  1. I'd much rather drive 81 than 95.
  2. School, classes, library, work. I guess the whole online dating thing is pretty popular now (Match.com, etc) we have three couple-friends who met that way.
  3. This. Binders are bulky and take up a lot of space. The Peace Hill books are nicely bound, lay fairly flat, and are easy to stick on a bookshelf. Although, my favorite version now is a PDF on my iPad.
  4. That's would I'd do. They'll survive. I had the stomach flu so bad one day when my twins were 5 and my husband was out of town. I told them to eat whatever they could find. I think they ate string cheese and yogurt for lunch. It worked!
  5. What a waste of resources. This is why crazies are crazy. They are indulged.
  6. My husband was reprimanded at work for laughing too loud. True story. It was in his yearly review.
  7. I'm bumping this because I can't stop wondering...
  8. My 10 year olds would never think of that, have never watched or read something like that, and would not be allowed to see something like that. But, we don't watch horror movies and I'm in the 10-is-too-young-for-Hunger-games camp. We do, however, read Harry Potter and Percy Jackson and those can be violent. Double standard? I don't know.
  9. Ok, I'm going to just try frying the pork chops in a pan then!
  10. Awesome!!! Thank you so much! Dinner will be an adventure. The power workers are in my driveway right now. No power yet, but they've never been here this quickly, so that's a good sign. We are usually last. Last time it took them four days.
  11. We have an old, simple, wood burning stove with a flat surface. Our power is out, but I have the stove fan plugged into our small generator. We have a line down on the property, so we'll probably be without power for a few days. Other than beans in a pot, what can I cook on it? I have pork chops, eggs and bacon, brussel sprouts, and collard greens that need to be eaten in the next few days. Can I just use my Kirkland stainless steel pots and pans on it??? I don't have any cast iron (but I should get some, I know). What about tin foil dinners? Is there a way to cook the pork chops in foil? I have good meat thermometer.
  12. I read about Burns Prk and was unclear about the safety. Is it a safe place to camp?? I will be alone with my girls and the dog. It sounded easier to get to than Maumelle. What do you think?
  13. Well, we are without power and water today because of the storm, and I can't even drive into town to shower or get extra supplies. It sucks.
  14. Ask your management company for advice. Our contract states that our management company will take care of it all, and they have great lawyers. Every state is very different.
  15. But pinnacle directs me to Maumelle, so I assume that's what she meant- I hope! We are looking for the opposite of KOAs- quick, quiet, primitive is fine. Does that make sense? It's just for one night. I found a good place in Nashville and a great place in Oklahoma City (outside of it). Little Rock is more difficult. Maybe we should just get a hotel in LR.
  16. Thank you!!! That is exactly what I needed!
  17. Oh, and we have about six inches and it just picked up and is really coming down now.
  18. No power. :( it went out at 3Am. We have a small generator, so the important things are plugged in- fridge, Internet, coffee maker. We don't have water though because we are on a well. We are using snow to flush toilets. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow though, so I'm hoping we can drive in town for showers.
  19. This is my fear, too. But I'm not washing anything. ;) I', just glad it will warm up Thursday because I'm almost out of wood!
  20. Can anyone recommend a campground near Little Rock that is tent friendly (quiet) and pet friendly? We'll be traveling and only need something for one night, so we can too too far from the freeway. We'll be coming from Nashville, headed for Oklahoma City. Thanks!
  21. Oh, thank you. Not really. It's so close to the end of the year, it's mostly all planned. It's just a matter of doing it. My girls always have fun. They love it. I will just know not to volunteer next year. ...it's Girl Scouts, btw. I wanted it to be "my thing." It is not.
  22. Thank you SO much! That's very helpful. Can you recommend a good book to read before I plan all of this?
