Picked up Ds. Math exam went badly. Made dinner.

@HomeAgain How was Disney?
-
Requested antibx from my doc. Started dinner. Placed a grocery order. Unloaded the dishwasher. Printed the form for Ds’ sports physical. His school is providing the exams for free in early May. Hooray for free and no extra trip for me!

@Condessa You have a busy day! Hope it all goes well.

@TheReader Fender bender on the way to Ds’ game last night. Mostly just a big scrape, but still all the insurance hassle.

@idnib What did your Ds do for his gap year? I think one would be very helpful for my Ds and I’m trying to get lots of ideas of what that could look like. -
Hmmm. Considering my week and trying to figure out where to fit things in. Today will be mostly an admin and planning day. Hopefully some resting too, as I am still fighting a cold. May call the doc and ask for antibx, in case this sinus crud doesn’t clear up by the weekend? ✔️ Not sure they will do this without an office visit. Call insurance to report last night’s accident ✔️ and get Ds added to our policy. AHG things - lots! Set up my new tent! New job admin stuff. I hope to start at the end of next week. Only a few weeks left in the school year, but getting my feet wet will be good and the money will help get Ds a car. Remind Ds to check his work schedule and put in time off requests for the summer. And to put his laundry away. He has only 1/2 day today bc of exams. ✔️ Might get Dh to go to Costco for coffee? Ordering filters from Amazon. Dinner is shepherd’s pie and a green salad. ✔️

@mom31257 Sorry for the dental work! I got a crown 25 years ago and, while uncomfortable, the process wasn’t painful, and I’ve not had any trouble with it since. I hope yours is similar. Praying for calmness!

Lacrosse season is over. No wins. Tough. But they learned lots and played hard and kept perspective and had fun. I have enjoyed meeting some of the other parents. Athletic awards and a team party in May. Had a fender bender on the way to the game. Not my fault. No one was hurt. Drivers side of my car has a big scrape all the way down it. Filed the police report at the time. Will call the insurance company tomorrow. Started some laundry. Took vitamins and drank water. Headed to bed to read and wind down.

Do you have a Nature Center or Science Center near you that offers in person classes or camps? -
Waiting at the DMV. Waiting snd waiting. Been here 90 minutes. Glad I had a snack in my purse.

I need to buy a vehicle that meets these very specific requirements

This. Just go and try them out. -
@mommyoffive I am better, but still have chest congestion. Taking mucinex, vitamins, and staying hydrated. Thankfully, last week and this have few things on my calendar and some that I can skip. Supposed to camp next weekend with AHG. We’ll see. Adding to my list: Get gas ✔️ Thrift store drop ✔️ Deposit a check ✔️ Library ✔️

Dd and I did this too. It was a good part of her junior and senior years. We talked about things other than school too: budget, summer plans, college. -
Good morning! Boy to school. ✔️ Coffee and b’fast ✔️ Send some emails Walk the dog? Pick up Ds at 11, after his exam, and go to DMV to get his license! He’s already passed the road test; he just needs to turn in paperwork and get his photo taken. ✔️ Cook dinner early Tutor in the afternoon Last lacrosse game is tonight! Need to dress warmly. We might go in two cars?
-
Read a good bit. Grilled chx and cooked veggies for dinner. Called a friend. Vacuumed bc Dh didn’t do it yesterday and I cannot stand the dog hair. New black flats fit well.
-
@SKL Will your girls live at school or at home next year?
-
Definitely not tackling here! Still fighting a cold. Slept in. Tidied the kitchen, had coffee, and read for a while. Making b’fast now. Dh went to church. Ds is still asleep. He’s sick too. It’s cool and sunny. May take the silly dog for a walk in a bit.
-
Ds definitely has a cold. He and I will stay home from church tomorrow. I will watch the livestream. He can just sleep. He has exams M-W. Ugh! At least M and T are half days and his school is mask-friendly. And a lacrosse game Monday night. We’ll see.

Dinner was good. Kitchen is tidy. Also made some banana bread. Froze some, gave some to a neighbor, will send some to Dd with Dh tomorrow. (He’s taking a dress to her for a dance or something. My girly-girl loves to wear a princess dress or a ball gown!) I got a small slice and Dh will get some, but Ds will eat most of it! Cozy in my jammies with my book. Using heat on my neck/shoulder. It has been achy, with occasional sharp pain, for almost a week. Tonight I noticed tingling/slight numbness in my fingers. Wondering if this is a pinched nerve? I think I did it reaching high up for something. Need to remember that I have a 6’3” son and a 6’1” husband to get those things!! Or at least a step ladder to stand on. Took some ibuprofen too.

Veritas Scholars Academy or ???

Can you give us more context and why you are looking to outsource these particular things? No experience with VP, but we had good experiences with Wilson Hill, CLRC, Center for Lit, Roy Speed, and House of Humane Letters, spread out over many years. And Outschool; fun things there! I would not jump into several online classes at once with a middle schooler. There is a learning curve! And a parent’s significant participation is often required with online classes. As a side note: Douglas Wilson has deep, if not current, connections to VP and many here, including many Christians, find him abhorrent and would never use VP curriculum or courses. -
He will have a tutor, but some explanations and sample problems would be good. I will have him do an Alg 2 readiness test to highlight weaknesses, to give the tutor an idea of where to begin.

Adding to the above lists: Basic budgeting - with an app is good. Seconding away from home experiences, especially longer than a week.
