  1. Can anyone recommend a good cd that helps kids memorize math facts by music??
  2. that's how I learned. :glare: Be prepared because I doubt he'll be the last who wants to share this new found knowledge. It would be best to arm him with a bit if truth (not detail) and let him know he did the right thing by coming and having an pen conversation with you.
  3. SO...i just read the thread about "If my kids were in school"... first of all, it cracked me up secondly, it hit very close to home It got me thinking...with all of us being surrounded by our kids day in and day out, how are we making sure we ARE getting the time/space we need to take care of ourselves so we can take care of those around us? When DH and I decided to homeschool I told him that I would NEED some weekly alone time. I could get through the week much better knowing I would be getting that time. He had been playing volleyball at the church on Tues/Thursday nights for fun and we came up with a plan. On Tuesday night he could go play volleyball straight from work and on Thursdays, the second he walks through the door I'm off the clock! I leave and I don't come home until AFTER bedtime. I'm free roam around the mall, get the occasional pedicure, hang out with some girlfriends, browse through a craft store...ANYTHING! At one point we switched days and I signed up for a class at Joann's and a few times I've gone to the apple store to learn more about my mac. Lately I've been bringing my oldest daughter for some girl time. It's been AWESOME!!! I love it. It's how I make it and I come home able to face the week. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes the kids have cereal for dinner and the house isn't how I'd prefer, but who cares! So, how do YOU take care of yourself and get the time you need to re-charge?
  4. hi floridamama! I just wanted to say that I'm in florida too! We're in the Riverview area right outside of Tampa! Welcome to the area!

  5. :iagree: Me too! Me too!!!! I always put def. hoping they'll get the point! It doesn't matter how many times I check the spelling, the next time I try I get it wrong!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one!
  6. :bigear: good question!!! We just moved to the mainland from hawaii 4 months ago and my kids are totally lost when it comes to a lot of things!
  7. Thank you! I know exactly what you mean. Although I'm SOOO done having kids, I don't think I'll get over that yearning when I see an infant. I LOVE the newborn stage...the squeaks, the yawns, the stretching...gets me every time!
  8. Do you use FLL AND WWE together??? Seperate? one or the other???
  9. My DS6 is reading pretty well..I guess. I'm not sure what he should be doing at this age, but he's not as advanced as my DD was at this age. I know he can sound out/read most sight words but we don't have any reading material for his age around the house. What books would you recommend?? I was to start pretty basic like "The cat ate a rat" type of stuff just to build up his confidence.
  10. This is my first year homeschooling and I have 4 that I teach, a toddler and a newborn. Needless to say, my kids spend plenty of time waiting for me while I'm with the others. I'm looking for small things they school aged kids can do while they wait...journal writing, handwriting practice...those types of things. Maybe even an educational game or two. What do your kids do while they wait on you??
  11. I have no idea but it sounds like heaven!! Someone PLEASE have the recipe for me...i mean her!
  12. My kids would ditch me for grandma's house in a second! She always has a big salad bowl stocked with treats on her counter. Even with out the treats...they'd still choose her. And I'll get to be the same with my grandkids!!! How's that for payback? :)
  13. if you downloaded them then you should be able to burn them on a disc. BTW, can I get the link to where you found them? I'm having trouble navigating the site.
  14. DH and I were cub masters until we moved. DS 9 has been involved in scouts for almost 2 years.
  15. Here's my hotness.. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3vhI15egay8/TMcQVy-C8RI/AAAAAAAAAbk/v5oVYjTub0A/s1600/DSCF0267.JPG and here's a bigger image of him in my profile pic http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3vhI15egay8/TMcQefMFfLI/AAAAAAAAAbs/tYqZyT0UTcs/s1600/DSCF0850.JPG When people question me about my big family I just smile and say "I have a hot husband." That catches them off guard enough for them to just smile and walk away.
  16. Ugh, i've seen this one too...AT walmart with his 3 boys, two of them in the cart...seriously...great example for your kids, pop.
  17. We are LOVING sequential spelling!!! It's pretty cheap, too. I would highly recommend it.
  18. I went to a piano teacher who, despite being much older, had the softest most beautiful hands! She kept olive oil by the sink and put some on her hands after each time she washed the dishes. That was all the convincing I needed!
  19. is Fallan pronounced Fallen, like something that fell, or like Jimmy Fallon's last name...
  20. I just made this with my daughter and had to share. It was delicious! Of course, adding cream cheese to anything makes it heavenly in my book! http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Loaf/Detail.aspx What about you, any fall recipes you love? Any links to something you're dying to try? I love EVERYTHING about fall food! I'm such a comfort food eater. DD7 and I are about to make this bad boy... http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Oatmeal/Detail.aspx
