  1. Sorry, for all the sonlight questions! :tongue_smilie: Just trying to get my feet underneath me. I realize I said Core D, but I am actually looking at Core D+E. Has anyone used this core? Is this one of the ones with the new LA and Bible component included? if so do you know if there has been a substantial price increase? Can anyone talk to me about this core? I am thinking of using this with an 11 and two 10 yr olds. I am SL illiterate and am having a difficult time understanding how this works. Alright, back to the sonlight website! :D
  2. Thanks! I am really sitting on the fence with this one. I am starting to wonder if I would be better off looking for an older IG and going from there. I have no intention of using them for LA, Bible, or Science, so the changes seem ineffectual for me. Thanks again, I am not sure how I missed this post on a previous thread I was reading. Since I am newly considering SL, I am finding the idea of navigating their products used intimidating, but that may be the best direction. It is a bit frustrating, because I know I would not be considered the "right kind" of customer. :tongue_smilie:
  3. I have been reading through some recent Sonlight threads and I am noticing some rather passionate opinions being expressed against them. Curiosity is getting the better of me. What is going on? If you are more comfortable please feel free to pm me. Is this a customer service issue? a content issue? or an identity issue? ...just not sure what is going on and I do not want to plunge us into something that would not work for my family. Thanks!
  4. They will be in 6th and 5th. I am really leaning towards Sonlight. I did the "pull it all together myself" thing for 2.5 years and although I think it went okay, I really want a year that will teach me better planning.
  5. I will add Memoria Press to the list of contenders! ;) I just looked at the 6th grade level and something seems like it missing, but I cannot figure out what it is. Grammar? Science? I see a science, but it seems a bit skimpy. Ack! here I go again. I will nit pick until I have deided that only I canpiece together what I want....and then I will not have ANY lesson plans. I need a good solid year with plans to give me a solid planning foundation. :tongue_smilie:
  6. ...........the children will be coming back home after this school year ends. This has been a short lived foray back into the world of ps, but it has shown me a side of ps I had not experienced before. As a result, there is no way dd11 will be attending the middle school here next year. Honestly, I am a bit intimidated to homeschool dd11, twins 10, and ds 7. I need more accountability and structure. I am not good at lesson planning.....HORRIBLE AT IT! So, I am looking at Sonlight or TOG. I am struggling a bit with the religious angle, but I am coming to terms that this is just something I am going to have to work around. What would you suggest? What is working for your family? What will give me the structure I so desperately need and hold my hand in providing the kids with a quality education. Thanks!
  7. Yes, it is possible. I am fine in front of groups, but I love living in the middle of nowhere and having time to myself. I am another INFJ, but was pretty borderline on the other one that is very similar.
  8. Dd has been doing something for years that has always bothered me, but I put it down to immaturity. When asked to do something, like a chore, she will convulse and roll her feet and writhe a bit. This could just be a bad attitiude/habit, something she does to express her displeasure at having to do something she does not want. The only thing is she gets in trouble for it every.time.it.happens, and yet she still does it. She is about to turn 11, it is embarrassing, but she cannot seem to stop it. Any idea or thoughts?
  9. :iagree: and google "forced resignations." This is a really ugly thing done in the religious community. It is a way t get away with things that could not be done in more "normal" situations. :glare:
  10. We have little drawers in our sectional. I found our's little nest there one time when I did not even know he was missing. :tongue_smilie: Ours is an escape artist!!!
  11. I think, as a runner, you should be fine. You will be getting plenty of carbs. Plus, the point of the Daniel fast is that they were healthier and stronger as a result of it. ;)
  12. Can you find out what the repairs are and lower the selling price accordingly? If I had any room to do that I would. It is probably what they are trying to get you to do anyway. :grouphug:
  13. I think this is the best solution. It sounds like he has not done anything wrong, and even then the three month severance is within the realm of normal. It is probably not what you have to do, but it would be wise. Any future pastor's will want to know how previous ministers were treated upon their exit. Edited: In my experience severance was distributed in the same manner as the regular salaried check. In our case it came every two weeks and all benefits were intact.
  14. Hmmmm, Pandora did not have quite the ease of use I have found today with spotify. I just search for an album and click and drag the song to my playlist. I connected it to my facebook so I can share with dh and other friends. It's kind of like Pinterest for music. :D Although the search feature is being a bit glitchy at the moment. :glare: I have found a Seeds bible memory cd for the kids, byzantine chant, musical, oldies...there really is not a lot I haven't found. Even some great songs by french artists.
  15. Yes, facial injections are quite normal to. :001_huh:
  16. :toetap05: I have been happily listening to everything from LOTR to Adele to Cat Stevens. Wasted entirely to much time creating playlists for house cleaning, walks and the kids. This is fun! :D
  17. Well, I have an Israel and it is not name a recommend. :glare: In many ways I love it, but it is a difficult thing to explain in our heavily arab based church.
  18. It is margarita night here!!!! ;) :grouphug:
  19. What are yours? I am trying to come up with some easy morning breakfast foods to help my ADHD'ers. Would love suggestions. They are in PS right now, so it would need to be something relatively easy to throw together.
