Thanks so much for the response! I have not purchased anything, just been searching the internet for information and resources.
She will begin in Sept. But I have to notify her school before end of June. So Im just waiting until I can have everything all figured out.
I would be looking to do a secular curriculum, and I am a single mom, and currently in college and have my own business. I do believe that I can make the time for this and it would benefit her greatly. But looking for the least expensive way.. and from what I see there are plenty of resources online to make that possible.
I would prefer that she be able to some independant work, but I of course would be there to help and work with her on activities. I would like to do field trips and lots of hands on activities, science experiments, art projects etc.
I would like to have some structure, But Im more of a go to amazon.com and find a used book, rather then the library.
I think that I would like to use text books/workbooks to start for a structured type lessons and then add the other activities to that.
Then I did find a site that is hoodamath.com and they have great interactive lessons and games that I think would be good in addition to a text for her MAth as its her least favorite.
She does like to read & write, So I think reading books in addition to texts would be great for her also.
So its just a matter of what texts to use and creating a plan for the year for the state. Thought about just checking into the publishers that her PS used this year and finding them for the 5th grade level. Theres just so many I didnt know where to begin otherwise.
I certainly appreciate your help! :)
