  1. I know many who give only the composite. Never heard of a complaint!
  2. Barb, Thanks for sharing this. I struggle with this, too, but it's getting worse as 13yo exhibits (typical 13yo!) defiance. Thanks for showing that I can transform! I'd love to learn what helped you to overcome these issues, if you wouldn't mind pm'ing me.
  3. I think I learned this one here on the boards - it's my favorite and easiest meal - crock pot or no! Add a jar of salsa to ~4 chicken breasts; cook 4-6 hrs on high or 6-8 on low. I usually serve it with rice and a salad. I've seen other recipes that start this way, and then add a can of black beans and canned or frozen corn at the end of cooking until heated through. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it would be good with tortillas. I also recommend Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook by Hensperger. I believe there is no cream of anything soup to be found! I esp. like some of the bean pot recipes.
  4. Thanks for info so far! Anyone else have information to share?
  5. I'm curious about other ps districts' part-time enrollment policies; could you help me? If you happen to know your local district's policy, could you share it? I'm interested in: (1) Name & location of district (if you share that sort of thing on-line; if not - maybe just a general location?) (2) Whether they allow part-time enrollment (3) The district's definition of part-time (that is, what part-time enrollment entails) So here's mine: Bloom Carroll, central OH Yes - max. of 2 classes generating a total of 2 credit hours per year. Thanks! Michelle
  6. But she uses a labeling technique in both the Latin-to-English and English-to-Latin translations that has been useful. (We've done I and 1/2 of II.)
  7. Key to. In fact, dd10 will be using them to review these very topics this summer!
  8. Amazingly, the long-overdue maintenance items on our 8yo van (which we intend to keep at least 4 more years) came to almost exactly the amount of our rebate. Satisfying to have it done and paid for, but still not a 48" flat-screen LCD!:glare:
  9. Did anyone else think it odd that the house blew up with her in it, and she had barely a scratch? I also thought her actions after the explosion odd. But like others, I'm having trouble reconciling that with Desmond's vision! Since we know Christian is (was?) dead, and now Claire's with him (the same as him, has gone with him, "in communion" with him?), I'm guessing she is in a similar state.
  10. Yup! That's okay with me, too. And that's why I like reading & posting here. Thanks!:) ETA: Of course, I will still go back to my previous "lurking status" - I'm just not good at this sort of dialogue! (Any dialogue, really!) So to anonymous repper - I didn't actually threaten to leave, just indicated I'd be quiet. I'd have appreciated being able to tell you that personally. As others have said in other situations - leave a name next time! ;)
  11. Wow - I sure didn't mean that to come out as an indictment of what you just shared! I sincerely apologize. I was answering the rhetorical question you posed about how I would feel. Perhaps a bit too literally, but you'll have that with me. (I suppose if you knew me better you'd be able to "hear" that I meant no harm.) (Going back into lurkdom now... much less chance of offending):leaving:
  12. DD and I both got some from walking on the wide, paved trail at the park (we weren't exactly tramping through the tall grass!) That's never happened before.
  13. I guess that's exactly what I'm saying. I may be pretty uptight and over-cautious, but it seems to me that it's reasonable to expect that I, the parent, should be rational and lucid enough to know that my kids have not escaped the house sometime in the night, still to be missing in the morning. If it happened when I was sober (that is, if they were to escape the house without my hearing) I'd feel much the same way about myself.
  14. I'm not sure of details, but could she apply for a TIN (tax identification number) that they could use? (I know that's what I used to report my daughter's daycare for tax credit.) According to this information, it's for individuals who aren't eligible for SSN's. It doesn't address whether individuals with a SSN can use them. Might be looking into - it would be mutually beneficial for them to pay her out of their pre-tax money! http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96287,00.html#what
  15. Singularly poor choices there, to cause them to misplace their children! Judgemental maybe, but hearing of children who bear the brunt of adults' poor choices upsets me as well.
  16. (Forgive me if this has been posted already. But it is IMPORTANT enough to repeat, I'm sure.) :D
  17. Primary Sources in American History Also, check your local state historical society. Here's Ohio's - lots of links! OHS Archives/Libraries Google particluar items that you're looking for - so much is *somewhere* on the web. In many cases, we've found not only transcriptions of the original documents, but also scans of the original documents themselves. We've also found many books on-line that we wouldn't have access otherwise.
  18. I always dread these. I finally go because my MIL enjoys attending with me and dd's, and sometimes my aunt comes, too. (Oddly, or rather, not surprisingly if you were to know her, my mother never attends.) And I enjoy these more than I would ever think possible! Our church has 120-150 worshipping members, and have 80-100 attend the mother-daughter tea. It's always on a Saturday afternoon; never advertised for 3 hrs, but often lasts about that long (at least 2-1/2 in most cases). It's advertised "for mothers or daughters". We have enough of each to go around, so no one worries about bringing her own. :) Several of the husbands and sons help serve, but the ladies who organize it prepare the food. All ages are welcome, and all ages come. At last year's, there was a small table set up for the little girls (3-5yo's), who sat together in the middle of the room and were very cute. Ornery at times, but cute. And it's inevitably 95-100% white, because that reflects our church's membership. As a rule, I don't like (and avoid!) "girly" things, but I always go away from it feeling that it was very nice.
  19. Yeah, me too. All I could think was, "I'd definitely grow me one!":D
  20. we were talking about this thread and their baby name choices! (She's just entered 2nd trimester!) Girl: Iris Sunshine (DK about spelling) Boy: Thor (shoot - can't recall the middle name that went w/Thor!) They liked many of the suggestions mentioned here! I was lobbying heavily for Diogenes. (But I like Thor - Thor Diogenes?) And dd10 is insisting I tell you that she likes Owen and Oliver for boys. :)
  21. Hey - what about Diogenes!? Janna - I think you should give it serious consideration! :D (Of course, then you'd have to put him in ps just to hear the teachers pronounce it "di-o-jeans" on the first day of school!)
  22. And I like it! (Of course, I like Theophilus, too!) :D
  23. C'mon - a link, a clue (the hit-me-in-the-head-with-a-brick kind!!!) Please?
  24. Ohio12 - I pm'ed you! nmoira - you'll like the video on the second link!
