  1. If I stay where I am, then yes I have family and could probably just make my classes night or certain days. But Id be driving probably an hour at least. I have to research the schools closest to me and see if I can make it work somehow..
  2. Have heard of others I know in their late 30s experiencing same thing.. One friend will be 40 in june.. but shes been having same thing for several years.. her doc said early menopause. hard to believe but I guess it does happen.:001_huh:

  5. Ughh... Im faced with some major decisions. I will be finishing my last semester at a community college online this fall semester. I have earned my Teachers assistant certificate and also associates in Humanties. I went to state college many years ago and so between that and this college I will have many credits in ARt and Psych . I would love to teach art in a private school or special needs school and maybe eventually work in the ART therapy field. Sooo now Im faced with choosing a 4 yr college.( However I would finish in hopefully less then 2 yrs because of the credits I have) However I chose to start home schooling in the fall. I still have the fall semester with online classes. so thats fine.. its after I graduate from there that I need to make the decision of whats next.. I also have my business. (which is mostly spring summer fall.I close few months in winter) Now im faced with going back to an actual college, which would mean moving at least temporary, how would I home school, ? I could close my business for the semester and open in the spring when I finished. I just do not know what Im going to do??.. I really want to finish my degree, but I dont know how im going to do this?? errggg... not sure if there was even a question here... as much as a need to vent my thoughts.. :001_unsure:
  6. I have a feeling Im going to be a "Supply Junky"! hehe.. Im already addicted to post it notes , pens, & binders!:D bought lots for my college classes... now I get to buy more for HS'ng! :auto: thank you , thank you ;)
  7. Great thanks everyone :001_smile: One more thing.. Where do you all usually shop for this stuff?? Staples & office Depot seem quite expensive?? Usually we shop walmart or dollar store for that stuff, but just wondering if there is somewhere online that is cheaper in bulk?? Coffee & chocolate:lol: :D
  8. We love venison Better then regular beef ;)... Usually if it wasnt processed correctly it would taste funny. I could venison steaks sliced up in small thin pieces (Like you would do for a stir fry) .. with onions, pepper, soy sauce , worcestor sauce (Sp?.) Its very Yummy! I love how theres really little to zero fat, unlike beef :tongue_smilie: You could probably put some teriayki (Sp?) Sauce in the ground beef and make burgers. Or make tacos . Ive never heard of the milk thing :bigear:...
  9. Okay so Im attempting to make a list of supplies that we will need our first year HS'ing.. Im wondering what you all keep on hand ? :D

  12. Thank you.. its funny because what you just said is about what I planned for us. Math 4 or 5 days. LA every day. Spelling 3 days and writing on the other 2 . I planned doing history and science eevery other day or history 3 and science 2. Music 1 and art a few times. throwing some spanish in there maybe 2days. journaling, reading aloud before bed and independant reading for her. I figured as long as I plan what we need to get done, I wont plan exact time for everything. ;) thanks again.. I think our first year is going to be great and Im feeling more at ease about it !:D
  13. Thanks so much everyone. :D That really helps! I know the schedule will not be set in stone.. But its nice to see what others do and get ideas. I think I now have a good start to a rough idea of what will be done daily .. Once we begin and get into routines .. the time factor will fall into her pace. ;) Very excited. Thanks again for your help ! I really appreciate how helpful everyone is around these boards;)
  14. Jen,

we are near cooperstown ..If your a baseball fan then you know where it is, otherwise.... it's south of utica 30 min, west of Albany about an hour. Not really too much around us.. we have travel 30 min to utica for movies and shopping . ;)

  15. I guess it really depends where you live and districts. when I was in school in the 80s- early 90's.. The school I went to was a really great school k-12 . It was all around positive. But I suppose things like internet and cell phones have changed a lot also. Im constantly hearing of kids texting and harassing others through this modern tech. I remember kids being picked on..but it wasnt as evil or life threatening as it has become today. (at least around this area ;) )
  16. Im sure there are and that is a wonderful thing! I hope maybe by the time she reaches high school we will be in a situation where she can go to a really great school! For now though unfortunately her school is just not doing it! But we are excited for the home school journey.. and we shall where it leads.. :D
  17. Hi Jen.. Saw that you live in NY.. thought it would be nice to connect with others in the same state. :)

  18. Sounds like the book I just used for my college course.. Think my was called Interpersonal Communication Was an interesting class. Teaches many ways we communicate and how it affects relationships etc.. Things you wouldnt even think of. Sorry that probably didnt help you though ..
  19. So far I have ... Math everyday. 1st thing in the morning. (Aprox 30 Minutes) Then I have Spelling Monday Wed Friday I put handwriting alternating with spelling on Tues & Thurs. ( Both HW & SP 15-20 minutes ) Im thinking science 3 days a week ? 2 days of lessons ( 30 minutes) and day 3 experiments? and history 4 days of lessons ( 30 minutes ) and day 5 research and project work ? Art and music 2x a week plus independant work (anytime she wishes) Still have to figure in Language Arts.. etc.. Im not anal... I know that its most likely going to change.. I just would like some sort of structure going into this .. then we can adjust accordingly... :)
  20. Please for a newbie.. just give me a rough idea of what subjects you do.. time wise & number of days? Like do you do science twice a week, math everyday?? History every day?? spelling 2x a week?? And is 30 minutes enough for each subject .. just to start a rough schedule.. Im trying to just make a flexible plan.. Im sure once we start and get going Ill have a better idea. But just wondering what others do?? I only have one child and would like to get things done mornings. and leave afternoons for her to do independant work /read/ play etc.. Thanks :D
  21. ooohhh... Let me at it!! ;) LoL That would be like christmas for me!! WE (my parents and I) cleaned out a house for an elderly lady who was moving and sold the house. It was amazing, the neat stuff we found. Definately have someone come in an help you ! do not throw anything away until you have had people come and look at it. Omg it kills me when I hear people say they threw everything in a dumpster! Im a vintage clothing collector and you would be surprised at what things are worth!! ;) So have someone come in and maybe auction the really good stuff.. Definately have a yard sale.. people buy stuff you wouldnt expect.. especially if you advertise it as example.. "an estate of 50yrs cleaning out" Id be there bright and early!
  22. As my daughter rode away on her School bus this morning.. A sadness just came over me... .. Im happy that we are starting Hs'ing in the fall.. But I guess I was just sad that PS has become such a horror! Im sad that it has become a scarey place for children. . Gone are the days spirit weeks, football games and Chess clubs, outdoors clubs, drama clubs and school plays.. Now its cell phones, internet, no sports, drugs, means bullying kids.. etc.. PS was NOT bad 20 yrs ago.. the only bad thing was a few kids partying on the weekends..(which was only drinking a few beers, which was considered BAD then..) So much has changed!! :(
  23. I had cancer removed from side of my nose.. the stitches were at least an inch and half in length down side of my cheek/nose.. I went to get my vitamin E what I always used.. and teh guy at the vitamin store told me to try VITAMIN A Cream! Because E is oily it tends to run off your skin and not soak in as good. Vitamin A is creamy and soaks into the scar.. Worked wonderful!! You cant even see my scar!! I still use it all over my face daily.. great for your facial skin! ;)
