  1. Aside from the price tag? They both look like great curriculums but TOG seems like so much..........more. I've been reading all the threads I can find on both and I'm still having a hard time deciding. TOG seems like a lot more work, is it necessary? How is Biblioplan for dialectic and rhetoric stages? Do you think your dc would get the same depth of education with either choice? The many hands on projects in the lower levels and the thinking/discussion questions in the upper levels are what appeal to me with TOG. How hard would that be to add to Biblioplan? Thanks so much in advance!! I know similar questions have been asked before, but someone please push me over the edge one way or the other:D!!
  2. Have you seen the Nature Portfolio at www.homeschooljourney.com ? I think you can make this as easy or difficult as you like. I'm planning to get it for 1st grade.
  3. Thank you, Kristen. I actually plan on using HOD's older programs (starting with Preparing) when we get to 4th or 5th grade. I can't wait to get to CTC! I'm thinking this year that I will go with homeschooljourney's History Portfolio Jr. It schedules SOTW readings and you create a really beautiful notebook
  4. :lurk5: I was thinking about R.E.A.L. Science and student texts from God's Design.
  5. No one, huh?:001_huh: I was trying to compare it to Biblioplan. It attracted me because it also includes picture/artist study and hands on activities. I guess I could add that stuff to Biblioplan myself. Thanks anyway:)!
  6. In real life?? I can't seem to find a review anywhere!!! I've emailed the company twice with questions, but no response yet. Would you take a chance on something like that?
  7. I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but where does "hive mind" and all the bee references under people's user names come from?:001_unsure:
  8. I don't have any yet. I just discovered them in my search for hands-on activites for my VERY hands-on kids. I think I'll also get the nature study one for our science.
  9. Have you seen the beautiful history portfolios at www.homeschooljourney.com ? They look really nice and you can use them with any history curriculum. I plan to get the Jr. version for my 1st grader next yr to use with MOH 1. They also have a nature portfolio for nature studies that looks nice too!
  10. I have not used this, but it looks wonderful!! Thanks for the link!!!!
  11. Thank you for your quick responses! I do already own SOTW 1 and MOH 1. I like MOH for its biblical focus. The reason I chose Biblioplan is because it schedules both. I plan to read both myself and read to the kids whatever they will understand. I had planned to start with American history first, but they are BEGGING me to learn about "Egypt and mummies". After reading so many posts and articles on the pros and cons of starting history at the beginning or with American, I just decided that whatever will hold their interest is what's best;)! I just thought I had read in one of these threads that someone thought that Living Learning Books ancient history worked better with young ones than Biblioplan. Any Biblioplan users care to share how it went with 1st graders?
  12. Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for many months and finally decided to register. You ladies (and gentlemen) are a wealth of information, inspiration and entertainment!! This is my first year homeschooling 2 children that we adopted 2 yrs ago. They are currently 6 and 5 and I am doing K with both of them. Due to the addition of 2 more littles (currently 2 and 1) we have not accomplished a whole lot. We are using McRuffy Phonics and Reading and McRuffy math and adding in lots of library books. Anyway......I would like to start our 4yr history rotation next yr and after changing my mind about a thousand times I've decided to go with Biblioplan. However, in checking out Living Learning Books science, I discovered that they also have an ancient history curriculum. Has anyone used this? How does it compare to Biblioplan? Could I use MOH as a spine? I've emailed the company but thought I would get some unbiased comparisons here while I wait.:bigear: Thank you so much!!
