  1. My son wants to study fish this coming year for science. Has anyone seen a unit already put together for such a study (books, lesson plan, schedule)? I just don't have time to put one together on my own, so if anyone knows of one on fish or marine biology please enlighten me. ? This is for upper elementary and this child will only apply himself to things that interest him. ? Thanks!!
  2. If you want something cheap that gets it done you can look at Schoolaid health on the Milestone books website. It is both the text and workbook in one for like $5.
  3. I don't necessarily think Simply Grammar would be a complete adult grammar review. It is rather light. For a more thorough review and an all around terrific resource to own would be the English grammar handbook Christian Light sells. My high schoolers refer to it all the time as do I when teaching my younger students.
  4. something from a Christian perspective that will last. I would like a brief explanation of the event, and some resources listed. Preferably a four year rotation. I would also love to find a quality hardback elementary history/middle school spine written from a Christian perspective that could be done in a four year rotation with short easy to schedule lessons. If anyone knows of anything let me know. I haven't had much time to research things the last couple years. Thank you!!! :)
  5. I have a daughter that loved Biology and really wants to take Micro Biology. I'm at a loss of what would be best for her. Recommendations are welcome....preferably something fairly affordable. :)
  6. Welcome to the boards! My husband is from Romania and we have helped a couple families there get started with homeschooling. We homeschool our own 8 children as well. We are headed back for a visit in August. Where are you located? My husbands village is kinda between Oradea and Cluj.
  7. I've used the MP K for 2 children so far and have really liked it. I did not start StoryTime Treasures right away though. I thought the books would be too hard. We did copywork and read other things. Then when we did start StoryTime Treasures we trade read. I would read a few lines and then he would read a few. It only took a couple days and he could read the whole book himself. I was really surprised. My advice is to try it at a slower pace and see what happens.
  8. claluck, you are so lucky. I wish I would have downloaded it when I had the chance!!! I loved the quotes, scripture, and poems she chose for the copywork etc. And, I love the writing instruction....it works for us and I can't afford IEW. I'm so disappointed.
  9. They were written by Kathryn Louis and available at Milestones Academy. We've been using the first level and I would love to continue, but they are no longer available. Can anyone help me, please. Thank you, Christina
  10. I used Horizons at the lower level (3 and 6). Our experience was that there wasn't enough review. My guy forgot stuff between reviews. I went back to CLE. I'm sure there are some kids who don't need as much, but mine did.
  11. I bought 2 or 3 of the MIF student textbooks off Amazon for 99 cents. They were brand new. We use CLE, but are using MIF for enrichment and for summertime math.
  12. I like checking boxes too. There are a lot of yahoo groups for Ambleside that have tons of schedules with boxes to check for each year. I have a whole notebook full. Just pick the one you like best. I like the ones Abigail shared too.
  13. We use CLE and I have the first three levels of MIF. I'm actually thinking of having my kiddos do MIF over the summers for fun. Then we can have the best of both worlds.
