  1. Cloudy here too, but I enjoyed the humor in posting a picture (of clouds) for FB. We were also in the path for the total eclipse in 2017 on a cloudless August day. Nothing will top that.
  2. Hmmm. For me, I would leave it on the stand. Wall mounts are typically too high for ergonomic viewing (to me anyway). And I'm lazy--I look at what you have and think, "that looks fine."
  3. 20 min standing dumbbell workout--Fitbymik.
  4. My shoulder injury was obvious overuse writing on a smartboard with my arm overhead (didn't help that the smartboard is mounted too high). I saw my regular doctor, no imaging, likely tendonitis, and had 6 weeks of PT. But the real cure which took many months was no longer writing that way. I now have a standing desk and write on my laptop screen with a stylus and that projects on the whiteboard. My pain was lateral motion--lifting my arm out away from my body. I do exercise with dumbbells once a week and I still have to use lighter weights for any exercise focusing on shoulders or lifting my arms out away from my body.
  5. 25 min on the treadmill this morning and enough walking around school to more than close the exercise ring. And yes, in my brief history running 5k's about a decade ago the winners for women were always in the 50+ age group. And those young moms pushing strollers always beat me.
  6. Bodyweight circuit x2 (which I skipped last week) and a 10 min yoga. It's raining steadily here.
  7. 30 min on the treadmill this morning. No kids in school today. Our schedule shows staff meeting 8:00-10:00 to talk about peer collaboration. Instead of providing time for peer collaboration. The 3 Alg 1 teachers really want time to just meet together and plan...we'll see if that can happen at all today.
  8. @Soror What a stressful week! Hope your dd (and everyone else) gets back to regular form this week. Glad her surgery went well.
  9. Yoga this morning. We have a beautiful day and beautiful fall color. Monday is a no-student day (but teachers still work), so it feels like I have a bit more time to rest and relax but still get caught up a bit. So we're going to celebrate by going to get flu shots here in a few minutes. Covid vaccines are not available here at the moment, otherwise I would have gotten that yesterday and spent today feeling miserable. I'll push that off a few weeks and enjoy the sun instead.
  10. Fellow math teacher here (public high school Alg 1 and Alg 2). Many here homeschooled their kiddos for some number of years (for me K-8 for my younger two) and we just hang out here now for answers to any life dilemma (or conversation on how to spell dilemma) or just to chat. Welcome!
  11. Dumbbell workout yesterday and I'll get on the treadmill here in a few minutes. Mocha first.
  12. My doctor's office (in a large health system here) confirmed that they don't have the Covid vax--there was some issue with the bivalent, not sure what but they hope to have it by mid-October. So I'm holding tight for a few weeks and I'll hold off on flu shot too in the hope I'll still be able to get both at the same time. While flu has been hitting earlier in recent years, it's still usually a little later on west coast than east coast.
  13. I am not easily finding Covid shots available here. And I do now have to worry about who is "in network" for my new insurance. They rattled off a bunch to me over the phone, but the ones I could remember don't have any appointments or don't have any Covid vaccine (not sure which). I will try calling my doctor's office today to see if I can get one there. Ideally I wanted to get both flu and covid vaccines for my disabled dd and myself on Friday because I don't have to teach on Monday. I don't think that will happen and I think I will have to go ahead and get the flu shot and wait some time for the Covid shot (Rite Aid has appointments in November--not sure they're "in network"). And I have students in several classes out with Covid or just returned from Covid.
  14. I did yoga for stress relief this morning and skipped the bodyweight circuit. I actually slept until my alarm--first time this school year. But still feeling stress and a bit of anxiety.
  15. 25 min on the treadmill this morning. Nothing yesterday.
  16. 25 min on the treadmill yesterday, yoga today. Ended the week on a teaching high where a lesson came together in a cool and unexpected way. But also ended exhausted after a very long week. Lots of work for the weekend too.
  17. We have a single-level ~1800 square foot house built from one of the plans available for this neighborhood with a few modifications for our then 6yo in a wheelchair. So instead of steps up to the front door we have a lovely ramp that doesn't scream ramp--just a stretch of sidewalk with planting strips on either side that goes across the front of the house then turns toward the front door, all held up with yard brick. And the entry from the garage at the back of the house is stepless as is the exit out back to the patio. The doors off the hall are all wider 36". The house faces roughly east (a little north east) and has few windows on the south side (which is the master suite side), but we get good light because it's small enough that if you're in the main area as I am now, you get light from both the front windows facing east and the sliding glass door to the patio. After our first experience with our not-wheelchair-friendly previous house, I insisted on both of the skylights in the plan in the kitchen and hall bath (builder was thinking of omitting the kitchen one). Our previous house had a hall bath with no window so you had to turn on the light to use it. In this house there is no window but with the skylight you don't need to turn on a light--it's nice. And after living with a garage entry at basement level with no light, I added one more skylight at the back entry from the garage so again you don't need to turn on a light when you come in with bags of groceries. I think in some parts of the country where it gets super hot you maybe wouldn't do skylights, but they're a big help here where you have many darker months. And we've never had any leaking or other problems with them. Last bit of advice for kitchen light--get under-cabinet lighting to light your countertops. I remember this added $168 to our build--so incredibly cheap for such useful lighting. Ours is just florescent tubes hidden by wood strips that match our cabinets.
  18. I am so tired. Yesterday totally did me in. I was home for 25 min before going back to school for Back to School night. And then came home to prep for today. So tired. I'm going to do a 20 min dumbbell workout now.
  19. 20 min fitbymik cardio this morning. We have back to school night tonight which teachers work from 5:30-7:30--long day. I'm going to try to get home for an hour or so between school and that, and in a perfect world I'd take the dog out for a short walk during that time. We'll see how it goes.
  20. Started with 10 min yoga then did my bodyweight circuit x2. All with a bit of Labrador distraction--"rub my ears! rub my tummy! I want the mat! you're down on the ground again--let's wrestle! I want the mat! rub my ears!" And the cat watching it all and silently stewing under the sofa--not willing to join the circus but wanting an ear rub for himself.
  21. 25 min on treadmill. Steady rain here--summer is over. Dh and I did not walk yesterday because we didn't want to go out in the rain. We'll get used to it again, but it felt nice to stay in and be cozy. I resisted turning on the fireplace--after all it was still in the sixties!
  22. Yoga this morning. I think this is the first day of fall, and we're going from sunny days in the 70's to what looks to be a week ahead of rainy days in the low 60's. So I got some of the patio cushions into the attic. The sofa cushions will stay in the dining area so when the sun comes back out next weekend (and through the rest of October) we can still go out on the patio and enjoy. Another weekend of schoolwork and house chores ahead.
  23. Fitbymik dumbbell workout this morning.
  24. I don't know for you, but I think I'm going to need Alpine Lodge now--thanks @Alte Veste Academy. We have many of the Winter Village sets and put them all up together and I make a little hill out of the white fleece I put down first so the skier and snowboarder have a place to go. And now they'll have an Alpine Lodge. I don't get every Winter Village set as space is tight and I see no need for a fire department or more trains or whatever, but I will add a set I love. Mostly I just get Harry Potter or Winter Village--things I know we're interested in and don't mind adding to our decor.
