  2. I may have inadvertently rerouted this thread when responding to mercy about my situation. I think I took it off its intended focus on infants. I apologize it that took it off the rails. To add to this thread, I think the disturbing part is 'babies' (in my view, 1.5 yrs or so and younger) and the word 'training'. Maybe we all have different definitions for those words? Maybe that's what has been confusing this discussion? I could never punish a baby (and no, I'm not trying to be on a high horse-- I hit my toddler, so I have no moral ground to stand on, just discussing the differences in definitions here.). I don't think it's really possible to 'train' a baby either. Redirect? Sure. But the words, 'train babies' is what I think may mean completely different things to different people. Like I said, in my own personal definition (which I think is obviously different than some people here), I view 'train babies' in such a negative way that it makes my skin crawl reading through the thread. But I suspect it's a matter of definition, because I don't think of any of the people on this thread as being abusive parents, but still... the idea of 'training' 'babies' just makes my stomach clinch.
  3. Kicker/punter would be the only position I wouldn't have an issue with wrt to football. Something could happen, but it's prettty rare.
  4. Oh yes, I definitely said 'spank' to him when I apologized and we discussed it. But privately, the guilt eats at me in a serious and unhealthy way and it's easier on me to say pop. It's just something I'll never let go. I hope to God the cycle has been broken completely.
  5. Yes. I popped his butt. I did apologize to him when he was older and told him I should never in a million years have done that. He said he'd never pop his own kid and I was so grateful to hear that so hopefully it wont continue for yet another generation. (Although he's very likely to not have kids anyway, but still.)
  6. My biggest regret is that I popped ds when he was young. I will never forgive myself for that. It eats at me. I wish I had this board back then, too.

  14. This just took me back to my childhood. I was the baby of a large extended family and I tagged along to more hospital visits, visitations, and funerals than you can believe. Every time some cousin, second cousin, great aunt, grandparent, whoever was in the hospital, the room quickly filled with people. It was like a mini family reunion. Our hospital used to have rooms family could rent like a hotel room, but they were called “hospitel” rooms and had a private bathroom. I’ve been in so many of those rooms, because apparently some of my family couldn’t bear even leaving the hospital overnight. Personally, I’m ok being by myself at the hospital, or anywhere really, lol. I don’t like everyone knowing my medical business, so the fewer visitors the better, for me at least.
  15. We do pretty much everything ourselves except electrical work and some plumbing. But I’ll add painting to the list, because neither of us will ever paint another room again probably as long as we live. 🙅🏻‍♀️👎🏼🚫
