  1. :iagree: with Truthquest or Biblioplan. Also look at "Tapestry of Grace" and "Sonlight". Or maybe "Simply Charlotte Mason".
  2. I'm torn between SL and Biblioplan for next year. Maybe BP would work for you?
  3. Thank you so much, ladies! I'm trying to make plans.:)
  4. Has anyone heard when All About Reading Level 2 is supposed to be released? I looked around on their website but couldn't find anything about projected dates. Thanks!
  5. Here is a site where you can make your own, for free!
  6. Maybe something like Christian Cottage Vol 1 would work for you. It is similar to Konos, but more planned out. And you can use whatever books are available to you.
  7. Here's a thread with a lot of living book suggetions. Or you could go to homeschoolshare and pick out lapbooks on science topics that interest your kids. Then there is this. Or you could get a christian textbook like Bob Jones and use it as a jumping off point for topics to pick up at your library. (I know you said you didn't want a textbook, but it could make a nice framework) And Apologia's Exploring Creation series is kind of like a "living textbook". There are some nice lapbook components for them at A Journey Through Learning http://www.ajourneythroughlearning.com/.
  8. If you'd like something specifically LDS there is Milestones Academy.
  9. You might like to check out Simply Charlotte Mason. There are some free materials there and her curriculum guides are inexpensive. The forum is also a great place to get questions answered, even if you don't use any of their materials. Another free option would be Higher Up and Further In. Her plan is based on AO but a little more "American". Her articles are very inspiring even if you don't use her plan. I just remembered that your son is older. HUFI goes to year 6 (which you may still be able to use), then goes to AO's year 7 and up. Those are just a couple resources. There are many more out there.:)
  10. Ha! I just came on here to post about this! Good thing I saw your post first!:D Come on all you CM ladies ( and all you CM curious!;))
  11. Amie, I'm going CRAZY over your Pinterest board!:drool5: Thank you for sharing!!
  12. Linda Fay has some wonderful articles on nature study, with examples of her kids' work. She used a variety of paper and notebooks. Sometimes just notebook paper. This is a very helpful blog. The whole idea of nature study is to develop an appreciation of nature and attention to detail. It can look different in every family. Watercolor pencils are nice to. Then they can sketch in the field and come home and add water.
  13. You're welcome. I've always drooled over that set! I just noticed you're from Ohio! :seeya:
  14. I'm planning next year to do SCM Module 2 for ancient history and Bible, and Truthquest for American. (But we all know how quickly plans can change!:D)
  15. You would get the Economy Package (Teacher's Guide and history), science, devotional, music cd and one of the read aloud book packages. And if you need them, and aren't using Abeka's readers, you could get the emerging reader package too.
  16. It would probably be less work to use the Konos one, but I don't see why you couldn't use something else. The guide tells you which figures go on the timeline. You could Homeschool In The Woods figures or draw your own. Then you could color code them yourself as to whether they are explorers, inventors, etc.
  17. If you are using Artistic Pursuits Level 1 with 2 children, what materials can be shared? Is it necessary for each child to have their own of any of the supplies?
  18. Also, there is a MFW sale/swap yahoo group. You may be able to find what you need there.
  19. Welcome!:D Grab a cuppa and make yourself at home!
  20. You could use A Beka for phonics and math and HOD for everything else.:)
