  1. Sheri and Kareni, thank you. I asked my daughter to look at this course more thoroughly and she said that she's fine with it. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks again.
  2. Nothing - and the dogs were barking all. night. long - so only got 2 hours of sleep. I know, right?
  3. My taste in books is a lot like yours - John Grisham, Maeve Binchy (one of my all-time favorites) and Malcolm Gladwell. Here are some of my favorites - they're on my Pinterest board: Anything by Fannie Flagg, although my favorite is Can't Wait to Get to Heaven The Girl Who Chased the Moon - pretty much any Sarah Addison Allen (but not so much her most recent book "Lost Lake" or whatever it's called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (already mentioned) Funny in Farsi and her second book Laughing Without an Accent The Geography of Bliss - non-fiction The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt - not to be read on an e-reader or Kindle, since it has beautiful illustrations - love this book The Sunday Philosophy Club I hope that your surgery and recovery goes as well as can be.
  4. I cannot seem to find the thread/s for American School - specifically their Essential Mathematics course - the one that most people seem to strongly dislike. Dd completed the first Essential Mathematics course and it was, without a doubt, the absolute worst math course I have ever encountered. At the time, we did not know that she could opt out of it. I wish that we had known this. She has now received the second Essential Mathematics course. I haven't had much time to look at in detail. It looks rather unappealing (yet again). Does anyone have any experience with this specific course? Can she opt out of it? Are there any benefits to just sticking with it? Thank you.
  5. This thread and my daughter's recent start with oil pulling (great results by the way) are motivating me. I first heard about this a few years ago and have wanted to try it. My problem is that I have a terrible, terrible gagging problem. I think that I'll try it and start slowly.
  6. I thought that I'd be able to start working out again from today or tomorrow, but it doesn't look like it. It's very hard to keep that particular area as dry as possible - especially in this climate. Hope your back feels better, and so sorry to hear about the lice. I hate, hate, hate lice. We had that problem almost ten years ago. It was awful.
  7. Saw this. This is so me. I love smelling books. in fact, one of my dearest friends and I barely knew each other until we went to a bookstore and realized that we're both book smellers. She was a closet smeller and was always rather embarrassed about it, whereas I was very open and out there. We got quite a few funny looks in the bookstore. To this day, we laugh about that .
  8. Yes, Buzzfeed anything is quite bizarre and rather entertaining. The "Recommended For" for each book is hilarious. #17's "recommended for" is rather weird/disturbing/and wacky at the say time  :leaving:.
  9. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: She is so adorable. Congratulations to all!
  10. Sounding like a broken record, but feel really blobby and yucky not being able to workout. Just a few more days. :grouphug: Wow! I'm very impressed :D.
  11. Thank you, Amanda. You said it better than me :).
  12. Wonderful :D! I was thinking of your knee earlier today. Since you and I have quite similar taste, and please, anyone else here, who knows, would love your feedback - has anyone tried the Slim Series? http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/slim_series.do Thank you :). I'm tempted, but I do know that I need a new program/bunch of DVDs like I need a drill to my head .
  13. It bothers me also. I have my settings set so that no one can tag me without my approval. Not sure how well it works sometimes, but it seems okay most of the time.
  14. Thank you all :). :grouphug: Happy travels, Heather. :grouphug:
  15. Thank you so much :D. I'll try to remember to do so. Being part of this thread will be quite motivating.
  16. Can't wait to be able to workout again. Patience, patience, patience .
  17. I read Escape from Camp 14 - 4 Stars. Got it on sale during our trip to Seattle and Alaska. This and "Nothing to Envy" are among the absolute most compelling books I have ever read. Wow. Just wow. I couldn't recommend them more. If anyone's interested, I personally recommend Nothing to Envy to be read first. Then, take a break for a while, and read this one. MY RATING SYSTEM 5 Stars Fantastic, couldn't put it down 4 Stars Really Good 3 Stars Enjoyable 2 Stars Just Okay – nothing to write home about 1 Star Rubbish – waste of my money and time. Few books make it to this level, since I usually give up on them if they’re that bad.
  18. I only just noticed this thread and love the idea. I wonder if I should post if I only do yoga a few times a week (maximum). I seldom do meditation and barely know how to do it. I wish I could do both more often.
