  1. Claritin works wonders for my kids. Youngest had chronic hives when she was little and claritin was the only thing that gave her relief. Claritin works really well for me, but after I've been on it awhile I get a hunger that won't go away no matter how much I eat. So, I rarely take it. It doesn't affect dh or the kids at all like it does me. They have never needed a decongestant while taking it, but claritian also comes with a decongestant in it just look for Claritin-D. I use a nettie pot daily when allergies are bad and it works pretty good.
  2. I had to laugh at the title because I am old enough to be one of the parents who did. Our pedi told me how to fix it. I thought my mother would die when she found out!!! It worked quite well for my 2 yr old if I remember right...that was back in late 78 or 79!
  3. I checked other because right now it's the size of my house. Having schooled since the late 80's I have enough stuff to fill two school rooms at least. I don't have a school room. School spills out all over the house and it drives me crazy. I want a living room, dining room, washroom, bedrooms, and hall way without school all over it!
  4. I use lentils as a meat sub in quite a few recipes. My kids will eat them as sloppy joe's or taco's. 1/2 cp lentils 1/2 cup rice 1 1/2 cp of water Let boil until lentil become soft but not soft enough to lose their shape. Sometimes I have to add a little more water as the level gets too low and I am afraid they will burn. Once done you can add in Taco Seasoning to use as taco filling or a can of sloppy joe sauce.
  5. Meno can come a lot earlier than that for some people!!! My sister in law's came when she was 35. I would get your hormone levels checked to see if you have an inbalance of estrogen and progesterone. I had the irregular periods and creaking popping joints and when I had my levels checked I had NO progesterone. Hope you find your answer!!!
  6. I just want to add that I hope you have read over the entire contract or had an attorney do that so that you are not stuck with something down the road like... if they find termites you have to pay to have it fixed or someother thing that's not in your best interest!
  7. Ugg! I am currently here on the bed surrounded by weeks 27 -36 of year 2 that I printed off last night from my digital yr 2. We have used yr 1 redesigned and yr 2 unit 1 & 2. I really was burned out and disappointed about everything going digital instead of print. I. don't. like. digital. BUT I really don't like what we have tried for history in its place!!!! So, here I sit thinking of just picking up in TOG where we are and going on from there. I picked up yr 3 an 4 in classic for next to nothing a book sale sooooo I think I am back in the TOG camp.
  8. I would call them and tell them you are all sick with what you suspect is the flu and see if they want to reschedule or have you come in. I bet they will reschedule...I mean I hope they will reschedule! Hope you all feel better soon!
  9. Needleroozer your story is soo funny! I have a similar JW story that happened way back in the 80's. They came every week, it drove me crazy!!! One day I just gotten out of the shower, dressed, and still had my hair in a towel. I had not been to the mirror yet. I went to the door, they gave their talk I said thanks, but no thanks and they left. I walked to the bedroom and looked in the mirror and about had a heart attack...a laughing out loud heart attack. Somehow I must have forgotten to wash my face at all because I had mascara ALL down the front of my face. I looked just like Alice Cooper. I have absolutely no idea how those two mean stood at my door for a full 5 minutes at least without once cracking a smile or having a shocked look of some kind. I lived there for another 4 years and never not one time did the JW ever come back to my house!!!!
  10. Fantastic! This is perfect just what I needed! Thanks!
  11. Oh Summer! I am drooling at the thought! Your kefir smoothies sound so good! I have a starter I bought at the health food store but have yet to try, but I am going to now! Do you save some of your kefir for your next batch or do you have to use the starter everytime?
  12. We have used Zane-Bloser for the last two years and dd is just starting cursive. She loves her handwriting books and does them first thing in the morning without being asked! She is just starting cursive this year. I have never used the TM either nor have I felt I needed them.
  13. I just ordered this a few days ago. There are transition sheets for level C for students who have not been in the program before. I don't know if there are sheets for other levels or not. I just looked at C because that is where we placed using there placement Q's on their website.
  14. We've had a Kid Kraft for 3 years and it is still is perfect condition. We started off with a My Loving Family when she was probably 2 and she got this for Christmas when she was 5. She plays with it almost everyday still. Click on the dollhouse link for a lot more houses, and look around for best price I found it a lot cheaper online than what our local store was selling it for! http://www.kidkraft.com/catalog/toys.asp?catid=7&subcatid=7&itemid=65022
  15. I didn't see your post until after I posted...and here I was worried about my kids seeing a lot of thong swimsuits.:tongue_smilie: Sounds like that will be the least of my worries! Maybe we should just go to Sea World instead!
  16. Wow, the beaches sound like they might be a bit rough! I have been looking at some live webcams over the weekend and there seemed to be a lot of people out on the beaches. Thanks for the tips and I will check with Rich with Kids!!
  17. We are thinking of packing up the kiddos and heading down to the beach. We haven't been since before the kiddos were born, so it's been awhile! Anyone been down there this summer...how is it down there since the hurricane? Can you recommend a good place to stay and things to do. Thanks!
  18. Not in our experience. My older child got involved in sex and drugs from the kids in youth group at the age of 16. Youth group was even lead by someone in law enforcement, and over half of these kids were homeschooled. She didn't run around or date. MOST of this happened at church or church functions. That child is now grown almost 30 yrs old still reaping what was sown.
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Readiness_and_Emergency_Preparedness_Act "Vaccine manufacturers lobbied for the legislation, which would effectively preempt state vaccine safety laws in the case of an emergency declaration by HHS, by making clear they would not produce new vaccines unless the legislation was enacted." I heard them talking about this a week or so ago on our local news. I don't remember much but I am guessing that pan-flu has caused the HHS to declare an emergency which has given the vaccine makers immunity...no pun intended. Perry...do you have any thought on the immunologic adjuvants that may be used in these vaccines? I read somewhere about those giving the shots being able to have 10 vials of vaccine and 10 vials of adjuvants and that could be mixed by those giving the shots. I don't know much about them but a big red flag goes up in my head every time I read about them!
  20. Thats a lot of rice! I gained 5 lbs just reading this thread!!!!!! Don't forget to freeze that rice before you store it away! We buy big bags from Sams. I freeze them and then bag it in gallon Ziplocs and put it in a 5 gallon bucket that I bought from Walmart and Lowes in the paint section. Buckets with a number 2 in the triangle with HDPE printed on the bottom are suppose to be food grade.
  21. OUCH! $10 a gallon. I don't know when the blog was posted but I pay $ 4.89 a gallon for organic at Brookshires. I also paid $ 3.99 for organic yogurt for a starter. I had powdered starter from the health food store, but wanted to try to follow the recipe the first time to see how it came out. I am going to use it in my protein shake today and on my baked potatoe for dinner tonight!
  22. MomLovesClassics the crockpot link is just what you want. All I did was add milk let it sit on the counter for 2 1/2 hours on low in a 4qt crock, unplug let sit 3 hrs, add starter and cover with heavy towel and let sit for 8 hrs. That's it. I made it during the day and it was ready and chilled the next morning for breakfast!!
  23. I just made some in my crockpot that came out great! I couldn't believe it. I found this link on HSR, so send it back if you have a crockpot. http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/you-can-make-yogurt-in-your-crockpot.html
  24. I would like to know about the diet suggestions that come with Slim in 6. I don't do much meat and wonder if the diet is built on tons of meat or doable for someone who wants to severely limit meat. I just ordered the 30 Day Shred and two of her other DVD's from Amazon this morning...but the Slim in 6 infomercial gets me everytime, although I haven't ordered it yet!
