  1. sympathy completely! My youngest is like this, before she takes her meds she is angry and NOISY. I have to remind her constantly, "lower your volume" until the medication kicks in. I used to be very anti medicine, and she has been on it about 3 months now, wow, what a difference. I was wrong to be so anti medicine, it has helped her so much! She evens tells me it helps her focus and be nice. I feel your frustration and pain. I'm thankful that the meds are working for my daughter, the before medicine time is a pain, but at least their is a time now when she is pleasant and focused.
  2. on my girls sweaters several times. I just lightly run over it and it shaves them off. You can try on a small spot and see if it works for you.
  3. AWESOME!!! What brave girls...and as my youngest daughter says when she does something brave, they are "one tough mommas" Really amazing girls!:D
  4. for a couple of months. I was not all that impressed, there were parts that were good, but my youngest found it difficult to navigate (she is 8) and my 10 year old was bored with it. I know many love it, and maybe you will too, it just wasn't a great fit for us. The only way it would work with my 8 year old was if I stayed with her the whole time to do each activity which I felt ate up to much time we could be doing on other things.
  5. I have never seen this advice, I am thankful to see it today! Red really does come across negatively, yet the green would come across as less threatening. DD melts when I mark anything in red pen so I started using a pencil, which just doesnt carry the "weight" that the pen correction did. Lovin the green pen idea:D
  6. 14 levels...wow! so much to look forward to! It seems only yesterday I was just a little larvae :p
  7. I really did miss the thread, I am glad though that the moderators try and keep the board from spammers/trolls/etc.. I didn't mean to offend anyone, just glad we have good moderators is all.:o
  8. I am however very thankful that they ferret out these people..:)
  9. It's hard being a larvae, isn't it? congratulations on moving on up :D
  10. We do the Singaprore/MUS combo and are enjoying it. We only added in MUS this year, but it is great. They are very different, and yet compliment each other well.
  11. Hardwoods: Damp mop with warm water and once a week with weak vhite vinegar. I use a microfiber mop and pop the top off and throw into the washing machine. Washing Machine: My LG frontloader is almost 3 1/2 years old....so wonderful, so wonderful so wonderful. School Room: Not sure, I use a spare bedroom, but I would love built in bookcases or maybe just a giant walk in closet would be better that had lots of shelves. I went to one homeschool moms house, and her school room was just a kitchen table and 2 large comfy sofas and a rocking chair...BUT she had this humongeous walk in closet that housed all her books, clutter, assignments, etc...it kept the main work area very neat!
  12. That is so sad that this was not caught by the doctors. I'm so proud of you for being his advocate...kuddos to you guys:)
  13. We never had the Home Instructors Guide either, and we are now on 4A... I promise you don't need it for 1A...LOL
  14. We love the cd, but only use it for about the last 8 tracks which are the songs for helping verbs, prepositions, conjunctions, etc I will say I love it, and my kids love it... With that said, my oldest dd did like listening to the story portion of the cd also, not just the song/chant portion. Definitely worth purchasing if you are just starting FLL
  15. Hi there, I think you will really enjoy using Singapore, I wish I had started it with my dd at that age. We started with Saxon which she hated and then switched to Singapore. We had manipulatives from purchasing everything under the sun for Saxon, but we did not end up using them for Singapore. IMO you would only need the 1A Primary Mathmatics Workbook and also the 1A Primary Mathmatics Textbook. If you want manipulatives, any type of of those clicking blocks is great, or you can use beans, pennies, etc. If you want to spend some extra money and you allow your children time on computer, both mine really like the Rainbow Rock CD that goes along great from 1A thru 2B. HTH!:)
  16. Dd was awful in math when we started homeschooling at end of first grade. She was a "victim' of Everyday Math (sorry but I loathe that program) We started Saxon which she hated, then switched to Singapore which made her LOVE math. We also have MUS and add it in a bit to help us with long division. We will be with Sinapore until next year (5th), we are considering Teaching Textbooks but i'm not sure. I do plan on using Chalk Dust for 8 thru 12.
  17. I take a break, I rearrange things, I shake things up. Maybe school that day really is snuggling for a couple of hours reading light, fluffy literature. Life is hard, we all need a break sometimes... and if you still don't feel like you can give yourself a break, visit a public school for a day, watch the poor teachers trying to redirect, teach, stop arguments, fights and etc all at the same time... Goodness, they turn on the tv for my daughters class all the time, if they can take a break, surely you can!
  18. ironing! please, this is a polite forum, lets not use use vulgar language...:p Oh, sorry, I guess it is only me who sees ironing as bad language...;) I'm waiting for wrinkled clothes to be in style, don't suppose there is much chance of that! As far as sheets, well, I change them once a week because I keep 2 or 3 sets for each bed, so I just pull out a clean set and put on just as soon as I pull off the dirty ones. If I don't do it right then, well, it will be 9:00 at night I'm facing a naked bed, and I don't like facing a naked bed at 9:00...
