  1. I keep seeing this and have no clue what it means. Didn't want to hijack a thread to ask.
  2. Very good points! Yeah, way too hot to put on a raincoat this time of year for sure. And yes, I have seen ponchos at Six flags and such.
  3. I am fortunate as well. Our community did not lose any young or healthy people.
  4. I hope they don’t do away with it, but I think they are tired of people throwing fits and beating up stewardesses because of it. They are getting so much pushback.
  5. And may I also say that I have never seen an adult in a raincoat here, nor anyone in rain boots. I only saw people in them as a kid. Even wslking around seminary in Dallas in the rain, I only saw umbrellas.
  6. I had no trouble relaxing before Covid. Don’t worry about the flu. This scares the hell out of me. And yeah, I am conservative Republican Christian, but anti-Trump. My husband is a doctor and there is reason to be scared. Sorry I cannot be blase about so many people dying.
  7. I go to school in Dallas. I just don’t get this. Never ever had an issue.
  8. Why???? I have lived in Texas for 50 years. No rain boots EVER. Raincoat only as a kid. You run to car or school with an umbrella and you are fine. If it is pouring buckets don’t go on a picnic. I have never needed it. Now, that said, I do have a rain jacket and pants that I take with the RV . We have hiked in Alaska and Colorado in them when it is misty and cold. But here in Texas I am not out in it. An umbrella is plenty. Never had need.
  9. Just a caution. We bought most of our paint several months ago. We had to get another gallon and oh my goodness. Cost my first born. And availability is slim. Here at least SW did a contract with Lowes I think, and they have been getting the paint before the local stores. Our store has been out of a lot of their paint. SO…. depending on how large the project is( not OP, but others reading), you may want to wait.
  10. Yes, I love the hardware, too!! Thank you. My husband did an awesome job. He did a great job with the kids’ bathroom as well.
  11. Honestly, when you have had that kind of personal experience, logic goes out the window. For me, alcohol baths, not being able yo walk, and the injection site swelling up so that I have a major scar makes me nervous, regardless of all the logical facts. You just don’t want to go through that again.
  12. After the deglosser, the wood felt dull. Then we put one coat of the primer below. We had it tinted to be close to the color. Then 2 coats of the paint. It isn’t sticky at all. Can’t scratch it easily. I think it is going to hold up really well. And no sanding.
  13. This is what we used and it worked really well. We didn't strip and sand. https://www.grainger.com/product/44ZU16?ef_id=CjwKCAjwruSHBhAtEiwA_qCppg8s-RNqSQslJN5K42X1Bu8vO--T5qTvepVLAPQdSAR4CJqZ2PGXJxoCCW4QAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!281698275738!!!g!470307065699!&gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:GGL:CSM-2295:4P7A1P:20501231&gclid=CjwKCAjwruSHBhAtEiwA_qCppg8s-RNqSQslJN5K42X1Bu8vO--T5qTvepVLAPQdSAR4CJqZ2PGXJxoCCW4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  14. We just got through painting our cabinets. We did not strip. We used some kind of deglosser. Then we put primer and a couple of coats of paint. We are very, very happy with it and it seems to be really durable. The deglosser is there on the oak cabinets I think.
  15. If it helps, I had a similar reaction to DPT shot. If you remember, I was very nervous about the vaccine. I had no side effects. None. That said, I would get it where there are actual medical personnel.
  16. Um, I don't own a raincoat. An umbrella is what I use. You will be fine with an umbrella. You can get a cheap one at Walmart if you need one. It doesn't rain enough here to own a raincoat.
  17. Well, I straddle 2 counties. One's vax rate is 29 percent. Other one 35 percent. AS of yesterday daily cases 12.2, infection rate 1.25, and positivity 11.8. But those are 7 day AVERAGES. Local news said hospitalizations have tripled over the last week. So I'm guessing the numbers will be MUCH worse a week from now. I was going to see my mom this weekend. Yes, we are both vaccinated, but she has significant lung issues. Not worth it to me to possibly give it to her. Yes, MOST people who are vaccinated get mild cases, but some are in ICU and some die. I don't want me or my mom to be one of them.
  18. Just bought quite a few more masks. I can't find half of the ones I had before. About to cry. Human beings shouldn't have to live like this.
  19. This is important. Though, the thought of locking down again, being an island when the world around me goes on as normal... I just don't know if I can do it again. But if I could possibly kill someone, then I must.
  20. Yes, we are heading overseas, just like we did right before all of this started. We were the last plane out of the particular country. I'm thinking it is happening again. It was hard to do all of this the first time. I am just not up for it again. And since nothing happened to my community the first time, it just makes me feel even less like I have a leg to stand on and by the time the hammer falls, it is going to be truly awful.
  21. I am right there with you. I was finally starting to relax and feel more normal. And since nothing happened to my community last time.... it could be very bad this time. But I feel like I cannot say anything...chicken little and everything.
  22. Well, a few summers ago, we had over 50 days that were over 100! So yeah. The summer has been unusually mild so far. This is much more normal for July. I just looked at the forecast. They will be pop up, if that. So it may rain in Arlington for 20 minutes but nowhere else in DFW, but the chance of rain isn't very much, so you may not have any at all.
