  1. on a nice street until our next door neighbors moved out and drug dealers moved in:glare: It was so sad to see our family friendly street turn into something else. So, we moved about 1 1/2 years later and bought a home 1/2 hour north in a more rural area which made my husband have to commute to work. But, we've never regretted it even though the gas prices have soared. My kids can ride their bikes, fish at the pond, and run around in the yard without me worrying too much. :001_smile:
  2. I want to enroll her in English III. She is young, just turning 15 this summer and I do not think she'd be ready for anything beyond that... Thanks for your input :001_smile:
  3. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Potter's School for your child but put them in a class a level below their grade? Has anyone else done this?
  4. I have one and I love it. We bought it nine years ago and it was a great purchase. :001_smile:
  5. My ds had this problem and it was undetected until he was 18 months and not talking as he had never had an ear infection. It greatly effected his hearing. He has had three sets of tubes put in his ears. Having tubes put in is a pretty simple procedure and it instantly gave him his hearing back.
  6. Roses, coffee, lavender, lemon, vanilla, & fresh baked apple pie :)
  7. she will get the best training. You want her to be taught correct technique as if she isn't it will cause injury and/or bad habits that could hurt her later in life. Check out the teachers and find out where they have been trained and if they have danced professionally.
  8. on braces for my ds. Not the most exciting way to spend it but it will be nice to see his straight teeth in a few years. :)
  9. She did already know some French from using Rosetta Stone. So, I am not sure if she would have done as well without having already been introduced to French.
  10. My oldest dd is just finishing up SOS French. It has taken her most of the school year to finish it. She has enjoyed it a lot and has done very well with it. But since there isn't a second SOS French (like there is for Spanish) she will be doing BJU French 1 next year. I think some of BJU will be a review but I do not think what she learned in SOS French prepared her enough for BJU French 2. Hope that helps....:)
  11. I heat olive oil and minced garlic in a frying pan. Then I brown the roast on all sides in the olive oil. I slice a large red onion and mushrooms and place half in the bottom of the crockpot. I place the roast on top of the onions and mushrooms and put the other half of them on top. Then I season it with salt and pepper. Also, I add about 1/2 cup of water to the bottom of the crockpot. Depending on when I need it to be done I put it on low or high. :)
  12. I have IC and have been dealing with it for about seven years. The past three years have been much better as I'm now on a combination of medications that have helped relieve my chronic pain. Some of the medications for IC take months to become effective. Are you seeing a doctor that has treated other people with IC? It is sometimes hard to find one. For me, it took dealing with a few that were clueless and less than helpful before I found one that could help relieve my pain. There is a great website for IC patients it is: http://www.ic-network.com/ I'm sorry I do not have more advice :grouphug:
  13. Took my dd last year to see it and we both loved it. We just got it from Netflix and my son was not impressed :001_smile:
  14. :iagree: I just went through a similar problem except it was a chronic sinus infection. But my allergist thought it might be a migraine. She said for some people she was never able to get rid of their "sinus" pain because it was actually migraines.
  15. Since moving to VA nine years ago I've learned that if you do not like the weather just wait a bit it will change :001_smile: Unlike where we have lived in the past the weather can change very quickly here. I live very close to Busch Gardens and I agree with Virginia Dawn that you can still have fun if the rain is not an all day event. Even though we live here, my kids love going to the Yankee Candle shop so you may want to check that out. Also, there is a nice museum in Newport News called the Virginia Living Museum. I hope the weather turns out nice for you and you can enjoy Busch Gardens :001_smile:
  16. We ended up getting a ring at Kohl's for a great price after Valentine's Day. We looked at rings on Chrisitian websites and didn't find one we liked. She loves the ring we picked out. Dd has very small fingers so it had to be sent out for sizing and it took a month to get back. But the good thing about Kohl's was that the sizing was included in the price. I'm not sure if you want a specific design but if you don't than you might just want to check department stores for a good deal. It was more important to us that she embraced the concept of emotional and physical purity than have a specific ring.
  17. I also think cheesecakes would be good. I love them but I never make them myself.:iagree:
  18. If she takes a break from ballet and misses it so much that she wants to go back then you may feel better about having her take more classes. At this age a short break will not hurt her. My dd has had many more downs then ups in ballet but she is still driven to do it. I told her last night that I was dreaming that she would go back to class after this injury and decide that it really wasn't her passion. My dream didn't come true :001_smile: It is an expensive and time consuming activity. Many times we have wondered if we should have ever let our dd take that first dance class. Although, even if your daughter doesn't dance very long I do think they learn a lot(other than dance steps) in the process.
  19. My dd is 14 and very serious about ballet. She'd hoped to be off at a summer intensive this year but was injured and is now just getting back to regular classes. What I'd like to add is that pointe work is HARD and from what I've seen it takes a girl with a certain amount of drive to do it well. You definitely want your daughter in a great school and learning the proper technique before she even starts pointe work. So, I'd agree that if she is serious she should be taking more classes before she goes en pointe.
  20. :blushing: In a box that hasn't been opened in almost 17 years... now I'm afraid to see what it looks like... Our 17th anniversary is in April. Over the years we moved so much and I mostly forgot about it and never opened the box from one move to another.
  21. I've been very happy with my Fisher & Paykel. When I replaced my GE about 5 years ago I did a lot of research and found that for the price Fisher & Paykel was the best deal. I've not had any problems with it.
  22. Not sure if this has been posted yet but I just found this on the IRS website. The link gives you the dates you can expect your check or direct deposit. http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html Also, they have a rebate calculator so you can figure out how much money you will get.:001_smile:
  23. I've lived in New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, Ohio, and Virginia. :)
