  1. I just recieved All About Spelling Level one and two in the mail today. I planning to use both levels with ds this coming year. Since he will be 7 I'm sure he will fly through level 1. dd (4.5) saw the materials, and was really excited about them. I was planning to start her with them after ds was done. Has anyone used this with a very bright 4 year old. She knows all her letter sounds and can read cvc words fairly easily.
  2. We pretty much finished our school year last Friday! This week we are finishing up science. For the rest of May and June we will be doing reading, nature study, math games, etc. I plan to start up the new school year the beginning of July. We will take 1 week off in Sept., 1 week in Nov., 2 weeks in Dec., and 1 week in March.
  3. What about Hand Writing Without Tears? It is supposed to work well for Lefties. My dd is left handed and she is enjoying there K workbook. The cursive one is for 3rd grade, but you could probablly use it for your 6 year old.
  4. Thanks guys, I need to make a trip to my library to see what they have.
  5. Have you looked at All About Spelling? I have heard of many people using it with kids who are still learning to read.
  6. Here I am going through a big stack of US history texts and books that I have been gathering, and I relized Lewis and Clark are not covered in any of them. I found that very strange. We live in Oregon and my plan was to visit Fort Clatsop next spring after we study Lewis and Clark. Does anyone know of any good books about Lewis and Clark for early elementary age?
  7. Yes I do know about Adventures. I have looked at it many times. I seem to always look at MFW, but end up talking myself out of it:lol:. I just feel like the TM would be a waste of my money, because I can do it myself. Although it is much more time consuming. I actually have many of the books used in Adventures.
  8. Yes you can do any of the three zoo books you want. We started with Zoology 3, because it went along with my plans. It has not really been a problem. Once in awhile she references the first two books, but it hasn't taken away from the study. For my dh's sanity we will do them in order with our younger kids.
  9. Right now we are going through The Carnival of Animals(book/cd). Next year we will be using Story of the Orchestra, and Wee sing America.

Yes please explain it to us. :)
  11. I'm putting together a plan for our US history study next year. I thought it best to go through an overview of US History before we start Ancients. What our your favorite US History read alouds/living books fiction or non? Also any fun activities or projects you ave done along with a US study? I will be doing this with ds 2nd, and ddK. TIA
  12. Thanks guys, I will be looking into reading this after I finish A Charlotte Mason Companion (just got it today). I like to spend sometime during summer break reading these types of books.
  13. I just got A Charlotte Mason Companion in the mail today. It is a lot thicker than I expected, and I can't wait to read it. I also enjoyed reading Home Education from her series. I also Found A Charlotte Mason Education, and More Charlotte Mason Education to be very helpful.
  14. It is strange. I have read A Charlotte Mason Education, More Charlotte Mason Education, For the Childrens sake, and Home Education. They also have the rest of CM's original series.
  15. How do you edit signatures on this forum?
  16. The kids do a lot of outdoor play when the weather permits. Indoors we do dancing, obstacle courses, Wii, etc. They also do swim lessons, soccer, basketball sometimes.
  17. Does it matter which edition you buy?
  18. Ok  I do that all the time. No problem.
  19. What does *nak* mean?
  20. Well I will be using PLL with my soon to be 7 year old.
  21. How helpful to you was reading The Well Trained Mind? Right now we are very Charlotte Mason/Eclectic. I'm interested in finding out more about classical education. Our library does not have TWTM, or I would have already read it. I have read all they have about CM. Just wondering if it worth me buying, so tell me why you enjoyed it.
  22. Here's mine: http://bobandabbies.blogspot.com/2010/05/weekly-wrap-up_14.html Short and sweet :)
