DB in NJ
Yup! I love it when someone unexpected wins. And BOY was this unexpected!! Very cool.
Cindyg
Here's the link on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV2qrsdkRXI If they've already pulled it, search for Mine That Bird. The owner paid $9500 for this horse and the trainer drove him to the race himself in a trailer behind a pickup truck. ($9500 is ***nothing*** for a Derby contender.) Remudamom
You can never tell with horses. I hate to watch them run in the mud though, makes me nervous.
Unicorn.
Me too. I thought of you as we were waiting for the race to start. I almost didn't want to watch this one w/ the wet track, but boy I'm glad I did!

Journey
I was so afraid, with the track as muddy as it was, that someone was going to get injured therefore, I had the tv on mute and my eyes were closed and I waited until the race was over to open my eyes and turn the volume on! I know that's stupid but I get so angry when one of them gets hurt...why?...because I feel like those horses don't have a choice in whether they race or not (unlike human athletes). The ONLY thing I like about horse racing is the awesome horses you can get off the track when they're done winning for their owners. We have an ex-racer and she is the sweetest horse I've ever met!
