last year it was California, this year Indiana. We are thinking Indiana is more of a sure thing and so we have been trying to start the preparations for a possible move in May. I am at a loss as how to start. I know we need to get rid of a lot of stuff but how do I start? How do I decrease our stuff by about 50%? Anyone move to another state with 4 children? I have been researching laws and the homeschool ones are great for Indiana. But the pet thing is causing tears. We currently have 4 dogs and a cat. The city we would be moving to has a limit of 3 pets total. And then there is snow. How do I prepare for a place that actually gets snow?
  15. We pull pranks here all the time. The best one ever was when I painted a bar of soap with clear nail polish.
  16. Not sure about cupcakes but I did make homemade doughnuts yesterday to celebrate Leonard Nimoy's birthday.
  17. I love that one!!! I guess a trip to Target is in my future.
  18. A maxi dress is a long, usually cotton, dress. They have become really popular recently.
  19. I am only 5'2 so I have to hem everything, but my serger is my friend. I also want to point out that large women should stay away from big flower prints...my booKs are large enough without any help from flowers!
  20. I really want to buy myself a maxi dress for this summer. The look so comfortable and they are long which is nice too. Can someone please explain why every single one has horizontal stripes? Some women, namely ones built like me, should NOT wear horizontal stripes....ever!
  21. I finally have one!! This morning my ds3 and I were having a quiet moment in the kitchen and then this happened.... Me: I love you DS3: I love you too DS3: Its cool we love the same vowel.... This kid cracks me up!!!
  22. We are schooling all week since we took our spring break a couple of weeks ago to see our oldest graduate from basic training.
  23. I used to deliver at a steakhouse. I made minimum wage, plus commission plus tips. I made more money delivering than I did when I waitressed at the same place.
  24. I recently bought a sprouter along with some sprout seeds. I have never been able to grow anything, so imagine my surprise when I realized that my sprouts are growing! Since I have never grown anything before I'm not sure when I can eat my sprouts and if I am supposed to eat the bean that the sprout grew from. I should add that I am growing alfalfa, mung beans, and lentils.
