Need science fiction suggestions..
beansprouts replied to beansprouts's topic in General Education Discussion Board
That's funny! Actually a great deal of science fiction is very thought provoking and philosophical as well as imaginative. I think I am going to enjoy reading these books. I downloaded and read "Gifts" by Ursula K Leguin earlier this week. I liked the book very much. It was very thoughtful and well written, but the ending seemed abrupt and without resolution. Last night I downloaded "Foundation" by Asimov. I am looking forward to getting into it. I have also wanted to read "Frankenstein" for a while. I have this thread bookmarked, and will be referring back for more suggestions. Another question: What is the difference between science fiction and fantasy? There seems to be some overlap. Thanks! -
Congratulations, Carrie!!

For me :-) I am interested in science fiction, but it is a genre that I haven't explored much. I would love some suggestions. Thanks :001_smile:

Nice siggy, EL! I've been accomplishating in a very different direction lately. The past year and a half has included lots of babies and bellies, with progressively less homeschooling. This year my two oldest are attending a small private school where they are thriving academically as well as socially. Life is different now. I'm not sure when or how I went from homeschooling and making my own clothes to being a "working mom", but I do know that our family is exactly where we are supposed to be. :001_smile:

How have you been??? :cheers2:

I attended a birth about a month ago for a family who expected and prepared for a baby girl. They were very surprised ;)

Hardly. Okay do you all REALLY want to know my deep, dark secret confession that few people know about me??? Here it is: I used to work as a telemarketer. "Sears vinyl siding and replacement windows..." Do you think less of me now??? :tongue_smilie: -
Scientific research confirms that puppies do indeed die. If you don't teach your kids that puppies die, then what do you teach them? Do you avoid the subject altogether? I am not trying to argue with you. I just want to understand. :tongue_smilie:

Well, it is important, pie! If you don't know what I think about what you thought when I said that because I didn't tell you then... well you just may go through your entire life never knowing such insanity exists!!

Well, I had a puppy named "Neener" who died two years ago. Your use of his name so callously is very hurtful and offensive to me.
